Beaches

Resort clean looked quite nice. The entertainment was good every night. It made it better because we got on really well with the entertainment manager and upstairs bar man.
The beach was nice but few bugs crawling round kinda put me off.

The beaches are very clean and the sea was great, if you are looking for a pure beach holiday Tunisia is great but if you need some form entertainment Tunisia won't be for you. Most of the evening entertainment is hotel based and most of the bars/restaurants are very quiet with little atmosphere.

smelly resort, busy. if you enjoy being pulled physically into shops in the medina by desparate sellers then go and have a great time. very frightening experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sousse is a little tatty but remember you're visiting a poor country. There are a lot of building and derelict sites around but none that will disturb you at the hotel. If you want peace and quiet you can find it here.

Sousse is not the best maintained city but that is what makes it fascinating - watch the fast traffic, loose pavement stones and poorly maintained - everything.
Lots to see and do, days and evenings, and wonderful just to sit and watch the world go by. Main street cafe 50 pence for coffee! Beat that.
Don't get lost in the walled part of the city and avoid guides of doubtful type - they take you to places where they get the best backhanders - not the best prices. Try the Government shops who have fixed prices, but a haggle now and then can be fun, but don't do it just for fun.
Window shoppers are - to them - customers. If you don't want to buy it is best not to look. Avoid eye to eye contact at all times as it can be misconstrued.
Remember it is a Muslim country (although relaxed) so avoid showing too much skin (in the hotel grounds it is acceptable but out and about do as the Romans do. It is their country.
It is safe to walk about if you are male but females are best having company in public.

I stayed in the resort of Sousse and found it a very pleasant place to visit, although it was very busy it was cleaner than I expected for a very large Town.
there did not appear to be a lot of entertainment at hotels near to where I stayed guest's from other hotels came to our hotel for the entertainment and Disco,

The resort was quite dirty - my parents went 5/6 years ago and it seems to have been damaged by tourism. We weren't too bothered about going anywhere - but we went to the harbour - that took ages on the land train - it was good for my son on the train then after an hour the novelty wears off - but I still say u have to go on the train anyway. But Tuk Tuk's are best - quick and breezy.
The market is full of the usual - but you can probably get them from the hotel just the same - depends what your looking for. Some hassle in the market but just smile and move on. Very smelly drains - eggs. We went (by mistake) further up the beach that was Tunisian - and we got some dirty looks - so I don't recommend stumbling on their beaches.
The food - we didn't eat out much - but it was all junk and full of sugar. But if you like cakes there was a nice shop outside the shopping complex up the road from tour Kaleaf - V nice.
I wouldn't go again - getting dirty - nothing that stood out to me - I could have been in Spain.
The weather was hot - but a nice breeze. Some thunder storms - which were enjoyed from the balcony.
