Oscarben,
Mozzies leave all my family alone, but they love me (grr!)
We always use the plug ins and *touch wood* they seem to work!
(It's far too stuffy/hot to leave windows etc shut.)
But, we've never been to Kenya so I don't know if they would work there.
They might do. I would take them and try them.
Digby,
I eat loads of garlic anyway - especially when abroad - and take Vitamin B compound tablets
(starting 2 weeks before we go away) which are supposed to put the little blighters off - they
don't work for me - athough I know many people who swear by them.
I found that Autan worked quite well, (got just a few bites) but then last year in my "wisdom"
I picked up a cheaper version.
Never again - I was bitten alive!
So, I am now armed and ready for this years hols with Avon's SSS (green top) and my Autan,
together with our loyal plug ins for the living room and bedroom.
One tip I have picked up from others on the web is stuff called Mosquito Milk.
Reading about it from other people, it seems to have worked where everything else has failed.
Hope these tips are of some help.
I have never heard of Mosquito Milk, where do you buy it from , obviously it must be some kind of
skin lotion , does it have a perfume . I'm interested in buying this for both my daughter and my hubby as they seem to get bitten most. I always find the SSS works for me .
Thanks
Lynne.
I haven't used it myself, it's just been recommended to me.
I thought it would be a form of lotion too, but it looks like a roll-on
I don't know if you can buy it over the counter, but you can buy it on the net from
chemist direct (says lowest prices guaranteed)
express chemist
academy health
to name a few.
Hope this helps
thanks for that , i will have a look around
Hi, Milly-Molly. Must try the mosquito milk since I've tried everything else. Last year after taking garlic capsules for months and using SSS, I got 3 bites which turned bright red and the red spread all the way up from my ankle to my knee. What itch! I had to get a jag from the doctor plus cream and tablets which cost me in excess of £100. It's an expensive business for me as no one else in our family gets bitten. Thanks for that suggestion.
Anyone have a link to where I can get this Mosquito Milk from. Avon SSS doesn't work for me. For those it does work for though it can be bought in bulk on ebay for cheap money.
plenty of choice on internet just looked at one called saferholidays £6.49 for roll on hope this helps
Ta, I'll try anything, I still have a bite on my arm from May 2007 which refuses to heal!!
remember to start taking garlic capsules 3 to 4 weeks before your holiday
I've never heard of that, it's 4 weeks away now! Will I get them from a chemist?
yes or a supermarket. Remember to get the odor free ones .I used to get scores of bites no matter what I did. I tried the capsules and yes I do still get an odd bite but its almost a miracle cure for me Before that I did notice that by the time I got to my second week the bites eased off to almost nothing and at the time I went to Greece every year so had eaten a lot of garlic by then.
This may be a very stupid question but do mossies live all year round? We are hoping to go to the Canaries for the month of January and just wondered if I would escape the awful mossie reaction I have to suffer in the summer months. Never been abroad before in winter so a bit clueless about things
Sorry, moderators. This was meant for the mossie forum. Sorry.
but hope this is of some help...

Garlic capsules have never worked for me
I have heard that marmite is supposed to be good , they dont like it for some reason
i used the wrist bands in corfu and found them to be a great help
Haven't heard of them before ...I'll keep an eye out for them in Adsa.
but as she is 24 and her partner 28 i didn't think they would wear them , they look like the charity bands that you can wear, so maybe i should have got them
