Our reception is in Romanticas which is also not far from there and just a stones throw from our appartment. My dress is in the bridal shop I had my 1st fitting recently and have to have a few small alterations. We need to get men and my bridesmaid sorted yet.
I love these websites getting loads of info and chatting weddings to other brides.
Have you been to Cyprus before this is my 1st holiday abroad , what a 1st holiday to have
i took my bridesmaids shopping and they found there dresses in debenhams! i was expecting them to like something in one of the really expensive shops!
my partner worked as a holiday rep in falaraki before i met him so he really knows the place! but we went in may 2006 and were going again in 7 weeks time, as his best friend is getting married at the aphrodite hills and he is best man!but at least it means we can go out and get our last little bits done in person! were just starting to look at honeymoons but i want to go to the carribean for that i think but it wont be able to be till next year as he has run out of holiday from work!
have you had to sort all your documents out yet?
I have always wanted to get married outside, and they have said there will be a gazebo available, so I am quite happy with that(although i would like to see some pictures). As far as my reception i dont want anything to formal. As I have two young children sitting down and having a 3 course meal etc is to stressful for me, so the only other option i thought was a buffet of some sort. But like you said they just cant seem to give you much information. I have already paid, so I will wait to hear their reply and take it from there. Have you decided where you are having your reception? how many of you are going? Have you got most things sorted?
I have two children myself 5 & 8 we are going to be given a tour of venues when we get over there for our reception and i only have my flowers to choose on arrival.
sorry for not replying sooner.
I had looked at a few dresses in Debenhams (online)but our nearest store is in 85 miles away and my Bridesmaid lives further away . Which dresses did yours get?
Were you pleased with your dress when it came in , I was delighted with mine as I had not seen it before in the colour I ordered .
You are so lucky to have been and be going out to Paphos. Anyone I have spoken to falls in love with it and seems to return again and again.
I see you are using Cyprus Dream Weddings how have you found them ? We are using Ido weddings. They have been great , will you get your photographer , flowers etc from them ?
We have all our paperwork sorted now just waiting for our Ministry Letters of Freedom to come back we are both Irish Passport holders. We had to attend a pre-marriage preparation class and have a pre-nuptual enquiry with our local priest so that has all been sent off to the priest in Cyprus. Do you have any of your paperwork sorted yet ?
Hi Kristina thought i would let you know im getting married with i do weddings been speaking to Igor alot how about you. When do you get married our date is 5th Aug 08 are you using the Town Hall in paphos.
it is me who is using Ido . We have Heather as our planner as Igor was not available for our dates. We are having a civil ceremony in Yeroskipoui on 25th June and an RC ceremony in St Pauls PIllar 27th June. They are great at Ido always answers emails imediatley and have been very helpful.
My neighbours got married last year with I Do and said they were fantastic. I have also seen there wedding photos and they are brilliant thats why i decided to go for them.
i cannot wait to go in 8 weeks we havent been on a proper holiday since may 2006 which was in limmasol, we bought or house last year so didnt really have the time or money to go then!
i actualy hated my wedding dress when i saw it on the hanger, i chose 4 others to try on and my mum was determined for me to try this dress on so i gave in and couldnt believe how amazing it was! way over budget just my mothers style but in the end i had to have it! mines actualy like a mocha colour as im quite fair and felt a bit washed out in the bright white dresses! i was also worried as i catch the sun very easily and i have seen from photos that white dresses really show that up! my bridesmaids are in a really dark red they are short dresses as they didnt really fancey any of the long ones. i have got 3 my sister, his sister, my cousin and my other cousins little boy as a page boy!were surronded by debanhams! but i actualy went to lakeside in essex for there dresses but were from surrey.
yeah cyprus dream weddings have been great! we havent been the easiest to deal with! we changed our minds about venues a the begining and even once we had booked paphos town hall she still changed it for us so we could have Yeroskipoui. shes also sent me photos of wedding cakes, flowers and bouquets so i can get an idea about what i want, were also meeting her in may to discuss the final bits aswell. we did a package with them and added things on like transport for our guests and an extra car for my bridesmaids.
my manager got married in cyprus last year so he has given us a copy of the letter that he used which we have to get signed by a solicitor but that should b easy as i deal with solicitors at work and about 4 of them said they will do it for us! our birth certificates are at our parents houses so we need to get them!
have you got lots of bridesmaids???
im using cyprus dream weddings, . we also enquired with i think its medway weddings, they were a nightmare they sent us so much stuff through the post and never stopped ringing even when we told them we had already booked!
i get married on the 18th September
we were originaly using paphos town hall, we really liked the marbled floor room but they also had another room that was quite small with terrible decor and the town hall couldnt garentee us the nicer room so we changed venues as it just wasnt what i wanted! are you getting married in paphos town hall?
im really glad we changed now,i obviously didnt research enough at the begining and didnt realise that there was town halls where you could get married outdoors and thats really what we wanted to do!
are you going to wear your wedding dress to Yeroskipoui or saving it for the ceremony when everyone is there???
I'm getting married in Limassol in June. I have to wait on the Ministry Freedom papers as well, the mebassy told me you should get the certificate 6 weeks prior to date of marriage - talk about a risk - it's only april and its panic stations all round about these papers.
Are you all organised then?
I'm still hunting around for reception venues, florists, cake maker - you name - i ain't got it booked!
Talk about Unorganised!
my dress is actually a bridesmaid dress and when I tried it on in the shop it was black . I chose dark ivory as I don't think white suits my skin tone and was glad I did as the colour looks good and makes my skin quite sallow looking. Hopfully I will have a nice tan for my wedding day .
I only have 1 bridesmaid and I think we have sorted a dress at last it is a lovely shade of coral. My junior is wearing an ivory dress with glod embroidered flowers , it is from Next. My page boy ( our 3 yr old ) has a gold waistcoat. I have a dress from M&S that I am wearing for my civil ceremony it was an after christmas sale bargain. Not sure how I am going to get the dresses out yet. Who are you flying with , can you takre your dress on as hand luggage. We are with Thomas Cook and thier hand luggage measurments seem smaller than everyone elses.
am
I know what you mean about the panicking , our papers have been sent back for what seems like ages. Do you think they hold onto them until 6 weeks before and then send them out I was considering phoning Dublin to see. Are you using a planner in Cyprus or organising everything yourselves?
Do you have many guests coming out with you ?
am
I rang them after I had posted them down and was told I would receive the Certs 6 wks before the date of marriage. I have diarised it for 7 weeks prior to ring them and make sure all is in order since we leave here a week before the wedding.
We had the wedding booked with Elite weddings but had to cancel since we found out that we were to have baby no 2. Elite weddings then weren't able to cover Limassol but since it was previously booked with them the girl dealing with it told me that she would book the civil and church ceremony and meet us and take us to make the marriage application but that would be all she could do, which is fine since i made a whole song and dance about wanting to be as involved as possible (Do I regret that decision now??!!)
We have about 26 people coming just immediate family - we wanted it as low key as possible. How about you? You seem a lot more organised than me - i don't know if finding this site is such a good thing - beginning to realise how unorganised i really am - will have tio Shake myself and get a move on!
have you sorted your hen night? are you having it in cyprus??
are you having anything once your married and back in england???
think I will do like yourself and phone them in about 2 weeks time tgo check on the papers. It is good that the lady is going to book your ceremony for you. What are you going to do about everything else ? Do you ever go onto You and Your Wedding website there is loads of information on there about venues, photographers etc.
We have 32 coming with us , all family also . Most of them are on h2b's side there are 10 children of various ages. We have a 3 year old who is doing page boy for us. I have one bridesmaid and 1 junior bridesmaid .I think my bm is going to wear a coral dress but page boy has a gold waistcoat and junior is in ivory dress with gold embroidered flowers. H2b and best man will either be wearing gold waistcoat and cravat or gold tie and jackets. Do you think this will be alright I am at my wits end with looking at colours and just don't know anymore what goes and what doesn't.
not sure how I will get my dress out as we fly with Thomas Cook and their measurments seem smaller than anyone elses.
I had a meal booked for 3 weeks ago a sort of hen night but was sick all weekend and had to cancel. Not sure if we will book anything again I'm really not that bothered. What are you doing for yours ?
im having my hen do over august bank holiday weekend, so on the friday night were going out for a meal, thats more for the mums and aunties and nan, then the saturday night were doing a party bus to london and the sunday my sister is having a massive bbq for everyone! i think on the saturday there is going to be about 30 of us! im the first one of my friends to get married so everyone is all excited!
i really wish we were getting married in may but my partners best friend beat us to it so we had to go with september!
have you done your solicitor letters? how much did they cost because my partner is determined that it is expensive!
Your colours sound great, very wedding in the sun! I'm only having one bridesmaid, best man and my son is going to be page boy for me also! We are currently looking at suits etc and trying to convince h2b to go for waistcoat instead of Jacket - we get married at 2pm and the heat will be very intense so with any luck he will just do as he is told!
Haven't even heard of that website so i'll get a wee nosy at it tonight - cheers for the tip
