Bigmamtam. Thank you so much for such a quick reply. I'm off to order it now.
Just wondering if the mosquito repellant wrist bands work?
I've found citronella oil in a spray bottle with water very effective in the past
Husband is O positive and hardly ever gets a bite
I have told him its because my blood is tastier than his
I'm A pos and get bitten to death have used all sorts of sprays and protection to no avail. When going to malaria risk areas I always take medical precautions.
My friends husband was working in Nigeria last year and he took all the precautions etc but got malaria, he had to be flown home by air ambulance and was very poorly for a while , he's ok now, the little swines are not put off by anything
I can reccomend Vit B complex tablets they worked for me last year also i put lemon grass in my lotions and give it a good shake and that keeps the mossies away also
Hello everyone, have heard many people say about viamin B6. I have looked in several shops today and they vary in dosage. What is best dose to take? 50mg or is that too much? When is best to start takin it? There are also vitamin B complex ones, are they as good?
If you can get hold of some cintronella oil, a few dabs on the table cloth and your ankles seems to help too. If there are candles on the tables, a drop into there helps. I was told, don't sit with your legs under the table as the mosquitoes like the cold, dark hideaway. Sit at an angle with your legs outside of the table.
It is Vitamin B1 - I got some from Holland & Barratt. You can also try eating Marmite - some people take a jar of Marmite on holiday to put on their toast every morning. I always take VitB1 tablets and Garlic capsules, starting about 2 weeks before the holiday and continuing through the holiday.Mobor One wrote:B6? I thought it was B1 which we needed?
Unfortunately, I seem to be a magnet for the little blighters, no matter what I do - I'm a Marmite addict, but even that doesn't seem to put them off. I've tried almost everything anyone has recommended, and I still get bitten!
I'd rather be bitten by a Mozzie than eat marmite
Hellooo , posted this on the suntan thread, but thought I would stick it on here too. I hate mosqitoes with a vengeance, but sadly, they stalk me every holiday ! Bought boots own suntan lotion with added insect repellant and the aftersun last year on holiday and it was brilliant ! only one bite ( which is a proper first for me, it didn't even go manky, weyhay !! ) its on BOGOF at the mo too ! But as a back up this holiday, I got some 'lifesystems' spray with 95% deet from a camping shop, it'll probably melt my clothes, but hey, if it stops enemy number 1, i'll be a happy holidayer !!
But I recently heard a sensible tip: take a flyspray with you and give the room a quick burst at bedtime. Mossies often feed at night and this will kill any intruders before you use plug-ins etc overnight.
Both times I have been to Kenya the staff always without fail came in and sprayed the rooms of an evening, normally just before you are about to go out for your evening meal. An incentive to get out of the room as the stuff smells a bit.
When we were in Turkey I sprayed an ordinary fly spray around the room just before we went for our evening meal and turned off our air conditioning to allow the spray to "settle" in all areas of the room. Later on, after our meal we would return to the room and put the air conditioning back on so the room would be cool (and not smelling of insecticide) when we came back at bedtime. You just have to be careful not to leave the door open for too long so that no more "visitors" come in after you've sprayed!alanwall wrote:I recently heard a sensible tip: take a flyspray with you and give the room a quick burst at bedtime.
We spray the room with fly spray, and Tesco have been selling an handy small sized fly spray which will fit in your bag. Handy for when you are out and about.
Hello, sorry if this has been asked before, I noticed that my local 99p shop were selling the plug in mosquitoe things, I wondered if anyone had specifically used these cheap ones and if they are as effective as the more expensive type
I've seen these loads of times but never tried them incase they are no good! I usually get mine (Jungle Formula) in Boots/Superdrug/Tesco when they are on BOGOF or three 4 two offer.
Many of the items things sold in such shops are bulk "end of line/discontinued" purchases.
The shops have got them dirt cheap, they sell them on for 99p an item and still make a
decent profit.
(Many shops such as Home Bargains, Instore and TJ Hughes also work on that basis with many of their goods.)
Replacement tablets for the plug ins can be bought everywhere nowadays - I have found Asda and Instore
to be cheap for them.
