Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

We stayed in room 438 good view over the pool the pictures I have included you will see walk in shower no grip handles and shower mat on the base of the shower and this was provided by the holiday rep

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

The beach is less than 5 m from the hotel the sea is warmer than the pool & the snorkeling great.
We went to theme park a few times which is excellent but the water park there is rubbish buy your tickets at home alot cheaper.
Salou itself is good comes to life on a night.
A great all round holiday.

Pineda is a small resort which has one long palm tree lined road with the beach on one side and shops,restaurants and bars on the other. It has everything you need for a relaxed family holiday.
The Aquapark is in the middle of the resort, this is not that impressive and we would advise going to the Caribe waterpark in Port Aventura which is a 10 minute taxi ride away.
We had a couple of walks down the resort centre on a night and the entertainment looked ok, some of the bars were offering free Salsa lessons. There are a couple of places to play Crazy golf which we enjoyed.
The cleaninness of the resort was above average and the beach was very clean also.
We would strongly advise visiting Port Aventura. On arrival there we were advised to go into the caribe waterpark first and then pay inside after 2pm to enter the adventure park. This works out quite a bit cheaper. Although we would have had lots of fun with 2 full days there if our holiday was bit longer.

Cleanliness wasnt 100%, rubbish bins loited in the roads which gave off a stench. Obvious smell signs of drains in some areas. Entertainment - something for everyone from crazy golf to night clubs. Beach was very clean and was swept every night. Yes I would return to the resort however not very traditional, very geared towards some British resorts.

When walking around Salou it seemed very dirty. Rubbish all over the floor.
The beach was very nice but absoloutely packed so you've had to watch your children like a hawk as they could easily get lost.
There are just loads and loads of bar and restaurants/cafes we ate a lot at Uncle Sams which was a lovely American diner food was great. I can't honestly say that I would come back to Salou!

The resort itself is very pretty on the front.
The only thing marring it are the endless tat shops everywhere selling the same cheap rubbish. This is not a place for culture.
Having said that, the old part of Salou is a little better but don't expect a lot more.
The beach is huge and not too long a walk from the hotel but be prepared for someone to park their towel six inches from yours even though there is a larger area from them to go nearby.

The Resort itself was quite seedy but much as we had expected. The beach was very clean and there were plenty of sun beds (3 euros each) to be had. The promenade was lovely with fountains, parks, clean public toilets and lots of benches to sit and look at the sea. Along the front were the usual array of shops and restaurants.
We did 1 trip while we were there to Barcelona - all day and night - tour of the Nou Camp being the highlight of the day.
We also visited Port Aventura and Club Caribe (water park) Very impressed with these.
All in a good holiday but I don't think we'll be returning in the near future and certainly not to the same hotel.

Whilst hotel Calypso was very clean the same cannot be said for Salou itself. Yes, I know its the tourists who get it that way with junk food/papers etc lying on streets (although I did see some guys sweeping up daily with ordinatry brushes - needed more than that) there is some waste ground near the centre of salou that you walk past shilst doing the round of shops and its disgusting, like a mini rubbish dump.
We found the smaller beach which was great, clean (although loads of ciggie ends) safe for kids, and the water was nice and warm. HOWEVER, on last day the sea was a bit rougher and we saw some rather unsavoury things floating in the water - we were out of there pronto!
Beware - someone tried to steal my bag in McDonalds, they almost got it too, however my husband spotted them and grabbed it back - we got the police who carted them away, but don't know what he would get for that. Another family saw our predicament and told us that the same person had tried to steal their bag too, but they managed to stop him - I guess this could happen anywhere, but just be aware!

It is about a 10 minute walk to the main seafront and the beach, but does seem like longer when its hot.
There is a good supermarket just a 2 minute walk from the apartments which was very handy. The beach is clean and does get really busy and you do have to pay for the sun loungers so most people just bring their own things to lie on.
There are water activities like banana boats and jet skis which are fairly cheap. There are plenty of pubs, bars, restaurants and shops on the main seafront so no shortage of things to do.

Town was quiet lively with many bars and restaurants from english to Spanish.
The road train travels around the resort, pay one price, get off when you like.
Beach was very clean with safe waters ideal for families.

There is a lot off building work going on some areas are litterd with rubbish. Port Adventura was fantastic try and buy you're tickets in this country as they are cheaper, also the water parks are fab.
There are little coves which are lovely the main beach is very clean.
I have seen changes in Salou some are good but the resort has changed so much I would not go again.
