Onur Air ..

Sorry but this is just journo babble and total drivell!!!....The aircraft had a cabin pressurisation problem and the crew descended fast but controlled to below 10,000ft especially since the oxygen masks had dropped ( or full rubber jungle as its known)...and diverted to nearest available which was Istanbul. No drama and little danger handled well by a competent flight crew :D . As onur Air dont usually operate into Istanbul they probably didnt have any ground staff to immediately call on and as usual in these circs pax have to be patient.

I noticed that at the end of this sensationalist sob story the hoary old chestnut was dragged out........." They are seeking advice re compensation"....How unusual   .......chavs.

For those flying and a bit nervous, dont be..this proves that your average Airline crew are well trained and capable. have confidence in them and a great holiday to you all..

Sorry but have to diasagree I have also read the posting re the Onur air flight making an emergency landing in Istanbul and must admit definately has put me off booking with them - only flown with them once and although no problems on the flight felt that safety procedures left a bit to be desired. On checking further re this airline have discovered there has been at least 7 recorded incidents since last July including a engine failure and a pilot refusing to fly the plane. May be wrong but seems to be quite a high instance of problems and makes me question the maintenance of the aircraft. Will definately be booking with a British carrier in the future would rather pay a little more and feel more confident.

samurd, I have used Onur Air on 7 occasions and have never had one problem with them, safety procedures in all 7 flights were no different to any other Airline I have flown with, Eg normal video of the saftey procedures onboard, I also know that they employ far more staff actually on the Aircraft than any other Uk Airline that flies to Turkey, Staff I agree are not alway's perfect in the understanding of English but if there is a problem with this they then ask another member of staff to assist them, Remember this is a Turkish company not British, Do you think a Turkish citizen flying to the Uk with a British carrier would be able to talk to staff in Turkish and have a question or two answered I think not.
And remember one thing here also, When these planes arrive on British soil they are checked by British staff for the onward Journey, And in Turkey by Turkish staff, Not for one moment if there was a problem with an Aircraft would they allow it to leave the Airport.

Hi rwb - You have missed the point of my posting - I wasn't disputing the crew's ability to understand English - this was not an issue - the crew on the flight were more than helpful. My point was that that there was no safety demonstration at all whether it be in Turkish or English - not even on the video. Also the fact that there have been 6 or seven recorded incidents - including the airline being banned from landing in a few countries 2 or 3 years ago does make you question their health and safey procedure and the maintenance of the aircraft. At the end of the day you pay your money and make your choice.

I was put of Onur Air when I read Dazbos post about them. They are the only airline at the moment that has a flight out of my local airport on the day I want to travel but after hearing about this incident I am now considering travelling to another airport.

I was a passenger on the nightmare flight from Dalaman to Birmingham and have the say this has been the most terrifying nightmare of my life. The plane definately had some sort of engine problems - hardly any of the oxygen masks worked. The stewards had no idea of how to deal with an emgerancy and at one point they were crying and praying leaving passengers to deal with a woman that was having a panic attack. I have to say that if you value your life do not fly with ONUR. We were treated no better than stray dogs!

Hi - 20 kilos but in my experience - please yourself - bags weighing 29kgs were not questioned.

You may get away with that on the outbound flight but it's very different inbound from Dalaman. All cases are weighed and you are charged 5 or 6 pounds per kilo overweight.

Hi i am flying to bodrum with onur air on friday 21st sep.ohy1692
Just got a few concerns about safety of onur, can anyone put my mind at rest???????????

I think that the only person who can put your mind at rest is yourself.

If there is a fleet of planes allowed to fly then I should imagine that someone has deemed them safe.

A plane crashed in Thailand the other day but I reckon since then there has been a few thousand car crashes in the UK

We have just returned from icmeler with Onur and like you we were a bit worried after hearing some reports.
The aircraft was in good condition and really clean. Landings at both ends were smooth and the flight itself was calm and smooth.
Food is a bit of a let down and the non entertainment is dissapointing but the safety was not a problem at all.
I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

next year we will be paying extra just to not fly with this company

noisy , rattly planes , rude staff throwing dinner at you , and smiling only when you leave the plane

no thanks

dannyj,
I can only assume that the aircraft they use from Luton are different to the ones ex Manchester, ditto the crew.
the only critisiscm I could make is that the emergency proceedure demonstration is rushed and garbled.

Never had a problem myself and next year no meals to throw at you

I will add...........Just spotted the post from danny in another section and it seems you went with goldtrail.

You slated all about them and if that is so then ok but the Onur air flights are chartered by different holiday companies and when I have booked it is H4U I go with and I reckon there is a big difference.

Maybe they think goldtrail customers don't care about service, I don't know
