The Hotel was so basic i thought it was a bit of a joke, although we went bed and breakfast we had breakfast a couple of times as it was that bad!
Many others were making numerous complaints!
Check the hotels facilities, ie tv etc.
Not the best hotel for couples may i add not with 2 single beds.
A TIP FOR THOSE GOING: Dont forget to keep your receipts should you buy things as they charge you when you leave and mine had a few discrepancies!
The location was ok, not too difficult to get to the beach etc.
The entertainment was just none excistent.
I dont know about the other hotels in Marmaris but this one made me feel like i dont want to go back.

We arrived after a long delay and were made to feel very welcome room and pool side was very clean, food was very basic but suited us. Location was good, entertainment was abit poor only had 2 nights worth of entertainment. Staff were very friendly.

We travelled on the 14th september 05, and did not know what to expect, this was our first time to Marmaris although we have been to Icmeler many times.

From the outside the hotel looks lovely, however this changes as soon as you enter reception, the staff are on reception proved to be unhelpful and slimey, they didnt want to help with queries, but where quick enough to take money off you for drinks bought in the hotel, they also questioned anything you bought outside the hotel, I.E Water, drinks, crisps etc, they said you weren't aloud to bring them in as the hotel sold them what they failed to mention was the prices they charged for these.

Hotel was clean, although the towels looked ancient and as though they had been put in with the darks, very grey and murky.

Hotel bed linen was not changed once in the week we stayed there.

The rooms are very basic, all you've got, is your bed and a bathroom plus a little dressing table with stool.

Showers are really really small,they arent suitable for anyone over a size 16, unless you have one with shower curtains (higher floors only) rather then doors, they soaked the floor everytime you used them.

Balconies where of a good size, consisted of two chairs only.

The Rep Nic for Thomas cook was very helpful couldn't fault the guy, brilliant, always had a smile on his face.

The pool is fantastic, very clean, spacious and also a slide which was alot of fun, the pool looks lovely lit up on a night with the water fountains going, although if you want a sunbed be prepared to set your alarm for 8am and go put your towels on one otherwise by 9.30am there isn't one in sight. You will find alot of people do this.

The restaurant staff are nice, a couple of them jump in the pool during the day and have alot of fun, they go down the slide and do back flips into the pool, very entertaining.

I definetly won't go back to this hotel, too basic,and not as nice as Icmeler or hotels I've stayed in previously.

Didnt like this hotel at all, we only got clean bedlinen and towels after asking at reception and even at that we still had the same pillow cases after 2 weeks.

The staff were very unhelpful,unless you were blonde and female.

Some days no hot water at all,the pool area and dinning area was very dirty,most mornings we had to wait for clean cups and glasses at breakfast.

Could't recommend this place to anybody.

On first impressions this hotel looks great, the pool looks really impressive, however looks can be very deceiving.

The rooms are small with very limited space for clothes and our bathroom was dirty on arrival.

For the first week we were in a room on the 3rd floor. The decor is very dated, and the shower cublicle was very, very small. I'm a size 8 and I was just a comfortable fit. The other couple we travelled with had a room next to us, they didn't have a cubicle just a shower curtain, which was no use as everytime they had a shower it flooded the bathroom. For the first week we had very limited hot water and some days no hot water at all. The beds were changed only once in the first week, and the towels (which are already grey and look like they have been used to clean floor for several years) were only changed if we left then on the floor next to the door. After a week we were fed up and complained to the rep who managed to get us moved to rooms on the 4th Floor. These rooms had just be renovated, and the rep informed us that all the rooms in the hotel will be updated by next year. The rooms were lovely, and we had constant hot water. However we still had the same problems, the towels and the beds were not changed. For the 14 days we stayed the beds were changed only 3 times and the bathroom in both of the rooms we stayed in was not cleaned once. At one point in the holiday the maids did not enter the room for 3 days.

The staff are very unhelpful, and all the hotel guests we spoke to had had the same problems as us.

On a plus side the location of this hotel is great, about a 10 minute walk to the sea front.

Would I stay in this hotel again. I think not.

We stayed in the Balci Hotel, Marmaris, Turkey. When we arrived the rooms were basic but clean. The view wasnt great but hey, you cant have it all!
Yes the shower is small and a bit of a pain, and the mattresses / pillows do resemble a block of wood but other aspects of the hotel make up for it.

Although we had bed and breakfast, we didnt actually make it (as you can appreciate the beer is cheap and therefore attempting to get up before 10 was kind of impossible) We did however have a couple of meals there, and they were really nice!!

The hotel staff were great (especially reception who helped us a great deal) The pool and slide are amazing although for grown ups mostly (its 180cm throughout)

The beach is literally 5-10 mins walk and there are some amazing resteraunts round the corner (I would recommend the Rainbow, Scotts and Jacaranda)

I would recommend the balci for couples who want a cheap and cheerful place to stay, although watch out for thieves on Maramaris beach - we had a bad experience!!!

Warm welcome on arrival with help with the luggage.

The room is basic not much space for clothes, shower doors narrow to get in and out. The bed was very comfortable and linen was clean.

The pool is long and deep ideal to swim in, however kiddies pool is small. Plenty of loungers and both sunny and shady spots around the pool.

Drinks and snacks reasonable and good but would not recommend evening meal, Lamb was tough and fatty, far better in Marmaris itself.

We had booked Bed and Breakfast, it is a Turkish breakfast, just could not face the cucumber and olives first thing in a morning so ate out for breakfast.

Staff work hard in making your stay memorable and the
Hotel is well located just a short walk to shops and bars.

The welcome was warm and friendly and assistance giving taking cases to the rooms.

The rooms are small the bathrooms/showers in particular were very small for a man of my size getting in and out of the shower was a really squeeze.

Room service was excellent those silent women who move about the hotel whilst we're out enjoying ourselves kept our rooms clean, linen change every couple of days.

The front line bar staff which are the heart of the hotel were friendly and effective, prices at the bar are very reasonable.

The pool was great, probably one of the best in any of the smaller hotels around and about, quite deep at 1.8m but the kids loved the water slide. Plenty of sun loungers, the pool area was maintained in a clean and safe way.

As for the food the Turkish breakfast served as part of the B&B arrangement was ok, but after a couple of days we were crossing the road to buy and English breakfast. I would recommend that no one buy an evening meal in the Al-a-carte resturant as the food quality was very poor, compared to the prices paid on the sea front.

Saying all this we did have a good holiday, whilst a lot of things could be improved on in this hotel we had no great complaints.

Me and my boyfriend loved this hotel and would recommend it to anyone. Our room was cleaned almost every day, the maids were very honest and we did not have any problems with things going missing from our room (as i have experienced in other hotels). Safety deposit boxes are next to reception and cost

After reading the reviews about the Balci we didn't have very high expectations for our holiday. But to say I was relieved when we got there is an understatement.

The hotel isn't perfect but it is not as bad as the reviews I have read.

The room we stayed in was on the top floor as was huge compared to other rooms in the hotel, there were a few problems such as very limited hot water in the room (I had one hot shower during the 2 weeks I stayed there!! but you do get used to it, it all depends on the time you take a shower).

The Pool and Bar area were great, snacks in the bar were very reasonably priced and very nice too.

The staff in the hotel definitely made our holiday and we have made some great friends.

I would definitely return to the Balci and would recommend it to anyone!! I wish I was still there!
