Have to try Tommy's bar (2 minutes over the road) - fantastic food and service - Also Meryhem (a 10 minute walk towards square) is absolutely the best if you like local cuisine - try the mixed meze starter - WoW!

Plenty of lovely restaurants close by, and depending if you like Boom Boom bars or places for a chill drink, everything is on your doorstep, but doesn't interfere with your sleep.

We travelled with Yesil Dalyan, a Turkish company. Avoid their rep at all costs. He is not there to help you or give you transfer times (those he faxes to the hotel the day before you leave). His only purpose is to sell you trips, and as there are no trade description laws in Turkey, he does this very well by lying. He tells you that this is free, that is free, you wont need any more money - all lies and got us in much trouble! He tells you that his trips are insured and if you do it locally you are not insured. Also a lie - why else did you get travel insurance! If you want to do trips, arrange them with the people who do the work. For example, he will sell you a diving trip for £32. He tells you all is included (which is not true as you have to pay for drinks and extras). If you get the bus (which travels every few minutes and costs about 40p) to Marmaris, walk along the harbour, you can get the same trip for less than half the price. I cannot stress enough, do not take trips with the rep. He lies and just wants your money, and if anything goes wrong you are stuffed.
The resort of Icmeler is great. It can be as quiet or lively as you want. The market on Wednesday is a must for amazing bargains. Beware of the "hassle factor" If you do not want to be hassled, do not shake hands with anyone. Once you do this you have given permission for them to hold you there. Bartering is a way of life in Turkey so you can get the prices even lower. Also beware of the jewelery sellers. I heard stories of them selling a good piece of jewellery, then boxing up something inferior to the item you think you have purchased.
Ladies - many Turkish men appear to want an English girlfriend, and this can be quite flattering if like myself you are "past your prime". However if you are not interested, beware of the free things they will offer you. I lost count of the number of free massages I was offered - Even in "reputable" massage places. It does not take a genius to work out that they are trying to get you naked in a private room and want to rub oil all over the place! Nor does it take a genius to work out that next week they will be doing it with someone else.
The Turkish are very friendly and work very hard. They do stop you to ask you into their bar/shop/restaurant etc, but also accept "no thank you".
A word of warning about the mosquito truck. There is a truck which looks a little like a road sweeper with a yellow flashing light. It goes all round the resort spraying a thick smoke full of chemicals to kill the mosquitoes. If you see it coming, get as far off the road as possible. And do not assume that this means there are no mossies, I got eaten alive!

Icmeler is a great resort and is always very clean, there is always lots of entertainement that will suit everybody, the beach is ok but is shingle, if it was sand it would be perfect then!

The resort was closing the week we were there (w/c 15th October) We felt like we lived there, there were so few tourists, and everyone knew us as we walked by.
We'll be back.

We have been to Icmeler ten years previouly, enjoyed it then and again this time around. It's a lovely resort and we would recommend it to anybody wishing to holiday in Turkey.
Something for all ages, especially if you like sea, sand and boating. It's a nice place to walk about in the evening, with plenty of places to eat out or even just visit a Bar and chat.
The mountains are all around, and even out to sea making it spectacular. Of the four places we've hoildayed in Turkey, Icmeler takes some beating.

Icmeler is quieter than marmaris but is still busy with lots to do. there are plenty shops, restaurants and bars - the 3 bells (with four bells outside) - you'll understand if you go - is wonderful, excellent food and service!!

The resort itself looked ok but to get the most of it you needed to take a cab or bus into the harbour area, we were only really on the outskirts but it is cheap enough, one lira for as far as you want to go on the bus!
Where we actually stayed entertainment was very limited apart from our hotel entetainment we saw very little in way of entertainment!
