I went in to a couple of major High Street travel agents on saturday - they were very keen to sell me a holiday to Goa for the forthcoming season and one even offered to download a Visa application form and give me the london address where to send it! When I asked about the possibility of no postal applications being accepted they knew nothing about it and said to send it off - everything would be fine!!! :?: :rofl

Thanks milliemeg,
I rang them after seeing your post and the person I spoke to asked me to send my passport back and address it to him personally and he would correct it.

Has anyone been to the Huddersfield surgery please? How much extra do we have to pay on top of the visa and do we still have to pay by postal order or do they acept cash/cheques/credit cards? Thanks.

Checked with Sikh Leisure Centre (Huddersfield) today (01484 450650), and they have a surgery 17/11/07. Total cost is £40.00, and must be made by postal order. Doors open 9.30 a.m. Very likely to see you there! :)

Thanks a lot for that Phoebe. Hope to get there well before 9.30, let's hope its not raining!

P.S. Phoebe - that's my birthday! What a way to spend your birthday - queuing for a visa. Never mind all in a good cause.

i live in plymouth and they are procesing mine, i asked them first and they said i wouldn't be any problem. so i shouldn't think it would be for you because you are closer to birmingham than me.
do remember though to download the application form from the birmingham website.

you could of course phone your travelshop.com to make sure the number is 08707550716/5

The press release is to inform that the HCI will be outsourcing the visa/passport services. This will be for London, Birmingham and Edinburgh. The date of 10th of October is the deadline for all interested parties to register an interest.

At least we now know the reason for the latest fiasco regarding the withdrawal of the postal application service!

What a shame that they couldn't carry on with the system as it was until they were able to appoint the Agency who are to carry out the postal applications on their behalf. Can't really understand why they are bothering with this 'stop-gap' measure in the meantime.
