Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

La Pineda spotless.
Lots of bucket shops along the strip, couldnt find a perfume shop but passed it on the bus to airport on last day at far end of strip.
Beach lovely & wide.Return bus transfers were 31 euros for the four of us and the bus is waiting right outside the airport door, it takes u to your hotel door our travel company wanted £80 stg!!
Wouldnt hurry back because I like to try new places but maybe someday..

Dirty, dirty, dirty, to be polite!!!!
Plenty of bars the usual karaoke and British bar mix and a lot of trendier looking bars which gave me the impression it was more for young groups than families with young kids.If you go Champions has good kids entertainment but I was on edge as the main street is full of traffic. Uncle Sams is great for food as is Boomerang.
The main beach at Salou is vastly over crowded from 9a.m. We pitched behind the peddle boats as a landmark and couldn't believe it when a boat went out people were running for the free space. It is not clean with tab ends and even a sanitary towel on one visit and a condom on another. A much cleaner and less crowded option is La Pineda beach about a 15 min bus ride which cost us about 5 euro.

I suggest you visit Port Aventura in the evenings, as you can get on the rides much quicker, but be aware some of the smaller rides you would expect a 5 year old to be allowed on with an adult, they do no allow!
Salou in the evening was manic, with guys trying to get you into bars - again, this did not appeal with a 5 year old, so we tended to stay in the hotel, travelling out the odd night either to Port Aventura, or alternatively there was a little fun fair just around the corner from the hotel, where there are a couple of merry-go-rounds, and a children's bungee.
We only strolled along the beach - you couldn't put a pin between people, so it was safer to stay around the hotel pool.
On the whole we didn't have a bad holiday, but I wouldn't stay in Salou again. On one of our visits we went to Cambrills, and that was extremely pretty and a lot more to my taste, so I would give that a try.
I have not being put off by Thompson Superfamily holidays, as whilst we were here we made a lot of friends, who recommended some good alternatives in Ibiza!

This was our first visit to mainland Spain and I would not dream of going to Salou again.
Busy, busy busy busy.
I've given a 5 star for the beaches because if you take the trouble to walk a little further you will find some quieter coves which were very pleasant. The main beach - well words like 'sardines' and 'packed like' come to mind.
Row after row of hotels is my abiding memory of the place. Followed by numerous shops selling tat.
Our best days were on the coves referred to above, a trip to Taragona (old town) and taking the taxi to Cambrils (which is a much better resort) and a jeep safari into the mountains.
Portaventura was good fun but you can do that from neighbouring resorts such as La Pineda, Cap Salou, Cambrils or others.
This is not Spain; it is anywhere. Bars called the Rovers Return and Rose and Thistle give an indication of what to expect.
So far as the younger members of our family were concerned, the clubs were OK but nothing special.
If you like Blackpool, fair enough then go. If you don't, think twice.

The main bits of the resort were clean - the promenade & beach however some of the side streets absolutely stunk as there are overflowing bins and pools of green goo on the floor.
Other than the hotel entertainemnt we never saw that much else. There are a lot of bars and restaurants but if you've got young kids you may find it difficult to entertain them. Port Aventura is good but there are only so many times you want to go there.
Make sure you buy a fortnight ticket before your holiday if you want to go to Port Aventura. This gives you the flexibility to go as many times as you like - you can get tickets from your travel agent but it may be cheaper to get them from the port aventura website.
The beach is clean but is vastly overcrowded. If you have small kids that may wander off you need to keep a very close eye on them or don't bother with the beach. Get there very early if you want a spot by the sea (around 9:30).
I am unlikely to visit the resort again as we have now been there done that.

Salou in my opinion is a bit chav - mainly geared to young people. When we went out in the evening we were constantly approached by youngsters giving us flyers for bars. The shops are generally tacky, the beach looked nice although we did not go as it looked extremely crowded and we were not sure we would be able to get an umbrella which was a must as it was very hot. There were some nice bars at one side of the beach where you could sit and watch the world go by. I would not go back to Salou again it is far too over developed.

The hotel itself is situated in Cap Salou it is not in Salou itself so to go to Salou you need to get a bus which you get charged 1 Euro 35 pence per person it takes 10 mins approx, if you want to trave to La Pineda it takes no more than 5 minutes.
The resort entertainment was ok no more, there are a few pubs in Cap Salou that offer entertainment from an Elvis impersonator in the Crows Nest to a Quiz/Kareoke in Mickeys, there are another few bars like the smugglers inn, The Paddock that does really good food that I can remember but apart from that there are very few other bars in the area. There is a centre for the kids were they can play pool & play in the arcade as well as a little farye ground.
I personally would not visit this resort again purely because of its location, I just would like there to have a been a few more bars & a lot more entertainment i.e live shows. Even your club reps didnt do anything to entertain around the hotel, I have been to so many different places that the club reps really do get involved in entertainment moreso than they did here. The animation team are spanish they try their best by doing keep fit in the water of a morning & killer pool & other bits & bobs but there is nothing like having an animation team that can speak English, these were spanish & they found it hard to communicate at times.
In addition to this I also found Cap Salou to be a bit hilly, you find when you have to go for a bus you do have to walk up a steep inlcine, you also have to walk up a steep incline from the hotel to the top of the main road.
The beach is literally outside your hotel but it is only small but would suit some people, not me tho as it does tend to get very crowded, sunbeds on that beach are 4 Euros each to hire. We travelled to La Pineda beach most days as that to gets very crowded but come 1 ish a lot of the spanish people leave the beach for the siesta it really is amazing how quickly they disperse. Belive me tho when you are on the beach in La Pineda at 11 ish in the morning you literally are squashed like sardines as the spanish dont care where they sit as close as they do to you as long as they get there speck.
MIckeys does a happy hour from 7 - 10 & then you have our hotel that does a happy hour from 11 - 12, its worth finding things like this out as I found that my money went nowhere, I found it was very expensive so little savings on happy hours can make for happier holidays.
This hotel was brilliant if you want a quieter break, not to many bars & to many people & shops, I really cannot complain. I personally would not visit this hotel again in the area in which it is situated for this reason only. I love Salou I just wish that this hotel was more in Central Salou where there is a lot more hustle & bustle.
Just a tip bring a washing line & some pegs if you plan to swill things through as It gets very windy at times as its right on the beach front & towels & swimwear can easily blow over your balcony.
I did plan on hiring a fridge (but had to wait a week for one) as I like the idea of having cool drinks for the night but they have a cool drinks machine on each floor which provides all soft drinks & cold water.
I hope you enjoy your stay in this hotel I am sure you will as there is very little to complain about, have a great time & remember to put your views on the site.
