She was in the bank this morning, Bex. As soon as she said "XL", they took her to one side with forms and made phone calls for her so she can claim. At least it was a Visa debit card.

She's feeling a bit guilty because Longwood guests won't be going today, including altygirl :cry
She doesn't feel too sorry for those that are still stuck out there though ;)

My son and I were the only ones in resort that had actually booked direct with Xl airlines on their website so therefore, we had no protection. Luckily, I had a call from the UK at 6.30am the morning of the collapse and had made alternative arrangements by 7.00am to get us home, but paying £708 for two tickets one way with Easyjet. We had the hardship of two extra days in resort! The Longwood flight from Manchester on the Monday was cancelled and didnt come in and those who were booked on a Longwood holiday flying with XL were taken out of the Egypt and they flew back to the UK via Ovda. Some had only arrived on the Thursday and were told they had to return on the Tuesday - obviously, some were, or should have been there for 2 weeks - how devastating is that! Anyone who chose not to return with Longwood had to make their own alternative arrangements.

Large groups of divers had booked flights with XL to attend technical diving courses in the coming weeks and they have had to rebook with another airline, but of course, the airlines are capitolising on this sad situation and the flights are rising daily.

I arrived back last night and I am now in the process of finding out how I go about claiming any money back and from whom

I'd heard of changes at Soliman - in fact there was different staff there in the summer. They were asking some hefty fares too - quickly agreed to what I told them I'd pay for a ride up to Swisscare which was a fraction of what they asked!

Any sign of the new management in the dive centre yet? More Germans I've heard...

Hi also heard that soloman was not going to be there for much longer when we were there in August. What's the new general manager like??? Anyone heard??
;)

Alan Dive Center still in Steffi and Andys capable hands till end of next month. Chris and Noleen havnt got the managers job as a requirement is to speak another language.

Abo Lou Lou has been renovated and finally has a new & extensive menu. Prices have gone up and ai inc discount has been reduced by 10LE to 30LE (which is fine). But by far the biggest shock - no drinks in there are available on the all inclusive - a bottle of water per table only. Outrageous. In my view they seem to be gradually eroding all the benefits of going to the hotel. :( :(

I don't think they can erode ALL the benefits - not without digging up the beach, poisoning the fish and turning off the sunshine... :sun2

However, the AI drinks are a bonus in the Abou Lou Lou - I may have to rethink some fledgling birthday plans for next summer...

Alan - You are so witty!!

Agree that those three things cannot be ruined.
However, lots of other things are not so good nowadays at the Coral, even the difference since last Xmas to August was noticeable. There are lots of good improvements but the customer care focus has gone down the drain.

Hopefully new manager will redeem the place.

Could you not go for dinner at the Swisscare for your birthday?
