The insurance companies will ask questions re your health and pre existing conditions. I think ours asks about hospitalization, operations etc. within the last 2 years and then depending on the answer probes further. You have to declare everything and they will then tell you what they will cover for and at what cost. It is up to you if you decide to cover any pre existing conditions. Obviously anything you decide not to cover for or anything you don't declare will not be covered in the event of any problems.
There is a list of companies on the first page of this thread that you may find useful. Maybe the British Cardiac Patients Association could help with the name of some companies that specifically cover heart conditions.
Hope this helps.

one of the best insurance companies i have used for travel is insure and go the have mea good medical screening and if you suffer from more serious complaints i.e Epilepsy or angina or heart complaints doing travel insurance through epilepsy action could be the answer to your travel problems
remember when doing a medical screen for insurance always tell the truth as otherwise this will deem your policy invalid if you needed to use it

use the telephone number on the page you are directed to
and i have a direct link on my website to insure and go

Hi milliemeg
Just seen your query.
Yes I used to insure with AA and when I got Cancer last year I had to cancel a holiday I had booked.
They settled my claim very efficiently. I dont use them now as I could not get full cover now.

Found this link to be invaluable last year as my had cancer and many companies were refusing insurance or the prices were ridiculous. Contacted All Clear and got the insurance for £125 for the annual policy. More expensive than standard insurance but still the cheapest by a long way.

Contacted them a few days ago to renew my insurance and I was even getting a 10% loyalty discount. To my horror however the price including the discount had shot up to £218. Thanks but no thanks.

So its back to the drawing board and start phoning around again

Just spoken with Medici insurance, their details are on the first page and got an excellent qoute from them for annual policy. Both myself and wife have pre existing conditions and thie quote was almost half the price of the company i had used last year. Highly recommended

I am due to fly to Tenerife with my mother who suffers from Ulcerative Collitis and has never travelled before, therefore wants to know she is insured the best way she can be. Can any one advise me of any companies you may know of. Thanks

All you can do is call up several insurance companies to see if they will cover her. Some may not offer cover at all and others may offer it at an increased premium.

There is a list of companies to try on Page 1 of this topic.

has anyone used 'insure and go' for a medical condition....

I've been with insure and go for the last 4 years . My son has a medical condition (epilepsy as a child and ongoing bladder issues) . None of these cost me anything extra but obviously I have to declare them and go through all the usual questions. I've always found them very good and made 2 claims in the past without any problems .

yes they have a good screening process my daughter works for the company and also settles claims very fast

Hi Crispy ... was the 'dummy run' via the online quote system ? If so, it may be worth trying to speak to a human, if you haven't already done so. The medical screening line is 0800 083 9503.

ok thanks for replies....what happens say i get a vomiting bug or a cut toe..something simple and need a doc in tunisia..do we pay cash or what....

It depends on your policy. For small sums you may have to pay up front and claim it back with receipts. However, remember you will have an excess to pay so it may not be worth claiming if the bill is less than your excess.
