Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Salou has it all, but we stayed Cambrils end thankfully as it's quieter than the main resort.
Great for families but you need to stay away from the town late evening as the teenyboppers etc are all out in force, which for families with small kids is not a nice sight, and can be a bit intimidating.
Anyway we were all young once. Just keep to the family pubs etc

the resort was very clean, the nightlife is great something for everyone. the beach near our hotel was very nice, the only down side was a lot of steps to get down to the beach and back up. we enjoyed salou and would visit again.

The center of Salou is varied to suit most ages but we found it very over crowded, the beach is quite nice though. Port aventura is worth a visit the kids will love it especially at night and it is not so busy as in the day, plus it's cheaper. Make sure you don't book this hotel if you have already make sure you DON'T end up in block 2.

Have been to Salou before and would recommend it to anyone with children not only because the beach is clean and safe but also because of the other facilities in the resort. Port Aventura is a short bus ride away and is well worth a visit (tickets are cheaper if bought in the UK through the travel agent/tour operator).
To experience all the rides and shows you will need at least a couple of days - the firwork display at night is stunning although you need to find a place to watch well before it begins. At nighttime Salou is a mixture of family bars with karaoke and bingo, smaller cafe type bars and a few nightclubs.
There are plenty of shops although they mainly all sell the same things. Cambrils is a much smaller and quieter resort and is more expensive and Salou with some very nice designer shops. It is well worth a visit and a quiet drink at one of the bars on the sea front.
Overall, both resorts are very different from each other and both are excellent in their own rights, although Cambrils is more for couples than families.

Found Salou to be very clean with plenty to do night and by day the beach was very good, very clean, plenty of shops and bars.
The waterpark in la pineda was great and not too expensive a great holiday!

The resort was ok - Cap Salou was nice as was La Pineda.
Salou itself was very busy and a bit too busy for us full of tacky shops all selling exactly the same things over and over again.
We will probably not visit this resort again as it doesn't hold any mystery.
It is much the same as any mainland seaside spanish resort.

Salou is all that is great about a typical spanish resort. it has lots of character, plenty to do and is close to many places of interest.
The only thing that i felt let it down is that there was not really a family pub, ( or at least one we could find!)the type that you can sit all night with the kids and they will be entertained, if Salou had one of these it would be faultless.
A couple of days trips you should definately take are Tarragona and Barcelona.
Both of these are very easy to reach by train and are very inexpensive to get to. Try to go to tarragona during the festivals in the old town, seeing a tower of people 7/8 stories high is breathtaking. There is also a large(ish) shopping centre in Tarragona with some great kids clothes at good prices.
Barcelona is an amazing place, the nou camp visit is well worth the money (although the picture with the european cup is a rip off as the picture quality is poor when purchased for 10E. The major thing about Barcelona is its architechure. I would never consider myself a fan until i saw some of Gaudi's work. Now i cant get enough of his buildings and i hope to revisit his work in the near future.
Back to salou...
Port Aventura is great and has some awesome rides, the queues are not that bad considering we went in peak season, the queue jumper passes are good value for money and you should get the on your 2/3 visit to the park.
the illuminating fountain and the bars around the marina are great at night time. Very few gangs of people around and believe it or not there were not many bar reps/street sellers around.
all in all a great place for young and old families.

if you like Benidorm and Magaluf you'll love Salou. The whole town is cheap, tacky and dirty. How could anyone come to this place and actually like it?? I stayed in Cap Salou which is not too bad itself except for the really steep hills (4 in total) to get from apartments to beach. The main beach in Salou is crowded. I won't be returning.

Salou first time abroad with family 2 children one boy 14yrs and one girl 7yrs. Both wish to return this year daughter loves the beach and parks on beach, son enjoyed meeting new friends from apartment the pool and the beach as well as the entertaintment along the beach. My partner, myself, family & friends enjoyed the beach, sitting outside at bars and generaly having a brilliant family holiday are hoping to enjoy Salou again this year.

the resort was very clean, much cleaner than nearby salou. i didn´t like the beach views as much though as you can see the industrial port and heavy tankers. but on the other hand the beach was cleaned and flattened everynight, and well looked after. shops are repetetive selling much the same thing.
a great waterpark is in la pineda a MUST!! even if you don´t have kids, its huge fun.
would visit again even though there aren´t many pubs or clubs. staying in la pineda gives you a relaxing break with the choice of visiting nearby busier resorts, reached by bus or taxi.
