Beaches

The white sanded beach was at the end of the hotel garden.
We were warned about beach peddlars, who can be pests, but hotel security prevented them from coming near the hotel. You can get a taxi for less than £2.00 to the old and the new Medina's, but wouldn't recommend the 'Noddy trains'as one tried to rip us off.Be brave in the Medinas as haggling is customary.
The market stall owners are very up to date with English prices and will exploit the less forceful traveller be it with a smile. All jewellery is 'silver'not, so beware of wonky silver hallmarks. Most of the leather goods are made from camel and there are no copyright laws so you will see Nike,D&G,Von Dutch etc copies of everything.
Lovely friendly people.

We stayed in Hammamet and found it to be very nice, the locals we thought were very pleasant and friendly towards us.
The beaches were very good and not crowded our hotel had it's own beach.
We would definately go there again.

Never really saw any litter.
Beach was spotless. Bins / pot urns around the site.
I would return but would always ask for a sea view.

Nothing to say about it in its favour. Beach acceccable via a very dodgy pathway...felt very vunrable, no facilities...walked there and walked straight back..no one on the beach.

Hammamet North doesnt offer much. The beach is OK but there is litter about. The pavements can be dangerous at night, so many gaping holes.
Hannamet town is worth a visit, we went to the Villa Sebastien which has extensive grounds and is very peaceful. This is where both Rommel and Churchill stayed(at different times).
Be wary of the rogues you meet in the street, they will claim to be your waiter/chef/driver or similar and take you shopping for that carpet you never wanted.
We went on the two day tour to the South, sahara and Atlas mountains and learned a lot about this strange country.

we were about 4k from hamammet.there was not much outside of the hotel except for a few shops and cafes.again outside of the hotel there was very little entertainment.the beach at the hotel was pretty good no probs there, except the flies and sellers.as a family we would probably not visit this resort or hotel again.

The hotel and grounds kept clean and tidy, we informed reception twice that we had a problem with ants in our room but nothing was done about it, ended up buying spray ourselves to stop the ants.
As with another review we found out that we were being ripped off by waiters as well, that is when you could get one to take your order. Never giving you your change and not bringing you a reciept for what you had ordered and on a couple of times trying to charge you alot more than what your bill should come too.
Also being told that they had run out of money on a daily basis and being told to use hotel over the road, who in the end refused to change money as we were not their guests.
The food was the same every night and every morning, normally luke warm and very bland, was told breakfast closed at 10 am, but on many occasions they were clearing it away at 9.40/9.45am, and got very stroppy when you told them you had not finished.
Restaurant manager Amed very helpful when he was there. Use the A la cart resturant on Hammamet village side, the service is better, food a bit better and Munji manager in there is very helpful.
The so called entertainment staff try very hard, but they are all worn out, working 7am to 11.30pm, 6 days a week, it seemed that most of the time they used guests to do the entertaining. Susu the childrens entertainer was always trying to get children involved and is about the only member of the team that I can praise.
When we visited this hotel 5 years ago the entertainment was done by 3 English and 3 Tunisians and was excellent some thing different every night and worth watching, not so this time.
The hotel is now set up for Russian/Polish and Eastern European guests, and the English etc are a minority, you are made to feel that you are an inconvinence. The travel agents should tell you that the hotel is no longer for the English and advise you on somwhere else.
My family will NOT be returning to this hotel ever again which is ashame as we loved it last time, hence we returned this year.
Still go to Tunisia its a great country just think about were you stay ????????
