First time in Turkey for myself, second for husband. We were apprehensive about the "hassle" factor, but recently the law has cracked down on this and anyone caught intimidating tourists will be shut down. Mostly the guys will ask you to come in and/or offer a menu. take one, nod and say maybe, no hassle. They are pleasant so it's no effort to be plesant back. There is plenty to see and do, from karaoke to restaurant. not too british, and is also popular with Turks on holiday so there's a good mix. Make sure you find BLUE OCEAN BAR(next st. to Cheeky charlies barber) for food and company, we were gutted we found it only at the end of our holiday. Fantastic English and Turkish food.Even do cool boxes for trips out and airport transfers which saved us a packet. We'll be returning for definite!!

The resort was busy and lots to do. The eating places down on the harbour were not as nice and the staff were not as friendly as they were in Dolphin Square. The beach was also busy. Lots of bargains to be had if you had the patience to barter.

Altinkum was beautiful with a clean beach. It was the safest beach I've been to. The water remained shallow for quite some distance and my 8 year old son could play safely in the water. The people of Altinkum were friendly and welcoming, but could be a bit pushy when trying to get your custom. Overall, its a fantastic resort with plenty to do and see. The funfair was fantastic, great food. I recommend a boat excursion and a trip to the waterpark near Kusadasi.

The resort itself was much better than the hotel. Some bars were great some were'nt as good. Watch out for live strip shows in some hotels that start early when the kids are still awake. There is also a few bars were dancers go topless not great for childrens eyes. The Beach was great, easy to get a sunbed at the front of the water, cartoon charecters dress up and the children are able to get photos with them, in which you have to pay for of course. I dont think i would ever visit this resort again.

We thought this resort was fantastic!! Cleanliness was never an issue as far as i remember and this is coming from someone who is obsessed with hygeine!
The entertainment is great and there's so many places to choose from! All are lively and most have their own dancers as well! Probably not the ideal resort if you like quiet evenings though. Ive been to places like Ibiza and Crete and its not as noisy and 'clubby' as those resorts but i think they've achieved a happy medium. If you want to go clubbing you can, if you just want to have a meal and go to a bar for a quiz and some cheesy music then you can also do that. The streets arent filled with drunk people being sick late at night either which is always a bonus in my book! I have been there over new year out of season as well and although its extremely quiet, a lot of the places are still open. I wasnt so lucky in Feb though when i went to Costa Brava and it was like a ghost town. Altinkum all the way!
The beach is also lovely! I believe it has been awarded a blue flag. Gets very busy though at the height of season so either get there early or be prepared to trample through bikini clad bodies to try and find yourself a spot!
Im going back there again next week and hope to have as much fun as i did on my previous visits! :-D

Altinkum is a lovely place to stay. It is very clean, no litter, all toilets are immaculate and the beach is wonderful. Third beach is the best one for the Brits to use.
If you ring Deniz restaurant from reception they come and fetch you and take you home but you are expected to use the bar/restaurant.
Dolphin Square is where all the bars and shops are. You do have to run the gauntlet of people hassling you into their places but a polite 'No Thanks' always works.
The shops are all much the same, fake designer clothes, shoes and bags. There are some great jewellry shops but beware they can easily talk you into paying more than you intended!
The shop keepers won't let you browse though, they will be at you to buy something but will let you barter. We took a small amount of Turkish money and the rest in Sterling.
It was very easy to change in shops (jewellers give the best rates) and bars and most places will accept sterling as payment. A lot of the bars and restaurants have a free car service so you don't have to walk graet distances if you don't want to.
As a first time visitor to Turkey we had a great time and I think we chose well but Turkey isn't the cheap place it used to be.
We expected everything to be a lot cheaper than Spain etc but most of the shops and restaurants are now nearly on a par with other countries.

altinkum was a great place for a holiday beaches were lovely resturants were excellent although a little bit of hasseling from the waiters outside but we took it in our stride as we just said that we had already eaten.they were very polite andwhen we did eat in them the service was fantastic they couldnt do enough for you.they all remember your name allthough towards the end of the holiday it sometimes got a little tiresome.do go on one of the boat trips we had a lovely time and only 20 pound for the whole day including lunch.also the aqua park is a must for the kids absolutley massive.watch out for the breakdancers it takes you back to the 80s a lot of fun watching them.
dolphin square really comes alive in the evening.all in all a lovely rsort for all ages and we would definatley go back.
