There are plenty of places to eat in Tivoli World (I can remember about 6 off the top of my head), but they weren't all open when we got there at 4:30 - they probably open later on. Quite a bit of variety but all kinds of fast food rather than fancy sit down restaraunts (except for a large Chinese place).

Towels - best bet is to get clean ones before going up to your room the night before, then you will have them for first thing in the morning.

Weather was pretty good - high 80's, low 90's, a bit breezy some days but no rain.

Cheese board - every night there were 3 types of cheese and biscuits available as part of the dessert range (not in great quantity), but once a week they pushed the boat out and did an end table with about 5 different types of cheese and a different biscuit.

Mexican & Italian - good call!

We ate at Tivoli world. Called London something, sorry i cant remember. Sit down meal, hubby had lasagne, they did sausage and mash etc.All cooked fresh so you have to wait a little while for it. I changed our towels in a morning when she arrived. They are very strict on no inflatables in the pool, but they ARE allowed in the baby pool, which is a good size. karen

What time and from where do you fly on sunday?? we go sunday from manchester... 1500hrs flight ( i thnk) not looking forward to the drive down from scotland,,, never do!! but it will be worth it im sure... is everybody still agreed on long trousers (for the gents!!) for evening meals??

Some rooms have kettles e-mail hotel and request one.
All rooms have hairdryers but not very good I took my own.
No irons in room however there is a laundry room at level minus 2 they have a few down there.

We fly from Gatwick at 16.00 hrs so shouldn't be far behind you (hopefully) I think it is long trousers but will probably have to wait and see when we get there and go with flow as they say.

Re: Long trousers. The majority of people did change into long trousers at night, but many wore 3/4 length trousers or tailored shorts. We never saw anyone refused entry to the restaraunt, regardless of the length of the trouser.

Sorry, couldn't find an email adress for the hotel. As for kettles, both our rooms had one already - they're not big or quick to boil but hey, they work. However, if there's not one in the room I'm sure reception will supply one.

With regard to wearing long trousers, we saw a woman with a bikini ! on still with a see trough type lace sarong on during dinner in the evening & nodbody said anything, i think she had just come in from the pool as it was 6.30pm . I wore long shorts without any problems.

Must start packing and buying all the bits and bobs that I allways forget about until the last minute as its only 32Hrs until we set off to the airport. I am working the night shift and am finding it hard to think about anything other than going on holiday. I am going there with an open mind and not letting any of the past posts good or bad cloud my vision. For all the people that have said it is not 4* standard what are they comparing it to. I thought that the stars indicated the level / number of facilities available at the hotel rather than the level of service provided. Will leave a report when I return, hopefully a good one.

Well, personally I was comparing HV to other Spanish 4* hotels I've stayed at (most recently Flamingo Oasis, Benidorm in 2003). As for facilities vs. service, I don't think you can separate them that eaily - there's no point in having great facilities if the service doesn't match (eg having 3/4 bars but not being able to get a drink due to lack of staff, or a big restaraunt but poor food, or a kid's club but disinterested reps etc). Not that all that necessarily applies to the HV, just that service makes up a good part of the 4* experience in my view.

I understand what your saying, the facilities are there, but are room was not as clean as it could have been, the public toilets were grubby etc. I would have expected it to have been much cleaner. We are off to Kos next year with first choice and they have just downgraded the hotel from a 4* to a 3*plus.Maybe the HV will be too? karen

Does anyone have a name of a company they used or did you just book it through FC? I would ideally like it to be dropped off at the Hotel and to be picked up from there too...am i asking the impossible?

The reason for this is, i thought i would make our own way to Gibralter for the day rather than go on the FC trip.... any thoughts?

We were in Fuengirola a few years back and hired a car for a few days. I think we paid about 130 euro for a medium sized car with air con for the 3 days. We did the Gibraltar trip which was lovely. We paid a few extra bob and used the toll roads which was really great because there are some serious traffic jams on the roads in July and August. I know the trip is a lot faster now becasue the Estepona by pass is open. We also drove up into the mountains and visited Ronda which was really fab and well worth a visit. Really Spanish with a Bull Ring and great cliff top views. Much preferred Ronda to Gib. If you meet the Spanish Authorities on a bad day the wait to cross the border can be long. We had to wait about an hour to get in. Have a great trip.
