The resort of PEK was alright not much outside the hotel until you got to the marina, would not really have felt safe walking there we always got the noddy train.

Not really much to do once you got to the marina one look was enough really. Dont know what it was like at night as to frightened to go.

Didnt like the Tunisian people for the most part.

PEK is a strange place, its nothing like anything else I saw in Tunisia, certainly not very Tunisian when compared to Monastir or Sousse or Tunis. It's obviously been purpose-built for tourists, with all the implications that usually involves - soulless yet clean and tidy. The opposite to Sousse, a vibrant place I can't wait to return to.

One must-go-to place in PEK is the best restaurant, Le Mediterranee, which was head and shoulders above all the others on offer, though admittedly the food came at a slightly higher (still cheap by UK standards of course) premium.

A great place to stay, the Marina (and just out side) area has enough restaurants/cafes to keep you busy, thought most of the shops all sell similar things.

The whole town is kept exceptionaly clean and tidy and I honestly can't remember seeing much litter (or street cleaners funnily enough...)

Travel into the more 'real' town of Sousse is as easy as it could be, with regular buses, taxis, Tuk-Tuks (shared taxed)and Noddy (tourist) trains.

Great beach, very nice at port area.

Plenty of bargains to be had in gift shops as long as you enjoy a bit of haggling.

The Port El Kantaoui itself is aptly named., and is entered under a small archway set in castle like entrance with a government set price shop at the archway, lovely goods on sale... down a very short cobbled path to the harbour which is filled with fabulous yachts and cruisers, the whole harbour is surounded with cafes, bars and shops of all sorts, also during the day you can get sea cruises on catamarans etc.

On the other side of the road facing the harbour, is a lovely fountain surrounded by cafes, shops bars, coffee shops, the fountains usually run at half hour intervals during the darker hours between 8.30 and 10pm and have coloured lights playing with music, not to be missed and suprise suprise, a nicely laid out fairground for children. plus a small zoo with cmales, rabbit guinea pigs etc.
Which kids will love.

It is completly safe to walk out at day or night. The locals all speak 4 or 5 languages, and are all very polite, don't be rude when the say hello, just answer them back, if they try to sell anything simply say NO THANK YOU and walk on.

Definately recommended

Purpose built in 1979 and benefits from it. Very clean with no traffic problems. Marina is beautiful, relaxed and civilised. This is not Blackpool and does not offer any attractions to the 18/30 disco party, living it large, binge drinking crowd. All the entertainment is in the hotels. The shops around the fountains provide some "Asda price - come into my shop - best price - are you British?" hassle. The shops around the marina are different with no hassle and some offering fixed prices. There are only tourists here, no locals live in the resort but it is very pleasant. The real Tunisia you can experience on a excursion - this is quality rest and relaxation. We would like to return to this delightful resort.

We stayed just outside Port el Kantoui.

The beach was very good with lots of watersports available including paragliding.jet skis.water ski-ing and windsurfing.

The resort itself is very modern with a beautiful marina.Took a catamaran trip and were lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins. There are lots of shops and bars,a really good aqua park and a small childrens theme park.

The numerous taxis makes getting around very easy. The perfect place for first time visitors to Tunisia.

Can tell it was designed for tourists, shops selling garments etc that are cheaper at home. Lots of hassle.

I think these shop keepers are killing there own ecconomy, dont go if you want to relax.

BE AWARE THAT FEW BARS AND CAFES ACTUALY SELL ALCHOLIC BEER AND WINE THEY USE A CALLEBER TYPE BEER (look out for celtia beer 5%)
