The marina is lovely, with bars and restaurants galore. There is not much to do in the evenings, though this was part of its charm for us.

Port El Kantoui
Nice purpose built resort in the 1970's, some parts are in need of renovation, but harbour and shops are great. Not much to do in evenings, best go to one of hotels for entertainment. Beach is great, golden sand, streets nice and clean. Good transport system. Excellent gold courses scattered all around, ideal for the golfing fraternity (we saw an awful lot)

There is a lovely harbour with some magnificant boats. Boat trips and submarine trips can be booked easily from here.
Plenty of shops and loads of bargains to be got if you can be bothered to barter for prices. We found that the best plan of attack was to stick together, stick to a price that we were happy with paying and if the shop keepers didn't initially agree, they would soon walk after you if you said thank you and walked away.
There was also a zoo and a small theme park at the harbour but we did not visit these.
As well as shops, there are numerous restaurants and these are extremely inexpensive. The people can be quite pushy but hey you have to remember that we are extremely rich compared to them and all they are trying to do is make a living, so remember to keep smiling.

Resort is really pleasant, probably suited best to couples and families.

Resort is great, not too fussed on shopping as people tend to push goods into your hands (please remember that this is their way of making a living)if you are polite and say no thank you they go away and leave you alone.
Marina is great has lots to offer, food, bars and lots of shops, must go on noddy train fun way to get there or pay 3 dinar in local taxi remember to set price before getting in.

Port el Kantaoui (the marina) was spotlessly clean and the shops and restaurants were great.
The people are really lovely and they don't make you feel uncomfortable. They are all very nice and are a good laugh. We met quite a few really lovely locals.
We went on the camel caravan it was an experience, a great one at that. The Pirate ship was good as well. We also went on the Shaka night it was brilliant. We went to the zoo, then had a 4 course meal and we were entertained by the North African belly dancers and South African Zulu dancers. It was a fantastic night out. The cabaret night was good too the reps did really well and the International Dream Girls were really really funny.
The beaches were all spotless and there is always heaps of water sports going on.
An amazing place with some great people.

To be honest we dont go very far at night as the hassle when you walk near any shop can be annoying. However be friendly and firm and they will not bother you.
Cleaner this year than last perhaps they are having a tidy up.
Last year children begged in the street, well picked flowers from the trees and then tried to sell them to you. They have all disappeared as well.
A good introduction to Tunisia if you are unsure.

Port El Kantaoui is a purpose built hotel area isolated in the main from the locals. It feels safe and the people were always friendly. The marina is well worth a visit or two, featuring shops, cafes, restaurants and boat trips. The trips can be fishing, glass bottomed or just partying depending on your choice. We did a glas bottomed (although it was actually glass sided) boat trip which was well worth the small price to see loads of fish.
There is also a small theme park there which we didn't visit, but from the gate it looks like a fun fair. Good for older children I'd think. We also did a quad bike safari and thoroughly enjoyed it, but be warned that the safety equipment of helmet and palm protectors is very old and rather smelly from previous users! I'd also say that the helmets are probably not going to be much good in a serious impact, but it's a small risk to your health for a great fun ride into the local countryside.
The weather was lovely even in October. Not too hot but we all got tanned nicely making work mates jealous when we got back. I hear it can be unbearably hoy in the summer so check before you go. Have fun. :-)
