I've spent today ironing and packing as I go!! I am sure I will still be rushing on Thursday.
I have just received a phone call from trading standards explaining to me that First Choice are in Breach of Contract and that the kids den is not as described so I can claim under the Supply of Goods & Services Act. I have to write a letter explaining this to First Choice and to let them know what payment I am willing to accept. If their reply is not acceptable I am then to contact trading standards and let them know. They have also said I should contact ABTA http://www.abta.com/ and inform them.
If you want I can let you know how I get on?
Best wishes.
We booked yesterday for the tropical, can't wait, we fly out on September 9!
Can someone tell me if the bars are open after midnight, and if so are the dirnks expensive?
Also, is there a disco after midnight?

Hi have i missed something about the kids den,i`ve booked one of those,do you get a seperate room with a tv & a playstation in?
I am afraid you only get one tv and ours was in front of the double bed and not in the kids den. We asked for a seperate tv for the kids den and was told 'no, the brochure is worded wrong'!!!
I am in the process of claiming for a full refund of the £224 supplement but they are adamant the only will refund 50% £112. My argument is that I would never have booked the kids den if the only extra was bunk beds and a playstation that had to be wired yourself into the 1 tv in our room.
Hardly a 'kids den' !
We actually never got the playstation, and had been told on here that if we'd got it we would have had to pay a £100 deposit, or give a credit card imprint but i don't have a credit card. The deposit isn't mentioned anywhere in the brochure.
Is that right, is it a £100 deposit to hire a Playstation? I'm sure that FC haven't mentioned that in any of their info!
apparently it is the case, i had heard that before we went so got my local first choice branch to confirm it. It may be possible to get round it by taking photocopies of the passports of all the people in the kids' den room. I did take the copies with me, but when the playstation wasn't delivered the morning after our arrival, (which is when we were told it would be delivered, by the rep when we arrived), i decided not to pursue it, unless the boys got really bored at any time. it seemed more trouble than it was worth.
Hi, when we went last year the deposit for the playstaion was £50. We used the card method and when we returned it they gave us the credit card slip.
We were one of the first few in and had an OK time but realised its potential for a few years down the line.
We saw on GMTV last year that the two hotels had made the queues at the bar VERY long indeed. Is that still the case this year can anyone tell me please?
It does seem a big con as I would have much preffered the jaccuzzi suite but having young kids the seperate TV & Playstation sounded a good offer so me and the other half could get some time on our own in a quieter part room.
They are so small and light it won't really make that much difference to your luggage.
You can play DVDs then aswell.
Thats what we're going to do.
I agree, definitely take your own playstation 2 as all they do is pass it to you in a box and you have to wire it up yourself! With the supplement at £224, you could buy two playstations! The rooms are exactly the same as a family room albeit bunk beds with yellow and blue walls
Hi I have moved your post to the currency discussion - Briar

I've written to first choice now, quoting the brochure description, and that they are in breach of contract as they've contravened the supply of goods and services act, and asking for the supplement to be refunded. I can't say I hold out much hope though, but if i hear anything, either way, i'll post the information.
