HI has anyone used the Jet Parks at Manchester airport they are new this season Thank you
A quick question re Thomas Cook Airlines check-in at Manchester; Do they have a post office style system of queuing ie all flights at all desks or is it the more traditional 2 or 3 desks per flight?
Post Office !
We are traveling from terminal 3 on Easyjet how many booking in desks are there. It appears that there are about 3 EJ flights around the time we flying so woundered if we had to be there very early. My daughter flew with them from Liverpool and had to que for nearly 2 hours to check in and nearly missed her flight, but then there was only one desk open .
Thanks John, i guess that means we can check in really nice and early!
Me to, I am flying with Bmi on sunday 09/08 at terminal 3, I am getting there extra early, I used to work in the terminal for british airways., and there aint many check in desks.. I want seats together.. I fly at 8.20am..malaga.. ENJOY whoever is going this weekend from manchester...
Does anyone know if the landside shops/cafes at T2 have been removed as part of the re-furb? My mum & dad are taking us to the airport when we go to Lanzarote and I would have liked them to stop for a cuppa with us before we go, but if this is the case I guess we'll be heading to grotty arrivals instead? And at 5am in the morning, it's not quite the same!
Thanks v.much
Helen
We flew from Terminal 2 in June with Thomas Cook, and were informed when checing in there was a 2 hour delay. We decided once we check in we wouldn't go through security as five hours in an airport for a smoker, then a 4 hour flight would be hell. There were no cafes in Terminal 2 Landside, but you could walk along the bridge which takes you into terminal 1, there were a number of cafes open and greggs, this was about 3 am in the morning.
Steve
Can anyone reccommend a park and fly hotel that isnt going to break the budget?? In an ideal world it will involve no driving on the morning of the flight!?
Have you tried the Travelodge, you can book it through one of the holiday extras sites and get hotel and parking combined. It worked out as being the cheapest way when we did it.
My husband heard this mentioned on the car radio, and there was a report in a Birmingham local paper on the web about a strike ballot when I googled it, but we have heard nothing else at all. Does anyone else know anything, please?

Ballot result not due until next Monday so nothing is finalised.

Thanks Steve - I'll put off worrying until Monday.
What will probably happen is that tomorrows result will be that the ballot is in favour of strike action. However, the media will simplify that to they are going on strike, thus causing more panic. In the meantime the employers will call more talks and sometime around midnight on Thursday a deal will be done. Well that's what happens 90% of the time!
Well, Steve - thanks again (I think)

Ryanair have announced they will be cutting 9 out of 10 of their regular routes out of Manchester Airport from October onwards.
Talk about spitting out the dummy.
I think Ryanair do provide a useful alternative but they must not be allowed to dictate to airports and passengers what the destinations are.
We the flying public are the cash generators and therefore thats where the decisions must lie
Leeds Bradford need to be careful because if Ryr drive Jet2 out and then pull out themselves the airport will be deep in the mire

Ryanair to slash Manchester flights
Ryanair is to switch or close nine of its 10 routes from Manchester Airport.
The changes will take effect from October 1 and will result in the loss of 44 weekly flights and up to 600 local jobs.
The airline said most affected flights would be switched to East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, and Liverpool airports.
The nine routes from Manchester that will close are to Barcelona (Girona), Bremen, Brussels (Charleroi), Cagliari, Dusseldorf (Weeze), Frankfurt (Hahn), Marseille, Milan (Bergamo) and Shannon.
Ryanair blamed high airport charges for its decision, although the airport disputed this.
Last month, the no-frills carrier announced it would cut flights from London Stansted by 30% over the winter period for the same reason.
Ryanair claimed it had offered to launch an additional 28 weekly flights at Manchester if the airport had agreed to reduce its charges, but the offer was rejected.
A Manchester Airport spokesperson said: "Not withstanding all of our investment in Manchester Airport including during the current recession, we don't believe that charges as low as £3 per passenger are unreasonable. Clearly, Ryanair do and that's regrettable.
"We've consistently cut our charges for the last 15 years even when faced with increased costs such as security.
"Passengers will still be able to travel directly to the majority of the destinations affected by choosing other airlines."
Ryanair said passengers affected by the changes would be e-mailed and given a full refund, or the choice of flying to some destinations from East Midlands, Leeds Bradford and Liverpool.
