Would he wear a pair of chinos? Most youngsters wear a pair of smart casual trousers for dinner. I don't remember seeing any jeans at dinner but perhaps someone else will be able to advise.

My 16 year old son wore a pair of chino type trousers to the captains gala dinner, but wore jeans the rest of the time ( not scruffy ones though!!)as did some of the other teenage lads on board. Hope that will put his and your minds at rest.

Thanks , we'll probably just get him a pair of black jeans to wear , we won't be doing the Gala dinner so no need to worry about that to much.
Thanks for the replies

Yeah black jeans or dark jeans would be fine. It's really quite an informal type of cruise really, much to my son's relief as he hates getting dressed up and was quite happy in jeans in the evenings. Also there's no point in the expense of buying clothes that won't ever be worn again. Hope you have a nice time.

Hi there,

I am going onto the Destiny for a weeks cruise end of June with my friend. We have opted for the early sitting dinner but due to late flight times we will not be arriving into Palma until 7pm. This means we will probably not get onboard until 8pm earliest...

What time do the two sittings for dinner start?

I have heard that on the first day you have to register for a table either for early or late sitting and that is your table for the rest of the cruise.
Does this mean our reservations will be messed up? Or do we have a late sitting dinner on the first night and have early sitting dinners for the rest of the week?

Thanks :)

If you've opted for the earlier sitting when you booked then it will already arranged on board. The dinner sittings only apply for one of the restaurants on board, the Seven Seas (where there is waiter service), so you will have missed both sittings there by the time you get boarded and all the formalities out of the way. Don't worry though as there are other restaurants on board ( buffet style) where you will be able to have a meal on your first night. For the rest of the cruise, you will be allocated a table in the Seven Seas for whichever sitting you opted for, but you don't have to eat there every night if you feel like a change and want to eat later on in the evening elsewhere.

Oooh, thanks Kimi. That has certainly cleared up the confusion!

We were just worried that we wouldn't have reserved a table if it was on a "first come, first served" basis.

What time are the two sittings?

Hi Nattyb

Your first night meal on Destiny is open sitting you will receive a table number and seating time in your cabin on arrival which you can change if you require in you havent asked for early or late they will prob put you early.

Have a nice time

Going on the Destiny Med Renaissance and wondered if anyone had travelled from Palamos to Figueras independently as we would like to visit the Dali museum. Is it straightforward or do we need to do the excursion?

Can anybody advise whether debit cards are acceptable to register at reception for the on board account. I know that credit cards are OK as the credit limit is most probably higher and funds more readily accessible.

I have been on 13 Thomson cruises + have never owned a credit card,i have always registered a debit card.

That's great Johnny. Thank you for your reply. But one other question...how do they know that you have sufficient funds in your account? Not that the person going won't have. Do they check? :que

Hi hbrac
Not sure about that, vaguely remember years ago they maye have billed twice in one week.
Billed @ every £100.
Ive always gone A/I so rarely spend more than £100 on shipboard account, couple bottles of water + wifeys bingo !!! + if docking outside EU,ie Tangier/Croatia etc couple bottles of spirits + cigs from ship Duty Free shop.
Just found a boarding Cruise News, says recommended method of payment credit/debit card.
Was on Pullmantur last October + they accepted debit card also.

I agree. There's not much to spend your money on onboard especially with the free drinks package. Just photos and bits from the shop.
