The resort of Port el Kantaoui was beautiful. Where the miramar golf was situated, it wasnt that far to get to the marina, the marina was stunning and all the coffee shops and cafes there are really nice too.
There was a great shop called the Hawaii centre which was fantastic, it sold everything you could dream of, clothes, food, tunisian delicacies, and souvenirs. It was great and only a 5 minute walk from the miramar golf.
The only disappointing thing about the place but I think its the same in all foreign countries the pavements were really uneven so I advise if you want to take a walk around the port wear some sensible shoes because its very painful when you trip.
Overall though a great place.

We found PEK very very clean, Hardly no litter around realy.
Entertainment was ok, Again Tunisia is not the place for a night life anyway. Go to spain for that. Plenty to do around PEK.
The beach we found to be one of the nicest beach we ever been to, Went on for miles. And very clean, Ok the odd plastic bottle around, But that from tourist. Lovely sand and the clear waters was awesome.Plenty of watersports to do to.
Will defo go again.

The resort centre was a short walk from the hotel and the marina could be accessed from the beach adjacent to the hotel. Seven of us ate out for under £100 for three courses and three bottles of wine. Lots of shops and restaurants. Persistent shop keepers were a little off putting but did not spoil the holiday.
Drinks, snacks and trinkets were inexpensive.
We arranged a privated camel safari which was well organised, fun and free for the children. Parascending on the beach was a third of the price of some Spanish resorts.

This was my 11th visit to PEK and wish I was going back tomorrow!!
The marina is always clean and tidy, if you are up early you will see the men out cleaning and washing the streets every morning.
The shop keepers and guys in the marina who try to sell the trips WILL pester you but walking past and ignoring them works as they dont usually stray too far past their own area and after a few times they will get the message you aren't intrested and just say hello instead of pestering you.
There are some fixed price shops and i usually go into them as the staff dont bother you and I am not very good at haggling at all!
I am 29yrs old and female, I have travelled alone 3 times to Tunisia and never felt very threatened by the men in PEK.
There are many nice little cafes and restraunts around the port, in particular I would recommend the Neptune boat restraunt (6 of us ate there for £40 inc. drinks)and the Novou Marina Italian restraunt which is behind JasmineCafe 5 of us had a really nice lunch there and it only cost the equivalent of £20. inc. drinks, they give you complimentary appetisers and green tea with your meal, also in the summer you can use the pool outside the restraunt for free.
For a drink and mabye a chicha pipe in the marina with some crazy waiters to entertain you I would highly recommend the jasmine Cafe!!
If you walk right to the end of the port past all the cafes and shops you will find a diving centre, make sure you try diving there at least once before you go home!! I did and got hooked on it. The cost is about 30TD (£15) for one dive or 80TD for 3.....very reasonable!
The beach in PEK is spotless apart from cigarette butts everywhere but that is down to tourists being lazy more than anything! most hotels have private beaches with loungers etc for guests but you can take a walk for miles along the lovely white sandy beach and crystal clear waters.
At night the resort is very quiet at this time of year, most of the shops were starting to close up around 10pm and the bars/ cafes were desserted by about 11.30pm In the high season the shops are open long after midnight and the bars/cafes are closing up around3 or 4am. Most nights after dinner we just went for a walk round the marina or fountain area and sat in a cafe for a quiet drink. The fountains are beautiful when they are all lit up and dancing to the music.
There are a few night clubs, the only one I have been to was the Red Iguana which is out towards the Abou Sofiane hotel, We had a good night there a couple of years ago, not sure if it is open in winter or just high season.
If you want to find good night clubs the best bet would be to ask the younger locals working in the cafes or your hotel where they would recommend.
There is a tuk tuk service which is cheap and cheerful for getting around (a bit bumpy) or you can get a cheap taxi ride anywhere, just make sure they have the meter running or agree a price first so they can't rip you off!
For the kids there's a small zoo but I would recommend arranging a trip with your rep to Friguia animal park which is a much bigger zoo.We had a lovely day there.
There is also hannibal park near the fountain in PEK which has fun rides for the kids, dodgems, carousel, pedal boat swans and tea cup rides etc.
The aqua park isn't open at this time of year as it is still low season.
In the resort there is very little crime, i always leave my bag sitting beside me when on the beach or in a cafe and my phone on the table and have never had anything stolen, usually the waiters will pick up your phone take a look then offer to buy it from you and then give it back, if you say no they will then ask you to bring them one if you are planning on coming back next year.
I have never witnessed anyone trying to sell or use drugs, I have made many Tunisian friends now and not one has ever spoken of drugs to me.
If anyone out there is thinking of booking a holiday to PEK i would urge them to go for it.
Go with an open mind and remember a holiday is what you make it! Hopefully like me you will have a fantastic holiday you will rememeber forever.

I read a lot of reviews about the resort ,but you really have to visit to see for yourself.
Some will hate the continual hassle from the sellers ,some will love it. Personally I found if you gave a polite no thankyou it was fine.

We did not visit the beach.
The port was very pleasant, and the restaraurants were of a good standard, and very reasonably priced.
We got very little hassle, yes we did get asked to look at shops etc but a polite no and we were left alone.
Played golf at the Kantaoui course, again reasonably priced for 18 holes, good practice facilities, nice club house with keenly priced refreshments.
Visited Sousse, went to the museum which was very interesting and well worth a visit.
Went shopping in the Medina, and yes you do get hassled but no more than if you visit Turkey.
Just say no with a smile an keep walking, if they say they just want to ask you a question - they do but it is a ploy to get you into the shop.
If you get chance do visit El Djem - the roman Colosseum is very impressive.
I would go back to Tunisia and PEK.

The resort was very clean.
I found the resort fairly quiet, there was a small funfair for the children and shops.
The beach was clean of litter, though the seaweed was everywhere, I guess they clean it away when the beach is busy in the summer.

The resort of Port el Kantauoi is very much based on holidaymakers. Evening entertainment is based soley around your hotel. The harbour has a multitude of shops, bars and restuarants. Plenty of bartering if you want. In the evening at hte harbour the large fountain in the centre is lit up and some entertainment is held there lovely to see. Taxis are very cheap and a quick trip takes you to Sousse or Monastir, both of which have large shopping centres which are fixed price so no bartering needs to be done.

Resort was lovely and relaxing, the locals were a bit pushy with their wares.
Resturants are quite inexpensive for snacks and coffee,
we enjoyed a walk on the beach the sand is so different from at home, also the beacheswere nice and clean.
