Enjoyed our first trip to Tunisia. The hotel was good and the staff excellent. We booked this hotel as no children apparently, but there were some toddlers in the first week with several more in the second. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner. The French and Italian restaurants were of first class standard. The entertainment was OK but why do they allow the bands to play in the main foyer so if you fancied sitting to have a chat with new friends, you had to shout? Also, don't bother paying extra for a "superior room" it is not value for money at all, just take a travel kettle and some PG tips.

The Royal Kenz Hotel 4* Port El Kantouai Tunisia. What a wonderful place. We have never had such a relaxing holiday. The first thing you notice is how friendly the staff are. Then how clean everything is. In fact cleanliness seems like an obsession.
The Hotel is situated about 2k from the Port but most people liked to walk there along the beach. It is a walk that is highly recommended. For a change you can take a horse and carriage back to the Hotel.
Talking to the other residents we were amazed by how many people had been going there year after year. My wife left yesterday (20th June) to go back again.
This Hotel is not for those who are looking for a Disco/booze up type holiday. If you want to rest and relax - go for it!

We stayed on a half board basis and the food was fantastic, so much to choose from, our waiter was brilliant.
Cleanliness of the hotel was second to none, bed linen changed every single day, and towels too.
Beach was only 5 minute walk, and very nice it was too.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly and always went out of their way to accomodate.
The only thing that lets this beautiful hotel down is the entertainment, resident band not too bad, but after 2 weeks of hearing them every evening, gets a bit tedious. The singer and keyboard player in the american bar was very good, but by the time you had eaten it was virtually impossible to get a seat in there.
I would not hesitate to visit this hotel again, had a wonderful time and would recommend it very highly.

We have just got back from our holiday in Tunisia. It is the first time we have been and we will definialtly be returning soon!!
The food was OK. Not perfect but it was a buffet service so there was plenty to chose from. I know other reviews state that the breakfast was boring after 2 weeks, but who has a different breakfast every day at home! You could have toast, cereal, fruit, full english breakfast, pancakes, coissants, and lots more. The dinner had a wide range too. People who are fussy will obviously be restricted, but we thought the the food was fine.
The hotel was clean, there was staff cleanng all day everyday. The staff were amazing, you didnt have to lift a finger. It didnt matter where you were sat in the hotel or sunbathing by the lovely pool, the waiter would come to you for drinks and bring back your change. You only had to get up to go to the toilet!!! Now thats what I call a relaxing holiday. There is a few different bars within the hotel and the entertainment was very good.
I would definiatly recommend a full body massage in their beauty salon, only

The hotel was situated in beautiful well kept gardens. The staff were absolutly brilliant nothing was too much trouble for them the food was excellent and there was a wide range to choose from. The cleanliness was second to none the room was cleaned everyday and left immaculet. All around the hotel was kept perfectly clean and tidy and i would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone. The staff made you feel that you were special and could not have done more to make my holiday perfect. The the beauty salon was very good and the massages i had were very relaxing and good value for money i shall be returning for a further holiday later this year

We have stayed at the hotel on numerous occassions, last trip in March-2004. We have always found the food to be very good, great variety and lovely desserts. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff from the maids to the hotel owner. The bar staff remember who you are and what you drink visit after visit and have never once got it wrong! The pools are excellent and you can relax and sunbath all day with the waiters bringing your drinks to you - cool. We have recommended the hotel to many, many friends and have taken parties of up to 12 people with us. We visited in Oct-03, Feb-04, Mar-04 and are returning Jun-04 with our usual room already reserved. We are both working people who enjoy a relaxing holiday without kids and this meets our requirements in every way. We would continue to recommend the hotel even though it is no longer a Thomson Gold Hotel, this will not detract from the high standard and the fantastic staff.

What a super hotel.This was our fourth visit which in itself speaks volumes about how much we enjoy staying there. All the staff are extremely friendly and efficient, cleaners, waiters, reception staff, kitchen staff, everyone, including the owner and his wife.The food is excellent and is varied by being given the opportunity of visiting the a la carte restaurants.This hotel has a uniquely, friendly atmosphere and provides the perfect place for couples to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday.This is not the holiday for those who are seeking a noisy nightlife.

Just returned today from our stay at the Kenz. I have to say, it was a nice hotel in general. Everyone very friendly and not in a contrived way. On the one day that the sun managed to beat down it was wonderful and all was well with the world.
However, we found that the boredom began to set in after a couple of days of poor weather. The entertainment here is awful and reminded me of Butlins, or worse, Pontins. The getup that the poor entertainment team have to wear at all times is totally naff.
Waiters were all very nice and informative. Food was better than I expected but then I am not a very fussy person when it comes to food! Seemed to be an elderly clientele and this added to the quietness of the place.

We stayed at this hotel in February , on our first ever trip to Tunisia . I must say that after reading some of the reviews on this hotel before we went - I was a little worried , but the hotel was fantastic ! The staff were extremely polite and couldn't do enough for you - ok they were always willing to oblige in the hope of a good tip but thats just the way they are in Tunisia.
The hotel was extremely clean - the maids were never away from the room - towels were changed every day whether they had been used or not. Food was plentiful - with a very good selection - even for me! I'm a veggie!! lol! but always found something to have.
The entertainment was very good and varied ,at that time it was a Thomsons Gold hotel, which will change at the beginning of May , so not sure what will be available then .
If you want a relaxing holiday , lots of sun , and friendly staff and no kids in sight!!! ( the hotel does not accept anyone under the age of 16 )then I would recommend it . Tunisia does take some getting used to - dont expect it to be the same as Spain or you'll be disappointed , but go with an open mind and you'll enjoy the different culture. We enjoyed it so much that we are going back in the next couple of days for 2 weeks this time !! So I'll be able to update the review when we get back ! .

I visited this hotel with my parents for a winter holiday. we had never been to tunisia before and weren't sure what to expect, we found the tunisian people very friendly and the hotel staff in particular were very eager to please. the food was excellent but i can imagine that if you were staying at the hotel for 2 weeks it could be very repetitive, our waiter hedi was excellent and taught us all quite a lot about tunisia.
the beauty studio staff were fantastic and i would recommend them to everyone, the indian head massage is worth every dinar!
the only drawback that i could find with the hotel was that in the winter they cater for the slightly older generation on long stay holidays and i found as a 32 year old it was not exactly my cup of tea! also the thomson staff could have been better, the head rep was quite pushy re the excursions, but then again you can't please everyone.
I would certainly visit tunisia again and hope to stay at the royal kenz but maybe in the summer next time!
