There are no main supermarkets close by but you are able to buy basic food and water from the local shop. Our rep told us about a supermarker nearby which turned out to be a 20 minute walk away...
Whilst we were there, three people from our hotel were robbed. One was an elderly couple and the other was a girl who had her bag ripped from her when a motor cycle passenger jumped off a bike and dragged her to the ground.
Tunisia is a Muslim country and the people are very pushy and sometimes nasty when you don't buy their goods. All of the shops sell the same items - you can pick up some excellent bargains but you have to be prepared to haggle for 20 minutes first.
In all I would never go back to Tunisia again. The whole experience made me realise what other countries offer to British tourists and how welcome they make you feel. Tunisia has some lovely sites but unfortunately you don't feel safe enough to go and see them and we found that nobody does anything for nothing, even the taxi drivers try to con you.
Good luck to anyone unfortunate enough to be staying at the Tej Mahaba - you'll need it!

Sousse - lovely place, lovely locals, taxis plentiful and cheap. Stores and places of entertainment and food always open.
lf you like old and original, go now before some mogul moves in a ruins the place.

Sousse is I guess a typical Tunisian town, the people in the markets constantly hassle you & its hard to just 'window shop' as they don't seem to understand "just looking"!! The bartering can get a little tiring after a while but there are a few fixed price shops around. I can recommend the City Centre store (near the Marhaba Beach Hotel)whose prices where hard to beat anywhere else. We felt fairly safe walking about during the day but only went by taxi at night. Taxi's are rediculously cheap in the town area. Sousse Museum is a hidden gem.

The resort as a whole is brilliant.
The surroundings, staff, entertainment, facilities, beach -everything is great if your looking for a fun or easygoing holiday.
I was really sad to leave the resort and I hope I can go back soon!

The hotel is on the Port El Kantaoui side of Sousse. Port El Kantaoui is clean with a picturesque marina and good restaurants and shops however it could be anywhere in the Mediteranean. You need to visit Sousse for the true North African experience. Overnight trips are aso available to the Saharah Desert an experience not to be missed as is the Bardot Museum in Tunis and the Roman sights at Carthage. The beach area in Sousse is not much to write home about and the young men pedalling a variety of wares can be a nuisance, just avoid making eye contact with them!

I love Sousse! I have been there 3 times and it never gets boring. If your into your nightlife there's plenty to do if you find the right places. Food and drinks are cheap and there are plenty of places to eat.

I have to admit that we did not venture out often due to the fact that we met so many lovely people in the hotel and there was plenty for us to do and see. However, we did go out on a few occasions and were not disappointed. The beach was beautiful with sand like castor sugar!!! We had heard that we should be careful in the shops and markets and to make sure we were aware of our surroundings but we did not encounter any problems, the staff were friendly and happy for us to just browse around. We felt safe walking around the resort and we ate out at lunchtimes and a fantastic pizza place just around the corner from the hotel, although we did not visit any bars in the evening due to the entertainment in the hotel so can't comment on this. All in all we found the resort clean, with friendly locals and would definately return to Sousse.

Sousse out of season doesnt have much in entertainment but is great for seeing the real Tunisia. A trip into Monastir is a must while you are here.
Beach was real sand and still clean even with the strong wind and rain. Was surprised to even see fish in the Marina between the boats, not like the oil and rubbish usually found.

pessted every minute of the day with cigerette or other substances by street people, not always looking like the poorer community, these where young and older men makeing serious earnigs from this type of selling. The Medina was not for the faint hearted, but we had been warned of this prior, and also there where two reps in the hotel who offered a mornings tours and showed you at least two outlets in the medina that where fixed prices and no hassle - i strongley recommed this, and the other morning trip with the two same reps to Monistar and a small sightr seeing tour using the taxi and trains. A most enjoyable trip and felt completly secure and a sence of seeing the local attraction. again i strongle recommend this, and the two reps charged no fee for these trips, we just paid are fares and for beverages. The Solek (sunday market) was a frightening experience and we where lucky to come out of it in tact. Very very not for the small built person, you might not of come out of it to tell the tale!!! Worse than any thing i could of imagined, The Film "Casablanca" comes to mind. Got back to the Hotel very quickly and bathed and bathed in a hot tub with plenty on soap, I felt so unclean from being touched so much. I had no pockets on my attire but it never stoped some from trying to find them!!! My husbands zip pocket any thing had been tampered with - We purchased nothing we got out of there very very quickly which took us approx., 20 minutes because we had been hemmed in and where getting more hemmed in and forsed back by circles of, person who seemed to be of not good nature or good intentions!.
