Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

We were not impressed by Salou and found it to be quite grubby (totally dirty and disgusting in places). There was nowhere in the resort you could go for a quiet meal/drink or to relax. It was overpacked and could only be compared to an oversized British holiday camp.
If you do go we would recommend day trips to Montserrat, Barcelona (especially the fountains at night) and Tarragona. We went to Andorra for the "very cheap" duty free but don't be too hopeful as there is only €1-€2 difference between there and Salou. Also be careful while shopping in Salou as some of the sports shops are selling football shirts which may not be as "authentic" as they say.
Unfortunately we did not enjoy the resort of Salou and we cannot see ourselves returning here.

Beaches were nice, especially the coves. Port Aventura was great fun. Cambrils and La Pineda were pleasant places to visit. The children loved the water park at La Pineda (Aquapolis). A day trip to Barcelona is a must, especially on one of the open top buses stopping at the Nou Camp Stadium (a must with 3 boys who live for football) - take your credit card on this trip.

It is more Cambrils than Salou. It would take a good 45 mins to walk into Salou especially if youve got young kids. Its nice to go there but theres no need as there are plenty of bars and restraunts just outide the site.
We have already booked to go back next year as the kids loved every minute.
Make sure you fly into Reus though. We went to Barcelona and hired a car and we didnt use it apart from to and from airport. Its about £20 taxi to Reus airport.

Entertainment was top notch. Resort was dirty and poor compared to home. Beach was spot on.

Didnt really explore much of this resort - Visited the Beach in the night - very pretty with the fountains at the front. Shops are busy but this you would expect in high season. Went to Port Aventura - this is a must. When we booked this Holiday the Travel Agents asked if we wanted Tickets to Port Aventura - wish I had though because the tickets were cheaper with them rather than at the resort. Fantastic show at the end of the night, didnt go up in the Day because it was too hot.

We love Salou so much that this is our 3rd holiday their, as it is so vibrant and the beaches are so clean.
The only problem their is thieves who target people on the beach and we applaud the local police for their quest in catching these thieves.
We could not believe our what we was hearing when one day we went to the beach and found out that two old ladies, yes thats right two ladies that must have been in there sixties had robbed this couple of their belongings and tried to escape in there car but was caught by the police and the couple had there belongings returned, no you don't hear of that every day do you?.

The resort of the hotel was approx 2k from salou centre and was like a small village.
This did accomodate for families and were buses approx every 10 mins into solou centre. There were shops, supermarket and a few small fair ground style bars. Also a few bars and restaurants.
There were lots of small beaches around and you could walk along a nice flat path along the sea front to get to the centre.

The resort had the feeling especially in the evening that you were in Oxford street London (only hotter).
The streets had a lot of broken glass on the floor from the night before and the pavements were very uneven with bigs holes in them where the trees that lined the streets roots were making the paving tiles rise.
The entertainment was the usual Karaoke, pub quizes although my 16 year old daughter did like the clubs and had a wonderfull time. However there were a lot of horror stories about young people being mugged by the local youth.
The beach was fantastic the fountains ever so often there was a bar for refereshments, the toilets were manned and spotless. there was exercise classes on the beach, Football courts, basketball courts, volleyball there was something for everybody. Also a nursery for the children and a Gym. The beds were very resonable to hire on 3 euros for the day.
All in all this is a very built up resort with hotels appearing everywhere you look We visited this resort 8 years ago and liked it so much we came back I will visit again although I fear it is in danger of becoming a concrete jungle with a beautifull beach.

Other than 'Port Aventura', there is not a lot really for children in Salou, other than the wide beaches.
For the size of the place, the shopping is reasonably good.
Plenty of cafe's, bars, etc..
