Hi
We are also travelling with Thomas Cook on TCX92K (16th July) TCX92L (30th July).
Before booking at Thomas cook, we noticed the brochures said all long haul flights 33" legroom and seatback TVs.
We were going to fly Virgin, but the agent at Thomas cook said all long haul flights are now better than Virgin, 33" legroom and seat back Entertainment.

Suprise, surprise, turns out to be a standard cabin with no seatback TVs. Looked at a few Thomas Cook flights to Florida from Manchester around this time and all seem to be standard cabins.
So much for ALL flights having the extra leg room. Hope it won't be too cramped, but don't hold out much hope.

Perhaps they should change their website and Brochures to: if your lucky or fly from London, you may get a modified plane.
At least it is ONLY 9 hours flight
Never mind, role on July!

manc,

Welcome onboard :tup
I can understand your frustration, I would be in your position. It's not normal for TCX to use aircraft with 29" seat pitch on long haul flights. For whatever reason, they've been changed on selected flights over the summer. You'll find various posts relating to the same issue over the last couple of pages.

SSH - Sharm el Shiekh
HRG - Hurghada
MIR - Monastir
DLM - Dalaman
MAH - Mahon
PMI - Palma de Majorca
PVK - Preveza
ADB - Izmir

I can't give you exact flight numbers at this stage, however expect them to be on the busier days. Are you planning on flying on one of the A332's? If so, they are short haul configured, not long haul.

Hi Darren, yes i am. i know the a330 is not the long haul one. whats the difference in the long haul a330 and the short haul a330?
thanks.

degsy,

Differences are listed on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). The Airbus A330-300 (not listed on the guide) doesn't have seat back IFE.

Hi,

Still looking at options for extra legroom on the TCX92K/L flights to Sanford with 29" seat pitch. The back 5 rows on the A300 change to a 2-3-2 configuration and, on the seating plan, each of the 2 seats looking offset from those in front, do yo know if this is the case ? Can you stretch your legs out (even one of them!) from the inside seat of the of the pair ?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark 66,

Thomas Cook don't operate the A300, it's the A330 you'll be travelling on (I assume that was just a typo). The rear rows offer the same seat pitch as standard seats. The reason it drops from 3-3-3 to 2-3-2 is due to the fuselage narrowing towards the rear of the aircraft. The only row that offers any more seat pitch is the first row of 2-3-2, on the outer seats. This is due to that row being at a slightly offset angle due to the 'bend'. However, you'll only get a small amount of extra legroom, they aren't extra legroom seats. What is strange is the fact yuo have 5 rows of seats showing as 2-3-2. On the high density aircrat, it's usually 7 rows with 2-3-2 :que

Chivas69,

MAN-PMI-MAN (TCX322K/L) are operated by a 235 seat Boeing 757-200, not the 187 seat version. The 187 seat aircraft are used on selected flights to Canada and short-haul inbetween. Seat plans are linked from our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Dazbo,

Obviously our much looked forward to trip has been cancelled and Thomas cook have refunded us. We have just this second rebooked to Dominican republic leaving from Gatwick on Monday 26th, returning 13 days later on Sunday 09th May. After booking (grrr) we were advised that the outbound plane only had a 29" seat pitch. Very annoying not to be told before booking but at this stage we're grateful to be going anywhere (assuming this ash cloud disperses by then of course). What aircraft is operating this flight?

raptor,

If you read the last couple of pages, you aren't on your own. I expect it to be one of the high density A332's, but if you read my comments on my post to Mark 66, I was originally told different. Given the current atmospheric conditions and the huge repatriation effort required, you aren't out of the woods yet.

Hi there my mother is due to fly to the Dominican Republic on Saturday from Manchester, like most people we have been keeping our eye on the ever changing situation. Providing the ash clears and flights resume how will the airlines split their resources? I understand that they will be keen to resume normal operations regarding flying people out to destination but also have a duty of care to bring stranded passengers home, will standby aircraft be utilised to ease the situation or can my mother expect a horrendous delay?

Flint62,

A lot can happen between now and the weekend as volcanic activity is on the inrease. For latest information, refer to the dedicated topic. The huge air-repatriation effort hopefully starts today when aircraft can position out from Manchester when the window opens at 1300 and of course those stranded passengers take priority. You need to speak to Thomas Cook for latest information and options for flights / holidays later in the week. Standby aircraft won't give enough capacity to make much of a difference, it's only nomally one aircraft. They don't have a fleet of aircraft sat idle on standby. It may be possible to lease in extra capacity, but given parts of UK and european airspace remain closed, there are limited options. Airlines will be advised how long the current window is open as it could close again. Latest information is on Thomas Cooks website.

Hi Dazbo,

Sorry to pester you still further but I'm a little confused. As mentioned above we are booked to go to Dom Rep on Monday and were advised that the plane had reduced seat pitch. I've gone to book specific seats today and the aircraft shown (with seats allocated that others have bought) is the standard A330 -2 with 33" pitch. Help.
