Thought excelsior was very clean and the maids were great
they were very kind to my 3 year old son.

The waiters weren't particulary friendly they used to hover over you for tip which i didnt think was very approriate as we would have gave them a tip anyway when we had finished.

Didn't find the rules by the pool applied much for example towels on beds before 8am we had to get up around 6am to get a bed and that even wasn't a good one!!and when you have had a late night you dont wanna get up early just so you can have a relaxing day by the pool.

Thought pool was ok slides were good for the kids the pool intself was ok quite busy so it wasn't as relaxing
as you would want.My husband had to watch our sun in the little pool as it was quite easy for him to fall over in it.

We requested a pool view 14 months ago but got one around the back facing some apartments in one of our rooms and faced a satalite dish and generator!!We wasn't very happy.

All in all the hotel was clean enough a couple of the staff like jimmy and the tattoo man were very friendly.
When we visit again we won't be visiting this hotel again!!

We stayed in Exelsior Apartments for the 2nd time and had an excellent holiday.

The maids cleaned the room regularly and the hotel was very clean.

The bar and entertainment staff were excellent, especially Tom, Jack, Erhan and Yilmas.

The food was excellent.

Everybody was there to help you throughout.

The pool was clean and we didnt have a problem getting sunbeds most of the time. There was a lot for the children to do to keep them occupied.

Altogether a wonderful holiday and hopefully we will be going back next year!

My family stayed in the Jr apartments. When we got there we were treated with respect and smiles all around. The receptionist was very helpful and glad to help.

Our apartment over looked the swimming pool which was very nice. The apartment itself was ok but could have a lick of paint.

The Bar staff were polite but fussed a lot round me and my cousins which I found annoying at times, but I do miss the stars of the holiday Elvis, Yulimaz, Jesus, Sami and Baha they were great!

I wouldn't go back again though, I didn't enjoy it that much to go back.

We stayed in Junior, location was good, entertainment ok but repetative.

I would go again but the waiters are very friendly...over friendly, especially Yilmaz but don't always believe what they say they are doing a job to bring you back girls beware.

The hotel is about 20 min walk to the resort centre. we found it expensive to eat and drink at the hotel.

The staff were friendly.(the waiters too friendly with the girls!!!!!!!!!!!!).

You had to get up at about 7am to get a sunbed. It is quite noisey at night.

We have just returned from Club Excelsior where we have holidayed for the past 3 years.

The hotel is spotlessly clean thanks to the excellent cleaners who visit every day. Always leaving the towels folded artistically and on occasion leaving flower petals on the beds. A nice touch. We stayed at the back of the hotel on the top floor which was nice and quiet.

The food in the hotel was good and comparable to many restaurants in the town. We ate there a few times but preferred to travel into town and eat at one of the many first class restaurants Marmaris has to offer ie Casa Bonita in the harbour,The Garden Restaurant, Alfresco or Oh yes.

The only slight complaint I have was that on the second week of our holiday we were struggling to get a sunbed. People were reserving beds as early as 3 and 4 am!

Club excelsior is a fantastic place to stay plenty of fun, good food and excellent staff. I could not fault this hotel at all.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming especially, Turhan, Tayfun, Muzi, Ismet, R2 there are too many to name but they are all class.

The entertainment staff are wicked and always out to please.

The food is lovely there are two parts to the hotel the club and excelsior I stayed in the cub but the junior is also good fun, staff, entertainment and food.

Altogether there are three pools a jaquzzi and two slides a lot of fun for younger and older people.

It is only a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi ride down to the centre of the town and there is a taxi depot right outside the hotel.

I have just come back from this hotel on the 5.8.2005, I travelled with my husband & my 7 year old son.

The Excelsior itself:

It was very well kept, the place was spotless clean, the rooms were cleaned most days.

The staff in the hotel were lovely, a lot of good lucking waiters tho so you mums & dads with young girls keep any eye on them (only joking). It is a case though of young girls having those holiday romance with the good looking waiters. The waiters do egg the girls on like but in no way do they make any moves towards them your kids are well safe.

It is right that getting a sunbed is a hopeless task if you are up after 8 ish, even the ones that are available at 8 ish are the ones that are mostly in the shade. I was very disappointed to see people getting up as early at 6 O'Clock to put a towels on sunbeds so as they could get there speck, this wasn't just a few people doing it it was everyone. So a bit of advice if you like bathing around the pool make sure you get up early to get a bed.

Around the pool is very slippery when wet as it is tiled, so for parents with young kids just be very careful, a lot of small children when I was there had some very nasty falls. I found my son had a lot of blisters of some sort on all of his toes I can only assume this was from the bottom of the swimming pool as quite a few other kids had them to. It may be advisable to get a pair of swimming shoes for your children.

The food in the hotel restaurant is spot on but not cheap, I would strongly advise you to try the restaurant out tho as we had a few meals outside the Excelsior to but found nothing did quite compare with the top class food served at this restaurant. I don't say the snack food is as good though.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which I found to be a little on the small side for the living area but we only stayed for a week so it was bearable. There was no cockroaches or mosquito's in our room although I must say I did get a few mosquito bites whilst on holiday, so my advise is get a mosquito repellent as I did see some people with some really nasty bites.

The hotel entertainment was ok always something going on.

My son had a brilliant time at Club Excelsior infact it is one of the only holidays were we seen very little of him as there was something always going on to keep the kids entertained, you did feel safe leaving your kids to run around the hotel as well it was really safe.

The hotel has Karaoke, Bingo, Darts, Pool competitions, Turkish Dancing, Horse Racing, Raffles, Magicians, water polo. The hotel has happy hour between 8-9 were you buy one get one free its good if you drink lager but if you drink shorts I reckon they just split the one measure of vodka or whatever you are drinking into the two glasses as you can barely taste the alcohol. I never had one hangover in Turkey which I a little unusual for me, not saying I am a plonky but just never seemed to feel the effect of the Turkish alcohol. Then from 9-10 they have cocktails on buy one get one free, never tried them so cant comment.

Weather:

The weather was really hot the the coolest day we had was 35 degrees the hottest being 45 degrees & believe me it is really intense the heat. I have been to many countries in the world but never experience heat like Turkey, so be sure to bring your high factors, the are a must.

Beach;

The beach in Marmaris is a 20 minute walk from Club Excelsior but it's not all that great when you get there. The sand is shingle & very gritty, not one of the best beaches I have visited, but it is nice to go to the beach to get a bit of a breeze.

Your transfer time from Dalaman to your resort is approx 90 minutes & you do stop after 45 minutes for a break, be sure not to buy too much at things there are quite expensive.

What to wear in Marmaris:

I found it was very warm of a night not chilly like some places can be it was about most nights 25 degrees & very clammy. I found most people (women I mean) did dress for the night it wasn't a case of going out in your shorts so just a bit of advice for you ladies.

Supermarkets in Turkey:

I found them a bit on the rubbish side, not a great deal of variety to choose from. If you like your little nibbles make sure you pack some in your cases. If you like to have a drink on the balcony of your hotel make sure to buy your drink in the duty free at Manchester/Liverpool as you see very little of our makes in Turkey. I bought a bottle of vodka whilst in Turkey & I swear to god I could have drank the whole bottle & still not felt the benefit It was like water.

Turkey does have a market on a Wednesday ask someone about it when you get there it is close to the beach, it is a must you can get fake stuff really cheap.

You do have air conditioning in your room but it is only in the living quarters of the apartment, so if you choose to sleep in the bedroom it can get very warm.

Would I go back to Marmaris & stay in the same hotel?
I would say No I would not go back to Marmaris to start with although it really was a lovely place, secondly I would not stay in the same hotel as I just found it a bit on the busy side for me.

I must say tho that there were people we spoke to who booked year after year to stay there so it does have some really good things going for it. It does all depend really on what you are looking or in your summer holiday.

To sum up my holiday I would say I had a great holiday at Club Excelsior but next time I would be looking to book something a bit more on the quieter side somewhere with a bit more space & somewhere with a nicer beach.

Found the Hotel to be of a high standard of cleanliness but let itself down on simple things like broken glass in the pool took a long time to be cleared despite being told several times. Children loved the pool and the water slides but like other reviews both my children along with most other kids we knew got blisters on their feet.

Again if you are up after 8 am No beds available.

Hotel food was okay but other local restaurants served better quality food and at better prices.

Beer prices are expensive 4 Lira a pint. Other local bars carging as low as 2 Lira.

Location was okay for families but for more night life Town centre is better ( 20 min walk or 5 min Taxi ride ( 9 Lira Charge ).
