Can anyone shed some light on pre-security restaurants at LGW?
In particular their closing times?
The BAA website states that Frankie and Bennies etc close at 2130 - is this right?
We're staying at the Sofitel - but don't want to pay their high restaurant prices!!
Wife will be 22 weeks preg and doesn't want to get the bus/train into Crawley or Redhill!!!!
Thanks.
Joe's Kitchen till 2200. cheers Tonyt
The Village Inn Wetherspoons pub at South Terminal is apparently also open until 11pm
Or if you're not fussy, Burger King in the South Terminal is open all night.
Isn't there a local pub nearby (like on the A23 heading north) that's walkable, or something similar?
I've also read the bar at the Sofitel does pub meals at reasonable prices - that would be ideal - anyone know about this?
I shall be interested to know about the Sofitel bar doing pub meals also. As we are using the Sofitel for an overnight stay before departing to the Dom. Rep. We dont want to pay the earth for an evening meal!!!
Can anyone please tell me, how can I arrive in Gatwick from Luton? In february we will go to Mexico, and our plane from Bucharest will land early in the morning on Luton.
Also, can you please reccomend me a cheap and good accomodation(I know that cheap and good things are impossible :P) in Gatwick?
Is there anything to do in Gatwick?
Thank you in advance, and sorry if this has already been discussed, but I did not find anything with my search.
Bogdan
I think the cheapest hotels may be the Travelodge and Ibis . I believe the Premier Inn
Gatwick Central is within walking distance.
The nearest town is Crawley.
Thank you so much Judith.
The staff are really friendly and the Hoppa bus is really handy for getting to and from the airport, £3 each way and up don't pay for kids!!!!
I also think the bar and restaurant are pretty good, sometimes rather busy but that may be sign of how good it is!!!
Anyway just wanted to share that with you.
To all who are jetting off soon - enjoy
Still, looking over their site I have seen that they have such hotels also in London I know I could be offtopic, but what about the hotels in London?
For me is something fishy to pay 29 Pounds(39 with early checkin) for a hotel near London Bridge(Travelodge London tower bridge Street, which is available from december). Anyhow there are more other near the downton with incredible low prices. If everything is ok with these hotels, we rather stay in London and visit for a while then stay in Gatwick
Bogdan
Travelodge have been doing promotions like this for ages so you don't need to worry. The rooms will be basic but clean - we've used them lots of times all over the uk with no problems - we had a room in London near Kings Cross station for £10 once. The only thing is the low rates aren't refundable if you need to cancel.
The only thing I can say is WOW! Never thought that I can say about London's accomodation that can be cheap.
Some of the travelodges I've stayed in in London have been top notch.
I love their beds!
Oh I can't wait 9 days till I'm back in one!
sorry getting a back carried away!
19 cars were distroyed in the early hours of Monday morning when arsonists tourched the over flow car parking facility in Crawley, near Gatwick Airport.
Not the best news to return to after arriving back off your flight.

I suppose it is such a busy hotel in a busy location that the owners do not want to shut it down for a refurb for even a nano second- and it shows.
i always use the hilton , costs more but is covenient , the package i book with them direct works out cost effective if you want the whole package.
We have also used the Hilton and found it to be a good package.
Try Little Foxes Hotel very good great car parking rates also
I am flying from MAN to LGW North Terminal (arriving midweek at 7.40am) and then I have to collect my luggage and then check in for my flight to Cancun (North Terminal). Can you tell me how long it would take to get from Arrivals to Departures? Also, would you have to queue up at immigation if your flight is UK domestic? The reason I ask is that my flight to Cancun is at 10.10 and I am concerned I wont have another time to get to the check in desk.
Thanks
