Hi, we went to the Hermes last year, and found it to be great. The staff are fab, but if you are bed and breakfast, the food isn't up to much. You can buy other things, my kids had chocolate doughnuts every morning. The pool is quite large ( a bit chilly at first) and there are plenty sun loungers and umbrellas. We found it quite hot through the day but you may need a cardi or wrap for evening. The big minus (for some people) with the Hermes is its location, its on the side of a hill and can be a trek down to the beach and tavernas. Its also a trek up to the old town but definitely worth it, visit the baker if you can, hes ancient but does fab cakes. Brill views too. Some people found Kefalos a little quiet, it did seem a bit of a ghost town, but it means its quite peaceful and friendly.
We found that the majority of resturaunts catered for kids but they all have the menus outside so you can choose where you want to eat. Its not too expensive to eat either, we budgeted for spending less than 100 euros per day on a family of 4 and sometimes it was a lot less.
Hope you enjoy it.
thankyou both for your wonderful replies about the hotel and kos.
Suiting a family with children..!
http://www.justkos.co.uk this website will tell you everything you need to know about the Island and gives ratings out of ten. I highly recommend the day trip to Turkey for the Tuesday Market in Bodrum, we used the Maria Star, it only takes 45 mins at a total cost per adult of 24 Euros return, sorry but I can't help you with the childrens Fare.

Hi, I tried to pm you but according to HT, you don't exist !! Anyway, if you go on Les
ok cheers for that help..this site seems very good!
We took the trip to nissyros last year from kos and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its a visit to a nearby island , its villages and volcano. My kids thought it was great (apart from the sulphur smell)
As for the shopping trip to Bodrum, consider going on the Flying Dolphin rather than a "normal" boat - much quicker and much much more fun. Do it before they are finally withdrawn and consigned to history. Do not miss touring the castle when over there - one of the more interesting sites in Bodrum.
I would recommend that you do not book these with your resort rep, but do it direct with the boats in Kos harbour a couple of days in advance - much cheaper and more choice. Just walk along the harbour of an evening and chat to the crews.
Cheers,
Jet
Me, my husband and 2 children have been to the Mythos apartment 2 years ago and found them brilliant having had a 2 bedroom apartment.
We are returning in September as 5 adults and been told we will be have one of the new 5 bed apartments. Please can anyone tell me have they been to the Mythos recently and had a 5 bed apartment please can they let me know what they are like ie: the layout of the beds and where they are and anything else they can or any changes that have been made in the last 2 years.
Thanks in advance Lynne & Paul.
I would like to do that trip but how would we get from Kefalos to the harbour in time for trip. I have been told there are no taxis in Kefalos and only five buses a day. We like to book trips locally but normally we can get easy access to taxis.
most of the local toure companies arrange coach pick ups
the trip to nisyross goes from kefalos harbour and you can book it locally you don't have to book through your travel company,I think it goes twice a week from kefalos.all of the trips like turkey and greek night you can book in kefalos and the companies have their own buses to take you so you don't need taxis's.
Thanks for that I thought the boat left from Kos town harbour
No defo from the harbour in Kefalos - or at least that is where we picked it up for the trip about five years back. Most of the tour places in resort do the trip so you should not have any trouble............hiya Ritz how's the season so far? See you Sept as usual
There are boats from both Kos town and Kefalos to Nissyros. The flying dolphin service to Borum only goes from Kos town. I also believe there to be a boat to Nissyros from Kardamena during the summer season, but don't quote me on that!
Want to day trip from Kos to Bodrum just wondered if anybody knows what day the markets on for cheap snide designer gear

Hi scalder, The flying dolphin is a Hydrofoil and travels a lot faster than a traditional boat even though it is getting a bit long in the tooth with age !!!! We went to Bodrum by the Maria Star, it took 45 mins. By Hydrofoil it takes 20 mins.
We been to Kos loads of times it's fab! My kids especially like getting a quad bike and driving around which is always fun! Also we visited Zia the mountain place which is beautiful place! We been all over Kos Kardemena is lovely! We decided to try somehwhere different this year and we are travelling to Turkey next Tuesday! Should be good fun
help please
Looking to book independently for a week in Kefalos & am looking for a hotel close to Kefalos windsurfing (airport end of the resort). The Ionikos looks OK but reviews on it are scarce. Does anyone know of this hotel & where exactly it is in the resort?
