Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Love Salou

We stayed in Cambrils. It was very quite but Salou was a short bus ride away. There was very little entertainment in this resort for the time of year August but the beach was excellent and very close.
If going again I would stay in port Aventura. I was very annoyed with my travel agency for sending us to Cambrils.

Salou is close to Portaventura which was a really good day out and highly recommended - but I would suggest staying at one of the Portaventura hotels and skip out Salou completely.

Salou is lively but lovely. It looks like a typical holiday resort, not the most classy looking places i've been to but it was still lovely, and the locals were friendly. I would go to salou again, but will probably only go there when staying in Sanguli as the hotels dont look as nice as what you get in Sanguli.

I have rated Salou highly because the place itself is lovely, far nicer than I expected. But I wasn't too keen on Salou central mainly because of some of the people who were there. Of course I didn't expect much else, going to this type of place in July so I'm not going to moan about it but should we return to Salou we will probably try to go out of peak season.
On the other hand I adored both Cambrills and La Pineda, much quieter and more 'my thing' with lovely bars, cafe's and places to eat. The whole coastline here is faultless and perfectly clean even to my fussy standards but obviously very busy in July.
Because we booked everything ourselves rather than a package we hired a car from Reus airport for the week, it worked out much cheaper than taxi's would have been, and if we wanted to be out for a drink then we found the buses very reliable. Driving was much easier than we had imagined with well maintained roads and excellent road signs and directions - even the hotels etc were signposted and happily we didn't get lost once!!
I can't comment much on the nighlife as we tended to stay in the quieter areas but my teenage son and his friend thought Salou was great. They also commented on how friendly everyone was, they met 2 groups of lads and seemed to have a good laugh with them. They said they also felt very safe, not like being in clubs at home.
Another thing we were happy about was the fact we weren't ever mithered by anyone, no-one bothered us for time share, hair braiding, massages - the usual stuff. Shop owners tended to be a touch pushy but we just smiled and politely said we were 'just looking' and they left us alone.
Finally we found flying scheduled with Ryanair from Liverpool to Reus was a doddle, I am a nervous flier but found the whole experience totally stress free. Reus has to be congratulated on it's efficiency - upon arrival we hadn't even gone through the passport bit when our luggage came!! I will definitely do DIY again - so much easier than I ever imagined.

The beach was lovely but too crowded, like every where else, I guess. There was plenty of entertainment for young and not so young all within walking distance. I would definitely go back.

Salou is reasonably clean and tidy, very busy resort with shops open until 12 usually, bars open half the night. The beach is well maintained, clean and looked after. Showers on the beach, banana boats, jet skis, pedaloes and skiing, so plenty to do. Play areas for children every few hundred yards along with a pedestrian area before the main road.

Not much going on at Cap Salou. Avoid it if you can.
