The beach was lovely and market and bars within walking distance.

Didnt see much of the resort but there are some great Roman ruins - so much so that the entrance to the resort centre is restricted to minibuses that can get through the only Roman arch entrance!
There are lots of shops selling fakes and jewellery. Barter in the usual way! Theres a choice of bars and restaurants and a nice Harbour which arranges boat trips.
Tours booked locally are much cheaper than through the rep so be warned! Current local prices are - River Rafting full day £10, jeep safari £17 full day, Antlaya £3, Day boat trip with lunch £10, Aquapark £10.
Euros are mostly accepted with Turlish Lira. ATMs are readily available and Switch etc can be used. Just one word of warning - the main way for tourists into the resort was by the beach, and many of the hotels looked miles away from the centre. Some of the lower rated apartments are quite a way from the beach and in less good positions other than surrounded by bars and shops.
Hope this helps - enjoy yourself in Side!

The resort of Side is very good close to the town but is not so good further a field.
It has its own ampitheatre and roman ruins and also many shops.

I would not recommend taking Turkish Lira as they rip you off. I would take euros as everything is priced in euros.
This resort is mainly for the Russians and Germans so don't expect many English speakers.

Side is a mainly German speaking resort and the peninsula area /old town is lovely, its ideal for sun & beach lovers who enjoy archaeology, long evenings chatting over food and drink. But if you want lively clubs and pubs go to Marmaris or Bodrum.
The shop and restaurant owners / employees can be overpowering as you walk by them at first 'all trying to get you to enter their premises ' BE POLITE AND SAY NO THANKS.
We hired a car, which was an adventure, but it allowed us to explore some other places nearby. The Roman theatre at Aspendos and Manavgat waterfalls are well worth a visit.
We had a great time and although the prices have risen some we got value for money we love Turkey and the Turkish they were so friendly and really love kids.
Enjoy your holiday we did.

The resort wasn't too bad on the whole. It is just outside Side so there isn't a great deal to do but we did anticipate this. The food in the nearby restaurants was good and also very reasonably priced. Where else would you get a chicken kebab for 60p! The beach was not, however, very nice and was dirty and overcrowded with sunbeds. The roads are very good but in general the Turkish drivers are a little crazy so if you are renting a car beware!

Hotel Kaya has its own section of the beach with watersports, which we all had a go at banana boats, jet skis and paragliding (banana was my favourite goodfun):-)
you can either walk round the lake or just go down the beach (2 mins walk) to get to the village, again very friendly Turkish people.
Mangavat 6 Euros in a taxi takes about 10 mins (market mondays and thursdays), and Side 10 Euros and takes 15 mins.
We only went to Side twice but later into our holiday, wish we had gone more because its so beautiful especially the harbour and shopping area.

The resort has a nice feel to it, clean and tidy and great shopping in the Town centre or the Local shops. They even alter your trousers while you wait!!!
Umets Pida & Kepap Restaurant opposite the Hotel Side Prences was a real gem of a find. Loads of Local's eat there, in fact it is always open 24/7. Spotlessly clean (especially the toilets) the food was inexpensive and of the highest quality, just so good you must try it - you will go back!!
A good Chinese restaurant nestled next door as well - lots of choice. The main Pedestrianised Side town centre, served by the Dolmus Mini-buses and a Tractor Train, was really nice, with it's 2000 year old Roman Ampitheatre and Apollo Temple ruins in plentiful supply among the pretty shops and restaurants along to the picturesque harbour.
Bank cash machines easy to find, loads of Restaurants - just watch out for the "Fish Rip Off" in this area, (likewise watch the price of wine), get a total price for the fish first (not per kilo) or you will get a shock.
The Main Beach was busy and good people watching, but too crowded. We explored and found the “Big Beach” on the other side of the Town centre. This was far better.
We found the “Relax” Beach Bar and enjoyed a great sandy beach, free sunbeds and umbrella’s. The staff were brilliant and they even arrange a Mini-Bus service to pick you up and drop you back – all free. Just use their bar or restaurant for lunch and they are happy. This really made our holiday!! Ask a taxi to take you to the "Relax" Bar and take it from there. Taxi was £4 for 4 persons. Resort Prices are generally in Euro's.
Side itself, is mainly populated with German Tourists but with a mix of all other European Guests, but it is probably the nicest of all the resorts I have stayed in in Turkey. Everyone seems very nice, but I am pretty street wise regarding Turkey. You must try the Jeep Safari - great excursion, and a Boat trip.
I will go back to Side - probably to a better Hotel.

Liked the resort of Side and the historic element. The Apollo temple is well worth a visit by day and by night
Plentty of bargins in 'shark street'
Very quaint little place with loads of ruins to explore.
Big beach looked very nice, we stayed in Kumkoy wich was only a short taxi ride away. Very easy.

Side, Turkey. The resort was good with lots of good pubs, restraunts etc. Traders can be pushy whilst touting for buisness so you need to be firm. Lots of bargains and good for shopping. Day trips are a lot cheaper with local providers and worth a look. Easy to get around with the local dolmus bus service. Wasnt too impresses with some of the toilet facilities, there not what you are used to at home. Lovely place with ancient ruins around the resort.
