Your probably going to tell me Thomson's dont own her. !!
Yep I know#
Louis Lines own her, but the lease may be up !!
It was one of the English Thomson Crew who told me she is going end of season 2010.
The ship is looking very very tired now and they need to spend loads of money to get her up to the standard required. I just cannot see them spending a huge amount of money on a refit.
But hey stranger things have happened.

Looking at booking this ship for our aniversary next May on the moorish itinery. There is a free upgrader for the drinks. Does anyone know if:

1. You can choose your cabin (really want one with a double bed/outside on deck 3.
2. Are gratuaties included in the price. If not does anyone know how much per day per person these are.

Thanks for any info.

Yep you can book your cabin number and floor. Cost you £35. for the pleasure though.
Tips are included in the price. You can however slip them a tenner if your happy with the service.
Have fun

Fortuna is a done deal. Sailing the Med in 2010.
Replacing the Destiny for the Romantica - as I said it was one of the crew who told me. But if its true she will not be on line until 2011 at least.

My understanding is that the Costa Europa is the ship that thomson will use next year and not the Fortuna, which is a fairly new ship!

I know there's no definitive answer to this question but I'm just hoping for some opinions please.
This year we went on The Destiny for the first time and had an outstanding holiday. It was in lieu of an Island Star cruise we had previously booked and we consequently got a great deal, de-luxe outside cabin etc. As we try and have at least a couple of holidays a year we can't really justify paying full price for one 'main holiday' but we'd love to go on Destiny again. When do people think is the best time for booking/ getting a 'late deal' on Destiny considering we'd hope to go next June. As long as we could get a midship cabin we're not too fussed about which deck and preferably from Palma round the Med.
As I said I know there's no real answer but what experience have other people had in getting a good late deal and do you think the addition of Dream will mean deals on Destiny are more likely?

Thanks,

Jim

It is a difficulty question to answer , i went on the Destiny in June this year and booked in July last year and felt i got great value for money , however this year the pricing is £500-£600 more expensive from Glasgow plus the Dream is another £600-£700 more than that , so at the moment i'm priced out of returning which is a pity as we feel it was one of the best holidays we'd ever had.

I still keep checking on-line every day though to see if a bargain can be had !!!

Just booked the Destiny for July 2010. Have booked four berth cabin number 3163. Does anybody know the approximate size of these cabins as we are a family of four with children being older teenagers and are a bit concerned about the potential small size? Thomson's brochure says inside cabins are between 111 - 166 sq ft - I would assume the four berth cabins are size 166 sq ft - can anybody enlighten me?

hi , i was in Cabin 3148 last year and i won't kid you it will be tight particularly with two older teens , you will have two single beds and two pull down bunks above them , that said you'll hardly spend anytime in your room as you'll be far to busy having a great time - i've booked again for next year (3rd July 2010) and am in Cabin 3141 just along from you.

Any more questions or queries then just ask and i'll help as best i can.

The ship is old in comparison to the super ships they seem to buiod these days but it's a great holiday and i think great value as well.

Just shout if you want to know anything else.

Cheers

smurf,
Small world - I was in cabin 3148 this year. hehe

Phil.Wirral.
Yes the cabin are very small particularly when the bunks are folded down. Makes it look even smaller. Fam of 4 with big teenagers, believe me you will be tripping over each other. Not so bad at night because youll all be sleeping. Only problem will arrive at 6ish when your all getting changed for dinner. Best to do that in shifts. Tenagers first - kick them out, and then the big kids after them.
To be honest the size of the cabins dosnt really matter as you are never in there unless your sleeping or getting changed. Even the cruisers who spend big bucks on those deluxe cabins do not spend a great deal of time in them either. Better to have the extra bucks and spend it on yourself.
Have fun :cheers

Hi All

Just came across this board by mistake but its a very good one, I have just returned from a cruise on the Thomson Destiny 3rd to the 10th of Sept it was our first cruise and all I can say is that I had the time of my life on the Destiny, the crew are simply brilliant always happy and helpful the food was great and so was my cabin on deck 5 a litte cramped but fine for the 7 days we were on board. I would recommend a Thomson cruise to anyone they know how to look after you, the night shows superb.

Did anyone ever take a cabin on the lower decks as some people said the engine noise was a bit loud we never heard a thing in fact twice I got up at night as I thought we had stopped.

I wll be going again :) :) :)

Hi, another new member! My wife & I sailing on Destiny on October 1st from Palma. (Anyone else on this trip?)
This will be our first cruise and after reading a number of very negative reviews, we are a little concerned as they were written as recently as August. Some mentioned that the food was very poor and others thought the drinks package was a huge con, with only flat Stella & Boddingtons plus a few soft drinks available. Also if you wanted a bottle of wine with your meal, you are expected to pay an extra £8.
One woman said she felt out of place when she was boarding in Palma as she was the only person not under 25, covered in tattoos and wearing an England football shirt!!
There were also negative comments about the cabins eg very small showers, threadbare towels, insufficient wardrobe space & hangers.
Your comments would be appreciated & I'm sure, very helpful.

Hi davegee

I am just back from a 7 day cruise last week on Destiny and I loved every minute of it,there were no tattooed people on board that I saw, the showers are a bit on the small side as are the cabins but for 7 nights they are ok as you will not be in them only for sleeping.

The food on our trip was excellent and as for the crew they cannot do enough for you, we did not take the drinks package and the only lager availabe is Stella also if you want wine etc you will have to pay for them. What deck are you on as the higher up you are the less engine noise there is we met a few people who were on the lower decks near the stern and they said the engine noise was pretty bad, we were in an outside cabin on deck 5 so no noise. The entertainment at night was very good all in all you should have a great time. Last week we had really warm weather for the full cruise with temp in the 30 degrees, if you are going for the formal restaurants sit down meals they very good but on deck 9 where they serve the same meals without dressing up it is even better as you can eat as much as you want, also the sit down restaurant serves breakfast from 7.30 until 9.30 but again you can have the same breakfast on deck 9 until 11am if you want to sleep on. The bars are large and comy especially Blakes and the obeservation lounge, one tip if you want to see the shows in the Can Can or the oaklahoma stay in the one where you want to see a specific show as the people constantly move from one to other and if you went to the Oaklahoma to see one show as soon as its over everyone heads in mass to the Can Can for the next one so it can be hard to get a table there were four of us but you get wise as the cruise goes on.

Enjoy your trip hope this helps
