Can someone remind me about the voltage and adaptor. Is it 110V and 2 flat pin or 2 round pin ? Thanks.

Hi hbrac

Depends which cabin you are in, delux and above, have both 220v and 110v, standard cabins have 110v 2pin flat

Hope this helps

Alas...it's 110v for the plebs then :rofl Thanks for your reply. Just the info we needed. :tup

110v works very well for all appliances. Thers is a 220v behind the tv. Take 3 or 4 pin extension lead with you and run it out to the dressing table. No probs for all your bits and bobs to charge up at night time. Even great for the wifes hair straightners/dryer. If you are like us, your never in the
cabin to use the tv anyway. You can do that at home. Besides more interesting stuff happens upstairs. :cheers
Countdown now to Destiny. 30th Jul

Thanks Colin. Good tip about the extension lead. We always take one nowadays. Always loads to plug in.If the GHD's don't work there will be tears and tantrums with all that sea air. :rofl

We're going on the Destiny next month. Just wanted to know if we can charge up our camera & phone in our cabin. Been told its a 2 pin flat but we need a 3 pin socket.
Also, is there a laundry on the ship?
Thanks

Flat pin on the Dressing Table (rubbish). Take an extension lead with you. Plug it into the tele above beds and run the lead to the dresser table. Handy for charging bits and bobs, also for the wifes Hair Straightners etc. Beside there is no need for the tv you can do that at home.
enjoy

Hi Everyone

I am hoping for some advice if anyone can help :) the answer to my questions have probably been answered 100 times before, sorry :(

My boyfriend and I are heading on a stay and cruise holiday in 4 weeks time (1week in Majorca and 1week cruise on the thomson destiny med). This is our first holiday together, and also a first time cruising for both of us, so not really sure what to expect.

we were wondering what the dress code is for men in the evening? do they have to were long trousers all night, every night, or is it just for the meal? I have heard the destiny is not as formal as other cruise line.

can anyone reccommend what I should bring on board (or should I say what will work?) i.e hairdryer, straightners etc?

we are also wondering about the all inc drinks package, does it include everythind or is there a limited selection.

I think these are our main concerns....but if i think of anything else i'll be sure to ask.

Thanks everyone in advance!!

Hi D3B5 very cryptic. !

Yep your questions have been answered a million times. But it great to get re-assured.
Dress Code.
Evening meal in the Seven Seas is Trousers and Shirt. Monkey Suit or Suit/Shirt & Tie for Captains Night. One per week.
Lido Restaurant - 24hrs - Wear what you want.
A lot of people nip downstairs after dinner and slip into something more confortable, like Jeans or 3/4 Shorts - No dress code in the bars.
Ladies similar !!!
Hairdryer already in room. Straigtners will work. Best to take a small extension lead with 2-3 adaptors. Very usefull for charging cameras and will stretch to the dressing table for your straightners.
Most Importantly
All Inclusive Bar List. This list is a very extensive list - lots on their to suit everyone's taste. All your usual Gins - Vodka - Bacardi - Whisky - Wine (by Glass) Beer (Stella) All mixers and Cocktails (about 30 types).
Some expensive Brands of Whiskey & Brandy & Baileys - there will be an excess charge for.
But there is enough alcohol on the list to suit everybody's taste.
Have fun in the sun :cheers

Also the All Inclusive stops at 2am? (someone correct me if I'm wrong...may be 4am) so after this time you will need to pay for your drinks.

hbrac.
Yep you are right. 2am the AI stops. Just get a few extra drinks for the table and that will keep you going should you wish to carry on socializing :cheers

colinbredin and hbrac

thank u so much for replying :) has definitely re-assured us, great info about the AI times and list of drink...i will def find something on there i like!!

only 3 weeks until we go now! are you both going on destiny this year?

just wondering if you would have any advice about sun loungers?? do I need to be up at the crack of dawn to get them? lol (not that I could stick lying in the sun all day)

also, I know it will be extremely hot out at sea...but would you advise heavy clothing for night time? or would short sleeve tops etc be ok while on board?

my questions prob seem so silly, but im actually quite nervous about going incase I havn't packed the right things! lol.

One things I am looking forward to though is the entertainment...I've heard a lot of positive feedback for cruise ships. do they only have shows in the main dining area? or do the bars have something going on in them too?

thank again for your replies :cheers

One thing I forgot...if you are a light sleeper take some foam earplugs. The cabin walls are quite thin.
You don't have to be up at 5am for a lounger (infact if I remember, they are tied up until a respectable time)
Due to the air conditioning it does get chilly onboard in the evenings. Ladies need a cardi or shrug or shawl. It can get windy on your perambulations round the deck at night too.The Lido can get a bit windy too.

The main shows are in the lounges .The daytime quizes usually take place on deck. There are other things going on in other locations at various times. You will find it all in the Cruise News which is put under your cabin door each night . This tells you about the next port and what's happening the next day.
Type each emergency port number into your mobile if you're getting off ,together with the ship's telephone number just incase.

It's worth hiring a safety deposit box.I think it's about £12 for a week but well worth it.You can store your money, passport ,tickets etc. I think the Destiny ones are in the cabin. You get a key.

Don't feel silly about asking questions. There are lots of HT members who will happily give you the benefit of their knowledge. After all everyone has to start somewhere.

Text from the Destiny .In Villefranche at the mo. Paul is Cruise Director (think that might be Paul Fisher) Dan Kent is Assistant Cruise Director, Emma and Kate also onboard.

Just back from a week on the Destiny followed by a week in Alcudia. Boy you've picked a great ship, we had a wonderful time. The entertainment was first class, Paul Fisher & the team are as good as some West End shows I've seen. The fixed dining in the Seven Seas is a great idea, we met some wonderful Irish people on our table and continued to spend time at the shows with them. As has been stated the drinks list, other than draught lagers/beers, is extensive and I'll be surprised if you can get through the list of cocktails. We found the air-conditioning on the ship wasn't too bad in the lounges, I wore a short sleeved shirt and was comfortable. The safe is £12/ week unless you are in a de-luxe or suite, when it's free. We had a de-luxe and it was excellent including fridge and tea & coffee facilities. There is a gym which is not too bad, a couple of treadmills, a few steppers and rowing machines and some free weights. There was never any shortage of sun loungers even during on-sea days. Anything else just ask away.

Hi Jim98

Pleased you had a good time but i think most people do on that ship we have been on her many times now and allways, as you did, meet some nice people. Did you find Mark the head waiter in Seven Seas we first meet him on the Spirit and he still remembers our names every time we go back (his photo is in the Thomson brochure), we have booked for next March, Caribbean again.
Dont forget to post a report on the cruise reviews.

Regards
Roger
