Salou Holidays

4 out of 5 from 1441 reviews
With one foot in the past and one in the present, Salou has an awful lot to offer tourists. The town dates back to the 13th century but on the historical front it is best known for the Santa Maria del Mar church built in the 18th century and several of its 19th century buildings, including the Harbour Master Building and the Carrilet Railway Station. Salou's most famous beaches include Capellans, Llenguadets, Llevant and Ponent. Nearby attractions include the PortAventura theme park, Aquopolis Water Park and the House of Illusion where magicians will amaze and confound you as you eat your dinner.

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Salou is your typical town of souvenier shops, do haggle to get the prices down. The beach is like sardines so we never paid a visit but we did take a look and if it is your thing to be sitting inches away from people then it would be great for you. Barcelona on the train was quite easy, catch the metro if you want to see the nou camp. Our advice on the water parks if you have young children then costa caribe is great but be prepared to pay for everything. If you are older the check out aquapolis in la pineda very good day out, they have a dolphin show and sea lions as well as a very good water park.

i enjoyed salou promenade at night very relaxing. the part of salou towards carles buigas stree is very noisey or towards sinatras bar. i personly prefered cambrils or la pineda resorts. local entertainment is any pub on saturday night back home . they even have a chubby brown (comedian) copy/clone doing the pub circuit.

Cap Salou where our hotel was is pretty quiet, and is about 7 mins to salou by bus.

there are a few bars in cap salou and that is it and a couple of supermarkets too but that is all you need!

I would recommend 'The Paddock' which is a little bar and restaraunt in Cap Salou. we were half board so we didn't need to eat, but we would go there and have a san miquel or two getting rather jealous seeing the steaks and pies which everyone was ordering in there mmmm they looked very nice!!!!

Salou is a fantastic resort with plenty to do!

Make sure you visit Port Aventura if you like theme parks we had a great day there! Dragon Khan and hurakan condor are fantastic and a must!!!

Barcelona is not too far so this makes a nice day trip! you can book through your reps.. but the local bus companies do there own trips which is basically identical to what the reps do and for almost half the price!!!

Be careful using the taxis.... especially on a sunday because they rip you off! it cost me and my mate 2.40 euro on bus from hotel to salou. then on way back we decided to jump a taxi back on a sunday! doh! this was our first day so we didn't have a clue and the taxi was just over 10 euro!!!!! bit of a difference there!!! so stick with the busses!

we were a bit lost because once you get out of you appartment no body seems to understand you.

for example: we got on a bus:

my friend to bus driver ..."excuse me do you go to salou?"

bus driver... "yes"

my friend ..."how many stops is it"

bus driver ..."yes"

so it is a fun holiday! we had a laugh. lovely place, lovely beaches, lots of bars and things in salou.

we will go back one day!!!

the resort was very clean. we had a couple of thunder storms while we were there and the whole place got flooded, but it soon disappeared and cleaned. you would never have noticed that it had been flooded.

there are plenty of excersions. we done the jeep safari which was fantastic. you are out all day going up to the mountains where you stop and have lunch and do some wine tasting. costs about 40 euro. auopolis (water park) really good day out. you can catch the bus just outside your hotel and takes you straight there (about 20 mins)plenty for kids to do and for 45 euros you can swim with the sea lions. they also put on a brilliant dolphin display. a really good night out was the reps nights. they put on a brillant performance and you get to drink the local beer and sangara for free (as much as you like) kids can have soft drinks.

the beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. it's very clean and tidy with sun beds for hire for the day. you can jet ski, go for a banana boat ride and they have peddle boats which you can hire.

overall, i really enjoyed my 2 weeks holiday. we felt relaxed from the moment we got there. you can either have a nice relaxed holiday or plan your days with lots of activities.

Cap Salou is ideal for families as it is really quiet and only a 10 minute walk into Salou along the new promenade. Although the local bus and train service is excellent and cheap.

Would definately recommend the Sun Club for somewhere to eat and entertainment. The Smugglers Inn served great food but the service wasn't the greatest - asked for the sweet menu and they brought us the bill - were they trying to give us the hint?

We loved the resort and accommodation, but hated Reus airport. For the size and popularity of the resort, the size of the airport and especially the departure lounge area is a joke. We were delayed for 10 hours coming hoem and our tour company had to bus us all outwith the hotel for food, as the food available is limited to burger and chips or ham and cheese rolls!

Do't go near "The Paddock" restaurant in the village of CAp Salou though - the food is terrible.

Salou was good resort very friendly and you did not get to much hassle of guys selling watches, shades etc. Plenty of bars, shops and restaurants.

Small pub(double scotch) close to hotel well worth a visit.

Nothing in Cap Salou, I dont really even believe it exists!!!

Small coves, hotels and maybe 5 cafes if you can find them.Although if you want peace and quiet this is the place for you.

La Pineda is the next resort (a 30 minute walk or 5 minute bus). This has a long sandy beach with all amenities, sunbeds, brollies etc.Shops, restaurants and a water park but if you are looking for bars forget it.

Salou is non walkable, about 20 minutes on bus. This is very, very spread out and I dont believe you could even in 2 weeks visit every bar or club.

Shopping good although much of the same. Restaurants in abundance, hard to choose.

The resort is clean, but a lot of work being done on the front.
There are a lot of places closed at this time of the year, but plenty of room on the beaches which are clean and have lots of toilets on them.
