Port El Kantauoi is not typically Tunisian - it's a modern manufactured resort which is quite nice around the marina but seems to sprawl for a long way in every direction. It has plenty of restaurants but is nothing special. It really operates as a hub for all the big hotels around it, including the excellent Diar el Andalous.

Excellent resort for all types. Plenty to do boat trips of all sorts, banana boats, fishing trips and glass bottom boats. Transport to Sousse is very easy either by taxi,tuk-tuk or noddy train. This hotel had it's own private beach with horse drawn cart there and back

Where do I start, the beach nearest to our hotel was small,it seemed to have alot of seaweed on it.

On the beach one day I saw a site never seen on holiday.... local men using the sea as a bottle bank! i arose from my towel to the horror of three men smashing bottles on the groin, everyone on the beach were amazed & started taking photo's until a group of angry Germans and hotel staff intervened, they casually walked off as if it was normal practice.

Needless to say we never went on that beach for the remainder of our holiday.

Unfortunately that was not the only problem faced on the beach, you name it we were offered it ,from t-shirts to
cigarettes, or chocolate almonds to hashish.& not one of them likes the words 'No Thanks'. we had to be rude in the end to a couple of them to shake them off.

My mistake was going to Tunisia for a romantic holiday to propose to my girlfriend , I feel if the harassments had have been less it could have been romantic but we both feel we will never return to a potentially lovely country.

In case you wondered I still proposed & she said yes still though! so one happy memory

The harbour was a lovely area but again we were pestered for boat trips & food ,it was a shame.

I spoke to an offical regarding the 'pestering' to which my reply was a reasonable one, saying it was low season & they all need to make a living & because they are all selling the same things it can be difficult for them.

This is our third winder holiday to Tunisia. Twice to Port El Kantoui and it realy is a very nice place to visit. If you go into shops and they try to sell yuo stuff a firm No thanks and not much eye contact does the trick. You get no problems then.

The waterpark is a cheap day out and fun too. The diving is very expensive too. Though not as good as Egypt but a good experience.

To get in to the harbour go to the castle like building as it can be hard to find if you don't know about it. Also the Brau house is good but you may get a bad stomach if you try their local brew, be warned.

The resort is well maintained and staff work hard to ensure that remains clean.

There were plentiful sunbeds available around the pool at any time of the day, although I imagine it could be different during high season. The outside entertainment around the pool was accompanied by music, which was enjoyable when not too loud.

The staff worked hard to entertain the holiday makers, hoever they seemed to find it strange that people were content to lie by the pool rather than playing games. The beach had enough sunbeds for those guests who preferred the beach to the pool and once again the area was clean.

Overall we had a great time and would return without a doubt, the only changes I would make would be to take a kettle (the only way to get tea/coffee is from the bars in the hotel or room service) and to take a couple of towels as you are issued one each at the pool or beach.

Overall worth the money and thoroughly enjoyable, just don't set your sights too high.

2nd time in Tunisia (said I would never return after visiting Hammamet a few years ago and hating it). PEK lovely spot, very clean, nice beach, lots of little cafes and shops. Seemed to be surrounded by golf courses which added a bit of an 'up market' feel to the place.

Marina with all the boats some offering trips was very attractive looking and very pleasant to walk round during the day and at night everything is lit up with fairy lights.

As we were on an A/I basis we didn't use PEK to eat out but did try a few snacks during the day and on our last night had a meal at one of the restaurants which we found to be 'average'.

Transport in and around the resort is readily available and it's not all that far from the airport. Would return.

The resort itself is very nice, especially the Marina area. The beach area which is reached by a tuk tuk is so so. Full of cig ends, and a few looky looky men who dont understand the words NO THANKS.

Going round the shops is like running a gauntlet, believe you me, we have visited Turkey so we have experienced the hassling.

Turkeys hassling is a walk in the park compared to this place!! You couldnt even glance at anything in the shops and they were on your case constantly and god help you if you didnt leave without a purchase.

It was even the same when you walked past the restaurants (the few that were). They all stood outside to entice you in and when they did (well we did have to eat),you saw them on their mobiles to their friends across the street making gestures of, 'ha, ha, i've got another in and you missed them !

All in all, that well earned relaxing holiday you thought you were getting isnt going to be relaxing at all (only at night whenshoppingd As i said, the hotel staff were a different breed of Tunisian. Well mannered A great holiday if you dont leave your 'complex'.

PEK is a lovely resort. Even though it is a purpose built tourist resort, it blends in nicely with the area. The marina is lovely and there are restaurants where you can eat lovely food at reasonable prices.

From the marina you can book boat trips and other excursions. There are dlophin trips available but we never saw any dolphins.

The shop keepers in the PEK area do give you alot of hassle, but if you are firm but polite they eventually get the message. Definetely shop around and do not buy at the first shop. Nowhere seems to have prices apart from supermarkets and restaurants. Do not pay more than 1/3 of the price stated because even then, the chances are the shopkeeper is making a considerable profit from you. If your lucky get a Tunisian friend to buy souvenirs on your behalf because tourist prices and local prices are way different. Also, if you want gold, go to Sousse, do not buy gold in PEK because the chances are it is gold plated and not real gold. I had this problem and had to threaten to get the police involved before the shopkeepers reluctantly refunded my hard earned cash.

Due to Ramadan many shops closed at around 5pm and the PEK area and marina were like a ghost town while all shopkeepers ate. This was the best time to go looking around as there was no hassle whatsoever as they are all so hungry they leave you be to browse. In the middle of the square in the evening, there is a fountain with lights and classical music. People gather in the square to sit down, listen to the music, watch the lights and relax.

Waiters spend more time out of the restaurants trying to get customers than inside serving the customers, it is quite amusing to watch.

The beach is lovely, clean and many watersports are available. There was not much hassle at the beach.

I would return to PEK as it is a lovely place, it is not the real Tunisia, but it is lovely nonetheless.

Would only recommend the resort if you like to banter with the locals as you dont get a minutes peace. Shame because the marina was lovely but only went once as the locals were quite in your face and intimidating. Weather was also dodgy as it rained and thundered for 3 days!
