Oh...great shrieks of joy and happiness :pele :pele :pele ..my tickets have arrived :sun, but no thanks to R**e who sent them to the wrong address! Reasonably flash document wallet (I somehow expected details to be written on the back of a bus ticket), lots of info about the cruise but I haven't got time to read it all now but will curl up with suitable tanker of wine later. On my original confirmation I was in category 3 but now in Cat 4 ...does that constitute an upgrade? No outside cabin, but who cares...I'm goin cruisin :glynis
Keep at it hard and fast those who are still waiting - it's worth it when those tickets drop through the letterbox.

Juro - Not bad as you don't go until the 3rd of next month

It looks as if you have managed to get a bit of an upgrade but who cares - your on your way soon :bow

Great news on getting your tickets Juro. Yes, you have got a small upgrade to a higher deck! Wow, tickets 14 days from cruise date - that's excellent! I wonder if the people sailing on 29th August have got theirs yet?

To those still waiting for cruises, I am agreement with Craig, keep pushing! I honestly don't think sitting back waiting will get you anywhere!

Congratulations Juro!!

Don`t worry to much about the `upgrade` thing, when we compared notes on the Melody, they were pretty much the same cabins but just on a different deck............one more button on the lift if you don`t fancy the stairs!

Getting the docs. 2 weeks ahead is a bonus.....mine were less than a week and I was sweating blood!!

Started to think a bit more about the cruise fiasco with the express, maybe we should get in touch with watchdog, as others did last year, maybe that will get the ball rolling, well it will be a bit of publicity :)

Het, i've just emailed someone at the Express again :( as my last email went unanswered :? Hoping to get some response :|
I'll let you know what happens

If nothing comes will write to watchdog

The Mail On Sunday money section runs a consumer feature . How about getting in touch with them over this fiasco. I'm sure they would like to get one up on their rival and put the boot in!

Hi Juro, so pleased that it is now all falling into place for you :) Of course, we both know that you and I were meant to have gone to the Caribbean last November but hey, a cruise is a cruise and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.

Enjoy LA Mikey but keep on pressing for your cruise - we are all behind you.

Great news Juro :D :glynis Your holiday starts now!!

Maybe it's not such a good sign that the tickets have arrived early :?: :?

It means they are not so busy and the volume being dealt with has reduced.

The rest of you still waiting keep up the pressure! :argue

We can't have anyone involved in this fiasco sitting around twiddling their thumbs because they've not got enough work :!: :no

More bad news regarding MKM/Rise :-

http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/men/business/s/168/168789_mkm_axes_half_its_workforce.html

I like the bit about "negative press attention" . Of course the press are going to be negative. It was MKM who made such a pig's ear out of the whole enterprise. What did they expect, an award for being the best run business of the year?

Hi folks if MKM paid money to the DE in compensation should that not mean the DE could spend it on chartering a ship for all of us who have not yet had our cruise. It could leave from Southampton and they would then only have to pay for National Express coach tickets to get us to the ship. As they would save so much on flights and transfers we could have at least a 10 day cruise  and as we have waited so long shore excursions thrown in for good measure. Have a wonderful cruise Juro I am so glad you have not had to suffer the trauma of a long wait for your tickets. Carol R :wave

I forgot to add in my previous posting that I feel very sorry for the staff who have lost their jobs. As usual it is the "poor bloody infantry" who have to suffer for bad management.

:thanks everyone for your congrats and kind words. I do feel really, really lucky and privilaged to be one of the fortunate ones and can't imagine how frustrating it must be for the hundreds (thousands?) still waiting. I'll still be here after my cruise giving all possible support to those still waiting. That said I really think that it's time to start jumping up and down. DE must be breathing a sigh of relief that the spotlight hasn't been turned on them and no, I don't think that a letter telling everyone to be patient is any consolation after 12 months of this fiasco. Just think of all the profit they made on sales to those who genuinely thought there would be "a £10 cruise for every reader". I think that it was the way in which a lot of us began harrassing R**e in Jan/Feb this year that resulted in the majority of cruises being allocated and that all seemed to go in one big rush and then nothing. I know if I hadn't rung them -several times- I'd have ended up with the vouchers. So yes, start complaing loud and clear to anyone who will listen and :gluck

Sorry  I too should have been more sensitive about the poor people who lost their jobs, I don't expect they were even eligible to apply for a £10 cruise as they worked for MKM. Carol R

Congratulations on getting your tickets and in good time too. Probably just a week to wait for me then! And hopefully less for LegoSpice and anybody who may be sailing with her.

I am very sorry to hear about the job losses at MKM. I do hope the very helpful person who booked me onto the Opera is still employed.

We know from the article that Rise have settled with the Express - isn't it time then for the Express to settle with the rest of their customers?

Hi folks,

Have a great cruise juro. Can someone tell me where to e-mail the DE now? I'll drop them an e-mail and see what happens. This shouldn't be becessary, though, with an organisation like the DE. All those people who submitted the vouchers and complied with the rules and regulations of this offer should be treated with respect and a letter sent automatically to them by the DE to explain where things stand now. No-one should be expected to have to pressurise them to get things moving. Wonder what's happening behind the scenes there all the same?

Chartering a ship would be the most economic way of sorting this out once and for all. Southampton is a good idea.

Hi Wull

I should try the people at the Express who have been dealing with this right from the start. You can find contact numbers in the following thread:

The main contact being: emma.pearce@express.co.uk
