Hi, I'm a little bit worried, there are a few of us going to mexico next year, Playa del carman area but been looking at the weather this year for the time that we will be going next year (27th may-11th June 09) and there has been alot of rain showing on the forcast.
For any one that has been at this time, is it a nice time to go?
Is it hot?
How wet is it?
How ofter did it rain?
Is it worth chooseing a differant time of year to go?
As much help/advise as poss would be sooooo appreciated.
Thanks x
It's hurricane season in the caribbean region from May until October so the weather can be variable. May and June average 1-3" of rain with temperatures in the 90's. You should be ok but bear in mind it's early in the hurrican season so anything can happen. I always have my caribbean holiday in March as it's generally settled and not too hot/humid. The marine life is just springing in to action as well

Whats the weather usually like late October to early November in and around Puerto Plata in the Dom Rep?
Have a look at this site- about half way down the page see History and Almanac- it gives a history of the weather at whatever time of year you are interested in:-
I'm travelling to Cuba (Guardalavaca) on July 23rd, but i'm really quite worried as it seems to do nothing but rain in July/August-am I going to be stuck in my hotel room for the whole 2 weeks? Help!
can any one please tell me what weather like in cub in october im going to guardalavaca
Tropical storm Fay due to hit Eastern Cuba today. So far it has killed 6 people in Dom Rep. I'm heading out on 5th September to Varadero and hope everything is cleared up by then. My main worry though is for the people there having to live through it. Hopefully it won't turn into a full force hurricane if it does make landfall.
Hi there , thinking about next year's holiday in July, which island is the driest at that tiem of year? , many thanks, shirley.
I know Aruba is dry at that time of year. I was there last year and we had about 5 mins of rain and we have booked for next July.
Thanks Starry
we're looking at booking a thomson caribbean cruise for two weeks departing 29th march. will it be really too hot and sticky or is there a nice breeze? could we expect rain?
i just wondered if anyone has stayed in Varadero around the end of october/beginning of november and, if so, what was the weather like? i know it's still hurricane season then but just wanted to know what kind of conditions you might have experienced.
ta folks
Hi all just wondered if any knew what the weather is normally like in the dom rep the beginning of june.

Hope this is of help.
Angie.
Is it going to be red hot, sunny with odd rain spells?
Checked wunderground for last year and not too many rain days but the year before there was a lot.
Does it ever rain all day everyday???
It's the 'how long is a piece of string question'! August is in the unsettled months and as you've found, it can be glorious sunshine or raining. The average for August is late 80's and 8" of rain, one of the wetter months but of course this is just an average. There's no guarantees what it will be like at that time of year, you take your chances. I normally have my Caribbean holiday in March as the weather is generally lovely but then I'm not governed by school holidays. The rain tends to come down in short, sharp downpours and many are at night. That's not to say you won't get some through the day as well though! Which part of the Dom Rep you re staying in can make a difference too.

I think Darren is right you just have to take a chance, we came back on Monday from the DR and for ten days we had rain and cloud, in fact it rained all night, all the next day and all night again in the first week. Still enjoyed it though
DAZBO, I would like to stay in or near to Cabo rojo which is on the same caost as Santa Dominigo. Is the weather likely to be less affected by huricanes, in August.
Garry_Nutter,
we are travelling to cabarete in dominican on monday, and are slightly concerned about the weather on every weather site we have looked at it says rain for the nerxt 2 weeks,is this the norm(hope not) wondering if it will be showers or constant rain, wish we had known this before we booked ,
