our company deal with tailmade holidays but we always sent out invoices to show the break down off cost so u can see exactly what you are paying for

it would be a good idea to check availabilty on the med hotels web site yourself so you can pick an alternative hotel, it shows all availability when you enter the dates and destination you want

so on monday you tell them you want a break down in cost, which you have the right to have, and you choose which hotel u want or demand a refund, like i said earlier travel agents lose money if you cancel, and they dont like doing unnessisary work if they bully you into having something you dont want

stand your ground be firm, and tell them your going to holiday watchdog 99% off the time you will win

From what we can see, Instant Holidays are the 'organiser' of this holiday for you, as they are tailor making it.

Off the shelf and tailor made packages are both covered by the The Package Travel, Package Holiday and Package Tours Regulations 1992, so long as all the parts are put together by the organiser before the contract is made.

However, to clarify the matter completely, contact Ros Fernihough, Solicitor, on Monday on the following number 01922 621114 before ringing Instant Holidays. Her advice is free.

Let us know how you get on.

hi

i really appreciate all your help and ideas, ive got the details infront of me and some letters are from instant holidays and confirmation invoice is from future travel so i assume they are the same co, yes they tailor made the package, flights, transfers and hotel for me, all the invoice says apart from destination hotel details etc is a price per person for the total no break down at all, so not happy about this, i am right by thinking i might be able to possibly choose my own hotel but have to stick to the flights, i think i will ring ros on monday too, what a nightmare

forgot to say yes fiona that is the same address as i have on my invoice, although the name is future travel, here is link to their website

generally if the accom they offer you is not suitable you canpick something else you want that is available, but bear in mind you could have to pay more towards a different hotel as all hotels vary in price evan if it is still a 5 star
but you will not have to amendment fees as this is not your falt for amending the holiday

good luck

im not prepared to pay any more than i have as it was booked 5 mths ago looks like prices are a bit lower now than what i paid, but as it was booked to sort my wedding out and we could only go around easter thought it was best to book when we did, didnt expect change of flight company, change of flight time from a nice time to early hours of the morning and now change of hotel, what a joke !! they shouldnt be allowed to get away with all these changes, i would never have booked this holiday if the flight time had been the time it is now, doesnt seem fair, all these problems always seem to happen to me too grrrr !!!! i will try and be firm on monday but not sure it will get me anywhere except a headache lol

ive just looked on med hotels they have 1 4 star thats booked and 1 5 star but that seems very cheap and im sure we paid more than what thats stating judging by the total price of our holiday so if i went for that could i ask for a refund of the difference or would i lose out

Hi ellie_meg

When making a purchase your contract is with the supplier, and not the manufacturer, i.e. your contract is with teletex and not Med Hotels.

Not to sure about your position, and I don't want to disappoint you, but you need to bear in mind, that although the booking conditions on Med Hotels may appear to be in your favour, these booking conditions are for customer's who book direct with Med Hotels, as you booked through a 3rd party, i.e. teletex I'm not sure where you stand.

Good Luck

it dosent matter who you book through you are still travelling with med hotels their booking conditions do apply, same as if you were travelling with thomson or airtours even if you book through a 3rd party its still the tour operators booking conditions,
ive been in travel for 9 years, we dont have booking conditions other than you pay a deposit to book and balance due 12 weeks before travel

Hi

I see from your thread that you have been given a lot of good advice but there is something i think you should be aware of.
Your are entilted to see any beakdown of cost that the travel agent has, this can not be hidden from you. Also as far as the change of accom if you pick a alternatve hotel with med hotels they can request a room for you even if the room shows as not available on the site as long s they have a contract with this hotel. If they do offer a full refund of the hotel there are other companis they can try to get maybe even the origional hotel or another that you like. Med hotels may have lost there contract with this hotel but it doesnt mean all companies have. It really depends on the reason they have changed it. Do you know the reason?
But on the flipside they are right in what they saying that as long as the tour operator offer the same standard or higher of accom they are keeping within the booking conditiond so in fact not doing anything wrong. Except causing much personal distrss and worry for you. My personal opioion is that your travel agent is not doing enough to help you, after all that is there job to make the travel arrangments not yours.
good luck, let us know how you get on :)

Well done courney-jade, i am 26 and have woked in travel since i was 15 as well. I have been a travel agent, a manager and now i work for first choice origionally in the uk and now overseas. Its great when you know what you want and do everything to get it. I admire that in the poeple that do. Congratulations on the baby, i agree when you worked and acheived for as long s we have you, you stop and look at whats important in life and by then when you have acheived what you have then it doesnt seem as importnt anymore.
Ihave seen both sides of the table in travel and now i do a lot of customer service and i always feel that to solve the customers grievance is more satisfying then selling the holiday origionally but thats just me.
sorry bit of topic but i say what i think...
