Hi Rosie, you are getting really hooked on Turkey even before going this year. You will be pleased with the barut lara I am sure of that and will perhaps prefer it in summer to the Delphin because there will be less children at the barut. The barut is the number one hotel in Antalya region with the german site and gets 97% satisfaction ratings
The delphin is number one on tripadvisor so you cannot go wrong with either!!

Have you noticed that the Delphin has gone off sale with Firstchoice for next summer, I have been checking for the last week and no dates are showing up all season, Thomas cook was the same but now they are selling the hotlel again. I just recently read on trip advisor that a hotel will be built at the side of it, but when I sent a PM to the person to ask about it I had no reply!
I will try to find out when we go to Lara in 4 weeks and 4 days--Whose counting??
I am not to worried because they cannot build during the summer season from May to november and the Delphin had been putting a road at the side of the hotel and it will be set back from the beach. some rooms may not have a great view though.
I think you will have a great time at your hotel this summer it has had some great reviews, not long now have a great time and let us know what you think of Turkey!!

I had a look on holidaycheck and did not see anything about over booking, the tour operators will have a set number of rooms and a contract with the hotel so I would be surprised if it happened with our tour operators. I bet it is more wth the independant travellers, they would be sued if it happened here.

I am wishing my life away from one holiday to the next! The Xanadu website has 3 live web cams. I keep watching people in the swimming pools when it is pouring down with rain here.

I need some sunshine I am really pleased that i decided on the Delphin Palace for next summer. I can be tipped upside down at the theme parks at Easter in California. Then two weeks relaxing with a good book in the sun in August -Blissss

contacted First Choice and they have given their assurance that they have not heard about any "overbooking issues" at the Delphin Palace, and have assured me that no way would they let the hotel move any of their customers!!

Hi. I've recently returned from Lykia World which is absolutely fabulous but the prices for next year are a little on the steep side. I've been wondering where else and the Delphin Palace was a favourite but last week wasn't beeing offered. However I've now found it back on at Thomas Cook so it's back in the running.

I know the reviews are great, but can anyone who's been tell me a bit more about activities for kids, mine will be 11, 8 and 6 year old twins. At Lykia the eldest loved the variety of activities in the kids clubs which included jetskis, banana boats, judo, rock climbing, etc, anything like this here? And also what is the evening entertainment like, are there nightly shows as they do enjoy those.

Phoned FC again today and they are NOW saying that they ARE having overbooking issues at the DP!!!!!

I feel let down by this and utterly deflated.

It is just not right that they can do this, we are paying close to £5000
for this holiday, it is a premier hotel and I feel like we are being treated
totally and utterly disgracefully.

I am waiting for a return call from FC as to the situation and will inform all as soon as they contact me.

I have just contacted FC once again and they are now saying that we are not being moved, but it sounds like that some of the FC customers are.

Somehow I just do not trust them and I will not be happy until I arrive and I am ensconced in my room!!

When do you go?? Have you not thought to ask them to put this in writing for you?? I would not trust someones word over the phone, you will have no proof. Look what happened with those at the Titanic, yes they let them know but with little time to do anything but accept a move to another hotel. When you book it is that hotel and not another that you want to be at!
I have first hand knowledge about the deceit and lies told by them so I would ask for it in writing.

Just a thought about the overbooking issue though, the new Lykia world
was due to open in July in Antalya and that is now been put on ice until
September even though the so called "Travel Specialists" (Agents) have been taking bookings for this property and not informing people of the non opening.

If we do get moved I have already got a list ready of my prefered options

1. Barut Lara
2. Cornelia Deluxe

and £5000 compensation (Some Hope)!!!! LOL

Fingers crossed you don't get moved but if you do , can recommend the Cornelia, we stayed there in September 2005 and had a fab holiday, obviously it's in Belek, so about 20 mins drive away from Lara hotels. if it happens to me think i will ask to go to the Royal Wings.

Maybe limited to another of the FC hotels, I know that the Cornelia is in their brochure and on their web.

With two kids in tow if we do get moved it will not be easy, but hey ho after the first and initial shock of the situation, I guess the old British spirit of making the best job out of a bad situation kicks in and don't let the
ba*****ds grind you down ethos.

See if you can get a more expensive holiday out of them for no extra cost. Im sure FC do the Xanadu in Belek. We are off there soon and it is getting good reviews on trip advisor.

I have booked the Delphin Palace for next year as it came out about £400. per adult cheaper than the Xanadu. They both look fab though.

I have got everything crossed that it will be okay when we get there.

I suppose that if it was not for the HT website and the passing of information (good or bad) there would be still even more people blindly booking holidays and at times being taken for being fools.

A bit of information can sometimes be dangerous but it is better than none at all.

Just two sleeps left now, butterflies have started to kick in!!

Mrs will not start packing until tonight, does my brains in, I like to start packing at least a week before.

Staying overnight Thurs at the Radisson SAS at Manchester airport, only taking one piece of hand luggage on board (the bag with the passports and money)!! Do not want to take anything else, just want to sail through security and get to the bar "a Bud and brandy chaser please" just to settle the nerves of course.

I can confirm Wendywu's temperatures.40C in the shade and 55c in the Sun.To hot for me had to go for a beer.

Overbooking at Delphin Palace.Yes it's true.We had some Brits here who had been put in a small hotel near to my house and they should have been in DP.Whats more, all inclusive finishes at 10- 30 ! Not to good.
