Hi there,
I returned from a weeks cruise on the Destiny a couple of weeks ago and thought that spending a bit more to upgrade to a cabin on Deck 6 would be an amazing "treat" however, you feel the motion of the ship a LOT more from higher up the ship, and would have actually paid anything to be downgraded to a deck 2/3 cabin!
It is inevitable that you will feel the ships motion from any deck, however, i would choose a lower deck cabin as it's more stable down below.
Regarding the crew, having spoken to a lot of them, their cabins are NOT part of the passengers cabins as advertised in the brochures and on deck plans. They have separate cabin and crew areas so they do not take up any passengers cabins so the amount of cabins you see in the Deck 2 deck plans are for passengers only.
Hope this helps!
We are going on our first cruise (Destiny on 15th October), I can travel anywhere on anything but my wife is not good - only been across the channel twice and she was ill both times, so I booked a cabin 3115, quite low down and virtually amidships & athwartships- hope it works for her.
What are current smoking regulations - I don't smoke much but thoroughly enjoy my pipe when I am having a drink.
Thanks for the cabin info. Think we'll just stick to 2/3, suppose we can always change once we're there if it's unsuitable.
Its no smoking inside that also means the cabins ( they do check with detectors) but you can have a smoke on deck on one side of ship only (its the left side facing forward) thats also the 'mast bar' but they do serve drinks all round the deck.
I have never been on the lower decks but have spoken to lots who have and they say the only noise is from the engines at the rear of the ship.
Have a great time. 10 weeks left for us

Obviously I can work out there's an extra bed! But does the 2/3 cabin have more room (3 people) or less room (to squeeze the pulldown bed in).
Just wondered...
I have been on both Decks 2 and 3 and never had any problem with noise or motion but I have always pre-booked to ensure a cabin in the middle which I believe alleviates this.
I have never seen any crew cabins on Deck 2 on Destiny but that is true of Celebration - the entertainment staff all had cabins on Deck 2.
Hope that helps!
there is no difference between a cabin (sleeps 2) and a cabin (sleeps 2 to 3). All this means is that there is the extra bed in the "sleeps 2 to 3" cabin whereas there is no extra pull down bed in the "sleeps 2" cabin.
Obviously when all 3 beds are down there is less room than just having 2 beds but as far as I know there is the same amount of wardrobe space etc as in the "sleeps 2" cabin.
Hope this helps!
Looks ok, wish I was going this week
We had cabin 3148 which was directly mid-ship on deck 3 , no feeling of motion at all and minimal noise from engines , also really handy for the elevators , about 10 steps from the room door , up the elevator and you were on the Lido Deck - it's a great ship.
can any one tell me if i need a Jacket & Tie (Hate Ties) would welcome any other advice as all though we have been lots off places its our first time cruising
dont like the idea of being so confined and i also suffer from motion sickness why book a cruise ???
keep you know who happy
Cheers Alan
PS have drinks package
However, most of the ladies do enjoy the chance of putting on their gladrags...and its not much to ask the men to wear a tie for an hour or two is?
Apart from formal night, the restaurant dress code is a collared shirt (polo shirt will do) and smart casual trousers...my husband usually wear something like chino's or cord effect jeans (not denim though)....so no ties needed. (No dress code in the buffet ...wear your shorts if you like LOL)
hope you enjoy....you shouldnt even feel the ship moving at this time of year so hopefully you wont suffer from any motion sickness.....
Sorry did not mean to sound so selfish taking and wearing a tie not a problem now that i know its needed confusion was whether it was needed IE there was a gala/captains night, wife is really looking forward to holiday as i say im more apprehensive regarding being confined to the ship the small cabins and sea sickness, sorry im off again really i am looking forward to it especially visiting Rome all be it for a day, although i sound a misery guts i really will go for it and we will both have a great time, as i say any advise would be appreciated
Cheers
Alan
As for dinner as per above , one formal night if you wish to do it , if you don't eat at the buffet restuarant , thats we did , i wear a collar and tie 48 weeks per year and a dinner suit almost one or twice every month of the year so i holiday to get away from being formally dressed , especially when eating but loads od people love it and rave about it , but it does nothing for me.
Smart casual the rest of the nights is fine , a shirt or polo with a pair of trousers is plenty
6 weeks on thursday cant wait
We are travelling out on the Destiny in just over a week. First trip. We have taken the all inclusive package. Does anyone have a link to the all inclusive drinks menu? Also, not sure whether to take our own towels or are they supplied; get sick of taking towels on holiday that we never need to use and using valuable baggage space? Also can you buy sea sickness tabs. on board or are we best taking some with us?
While you are waiting for someone to post a recent bar list, there is one HERE from 2 years ago which will give you an idea what is included.
Towels in the cabin and pool towels are provided so you don't need to take any.
I would recommend buying Stugeron from the chemist here before you go, but check with the pharmacist that they are suitable for you. I believe they are not suitable for some people with certain eye conditions.
