Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Salou itself was very clean.
We did not rate the entertainment as we did not use it, as we went to Portaventura most days, which was very good but recommend you dont go of a weekend as it is very busy.

La Pineda was a lovely resort but the shops were shut already and we were there the first week in October.

I found Salou itself lovely full of shops and restaurants which after my encounter with abit of undercooked lamb was excellent.
Salou had every kind of restaurant from Spanish (obviously) to Italian, Chinese , English and so go. We went to a Scottish bar called Double Scotch a few times and for the odd hour or 2 forgot we were in Spain as the people were lovely and the San Miguel lager lovely and cold and in pint glasses not plastic cups. Some of the bars I found were in major competition with everyone else I found one place which was selling San Miguel for a euro ninety!
The beach was good there was loads of it, it just went on and on with jet ski hire and paddle boat hire plenty of deck chairs and umbrella hire.
The shops were plentiful and had the Spanish version of Blackpool style goods (holiday tat lol) but for picking up a few cheap holiday pressies for back home it was ok. There was also a good few supermarkets and such there, also for the smokers amongst you there was a very popular cigerette shop which was cheaper than duty free!
Overall:
I would go back to salou as I loved it very relaxing and with plenty of bars and busy night life it was excellent. Weather was also good for October with the exception of Wednesday (see hotel review) it was sunny and 25 celcius everyday great stuff.

A very big, sprawling resort.
The beach front area is nice but the beach wasn't clean with litter and cigarette ends in the water.
There are endless tacky shops and the locals are not particularly friendly.

Cap-salou is a much quieter resort compared to salou but its nice and with easy access to buses running regularly its perhaps a nice change of pace from salou. We prefer to be more central but the beach is very close and nice. Down a hill, some local supermarkets, a couple of nice bars and restaurants.

This was great. the resort had great little beaches and then one big one that brought you into Salou.
The best place to eat there that we found was the paddock, great choice for every one as 2 of the family dont eat meat.
The local bus service was very easy to use and there was a bus adviser at most of the stops whom we could get help on what bus to get on and where we had to get off. for a few euros we went into salou, also to the water parks and theme park, and all the local smaller places.
A must do for the holidays especially if you have boys is to go to Barcalona football staduim, we did this trip through our rep was a bit expensive , however the guide was fantastic and we were taken to places that we would have never have tried to do ourselves, this trip did not included the zoo.
We will be back, maybe in a few years time with more family members.
overall, we found this great value for money and this was a great place for the family with still easy acceses to all the major attractions.

resort was nice, all the local pubs offered the same so take your pick really.
the beaches were nice but do be aware of the jelly fish the 5yr old got stung so of we went to the doctors for some cream and a check over that ended up only costing 130 euros just be aware that they are there and he was not very deep in the water.
would go back every one of us enjoyed it, the shopping was ok as well also we went the week before half term and were some what surprised to here from the cafe and restaurant owners that they were shutting up shop that weekend and would not be open for half term week so thats some thing to think about late season
