When do you go Ann, depending on how wrong the spelling mistake is, I think I would insist that the error is corrected, just to be on the safe side.
our surname is Martin and they have Mertin on the visa.
waiting a call back from the agent,so hope it can all be
sorted ,don,t fancy sending passport,s back again.

O Ann what a dilemma, not much of a mistake at all really and you really must be wondering whether the Immigration Officers will notice or not, what a quandry!
Pat
i can send passport,s back if i wish to,or they will send a letter
we can take for conformation from the agent re the mistake.
Taking them up on the letter ,keeping passport,s safe with us
thanks

Ann, I think that that is your best bet, I wouldn't be surprised if it is not noticed anyhow. Have a great holiday!
Makes me wonder. If it's our responsibility to have a visa before booking and the tourist visa can only be issued for 6 months....then why do the tour operators put the holidays up for sale more than 12 months in advance ?? Goes without saying that you can't possible have the visa at that time so maybe they shouldn't be selling the holidays then. Just a thought.
Which was exactly my point either on this visa thread or the other one, I get confused
Glad you are sorted now,
Just phoned Yourtravelshop to check they received our passports. Sent them Monday, they got them Tuesday and will be taking them to the Consulate some time next week as they are restricted to numbers each day. The Consulate have then told them to allow 10 days from receipt before collecting them. It's 7 weeks until we go so fingers crossed we should have enough time.
Has anyone seen this?
Maybe they read my quote about having an online booking service for applications, it would not be that difficult to set up, you could use a basic booking system. I dont believe for one minute they took the postal strike into consideration. I am disgusted with their performance this year as are many others and their explanation is
We sent our visa off on the 5th (delayed because of P/Strike) they received them on the 9th and i phoned this morning to be told they are still in their shop(yourtravelshop) they will be submitted on monday to the high commission and will then take 10 working days to be returned.
I just hope there's nothing wrong with them it does'nt leave us much time before we go, i'm so mad thinking they would be back by now.We were told they are only accepting 30 a day we must have been at the back of the pile.

A couple of obversations:
We have discontinued the practice of receiving visa applications since July 2007 anticipating problems with Royal Mail. As a result of the recent postal strike, the Royal Mail has "significant" volume of mail lying undelivered.
So they had a crystal ball and could see the postal strike in early October coming months ago.......
Maybe they can tell me the lottery numbers for tomorrow......
As per 'General Information' printed on the reverse of the visa application form, applicants are required to finalise their travel arrangements only after ascertaining visa requirements and obtaining an appropriate visa. Unfortunately many applicants purchase tickets before obtaining a visa and then complain that they would miss their flights if they did not get a visa.
Who could ever envisage that it would take over 4 weeks to get a visa (based on the appointed agents who say they have this backlog)?
Still, it's a step in the right direction.

Some friends of ours went to Birmingham yesterday and said it was no different to any other time. Got there at 8.30 was given a ticket, and collected in the afternoon. Really don't know what to think now. I have sent to an agent already, but have not received visa's back yet.
