suzyL,

Welcome onboard :tup
I can confirm both; your flights are operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER. FCA's aircraft are configured 2-3-2 with 33" seat pitch in economy. FCA only have a long haul configured 767, each of their 6x aircraft are the same inside. For the best view, I would avoid anything behind about row 14 until about 25 onwards. These photo's were taken from 21G. Seats are pre-assigned the day before so you may not have any choice in the matter.

OMG does that mean when we arrive at the airport I will have no say in where we sit? even if we get there early?

suzyL,

I'm afraid not. Seating is assigned the day before and although it isn't absolute, check-in staff aren't supposed to alter things. By all means ask, but expect to be told seating can't be changed.

Hi
Its me again. I am a freak, terrified flyer and want to be sat by a window, when I questionned this yesterday and rang First Choice they said if you pre book even then you arent guaranteed a good/window seat just seats together!
How can I make sure I get a window seat and express my huge fear without appearing a complete nutcase! is there anyone who i can speak with!? we are even planning to arrive 4 hours pre flight to Male on 16th Oct just to get to check in first! will the staff at check in be bound by seats already allocated. I am sure in the past i have been able to request a window seat, your comments yesterday suggest all seats are already allocated pre flight day.
Hope someone can help me!

You can request anything- from window seat to balcony with sea view however there is no way to guarantee anything, sorry.

One of the reasons this is/was implemented is because the 2-3-2 seating arrangement on FC aircraft is very inflexibe and leads to a lot of people being split up - if they minimise all the "must sit there/here" and give no one any expectations of say window seats/aisle seats it reduces complaints and problems on board.

Not the ideal answer i'm afraid, you can ring the call centre and request and aisle/window etc... seat and they can put it on your booking- advise them you suffer from Vertigo(or other medical condition) or something and require a window seat that way you have more chance but it is not guaranteed.

I'd have thoguht a window seat would be the last thing you wanted if you were afraid of flying!

Having a window seat and being able to see what is going on outside can be a big help with a fear of flying. The body's senses work overtime when all you see is a static cabin, and your other sense organs, mainly the inner ears feel you are moving. That's pretty much what vertigo is, and often travel sickness. It is the imbalance of senses and quite often cause problems. For example, just after take off when the sound of the engines reduce. They haven't stopped or failed, just been reduced in power but your ears sensitivity makes it sound like they've stopped. Another common one is once the aircraft is in positive climb and the nose is dropped slightly from it's take off attitude, it feels like you've started to descend. You haven't, it's just the rate of climb has reduced but your body senses you are descending. By being able to see out of the window, you still have the visual reference and therefore for anyone with a fear of flying, unless they don't like heights, it's a good thing. Most people enjoy seeing the world pass beneath s well.

Very good advice both of the instances you give for take off have given me a slight fear of flying the one with the nose dipping was what sarted me off on one particular flight,

But still look forward to my hols as after first 5 mins from take off im fine

Yes the engine reduction always causes an increased heart-rate with me, even when I know exactly what is happening and why :)

Hi, don't suppose the in-flight movies for inbound in November are known yet are they?
What are the chances that on the 6th they won't have changed from Sep/Oct yet?
Thanks.

I will post them as soon as they are, I always do.

Unlikely they will still be floating around but not impossible, but if you actually think about it. All the movies shown on Thomson/First Choice aircraft are not unseen movies still in the cinema so you will have had chance to watch both Octobers and Novembers at some point, and what ever Novembers ends up being you could have seen all of those by chance and wish it was Octobers choice... don't get so worried over the movie change over. Also movies are carried over, so the Premier/chargable movies in October will show their faces again in November in the form of free movies.

Anyone on here know when FC will relase flights/hols for Winter 09 - thought they were normally on the web around this time of year - always have to book so far in advance for Xmas as we are a family of 7?

Thanks

Someone mentioned November - I seem to recall booking around that time last year.

We have booked our holiday through First choice to Sri Lanka on 3rd Dec o8 , and at the time of time of booking was on a first choice plane the flights are now showing a thomsonfly plane , we have booked the premium seats which having used before with first choice are excellent! does this mean we have the thomson premium upgrade as this does not have as good a spec as first choice ? :que

and does anyone know the film choices for the journey there and back please???

Thanks Shanti

Hi

Similar to last post. We booked with FC to fly to Punta Cana on 30th April 2009. Confirmation came through and the original FC flight number has been changed to a thompson flight number. Thats not a problem, I know they have merged, but can someone tell me if the plane will be a thompson or First choice one?

Also, if you wish to upgrade to premium, do you go through first choice or thompson??

Sorry if this has been discussed before
