Jaynee,

Your flights will be operated by an Airbus A330-200 with Seatback IFE.

Have you paid for sitting together or your seat your choice as well? You can only select your seat numbers 7 days prior to departure. If you want to select them earlier than that 98 days prior to departure is the earliest it can be done, but at an extra cost of £6 per person per flight.

Hi all!

Has anyone any idea of when the next edition of the TC travel magazine will be available? I know the current one only covers Feb,Mar & April.
Cheers

Thank you David for the answer! :thanks

Perhaps you should ask to travelrepublic for refund (because I bought there). Generally these claims are successful?

Sunaddict I chose an option "your site your choice" - it is the only one available on Travelrepublic site.
If I will reserve 98 days in advance in what way I will pay the extra fee?

Hello again Irina.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think there has been someone who got onto the travel agent (not the tour operator) who they booked their holiday thru' and were refunded by them.In your case this would be travelrepublic but they may tell you to contact Thomas Cook directly.
Best wishes.

Hi my booking invoice says I can choose priority seat selection which allows me to book my seats (for Aug) from today. It says there will be an extra charge for this service of £6pp per flight on top of the £7pp per flight I already paid with my balance. This extra £6 pp is misleading, as when I logged on to the website to choose my seats, they want £32 extra pp for exit seats - rip off.

As David said in an earlier post, it didn't recognise that I've already paid the original price for 'your seat your choice'. This means that I'll have to telephone but I've read that there is an EXTRA fee for paying over the phone. What a scam!

Hi Shirley.
As in my previous post, I think someone went into a Thomas Cook shop and got the £40 from them (as it was paid at the time of booking) as opposed to trying to claim it over the 'phone or trying to get a revised price. Worth a try before spending a few quid on the phone.
The main bit of information I have managed to gather from all the posts regarding pre-booking seats etc is that it seems better not to do it at the original time of booking and do it later on and that way there is no (or at least less) hassle to try and get back money you have already paid.
Best wishes.

Dave Dee -

Yes Booked 34A and 34B over phone was told normally an email confirmation would come through within a few minutes but the system was down (is it ever not??) so it will be through in about an hour.

It didn't come through but then I came online and heard people had waited 48 hours before recieving it, I waited, then the volcano thing happened and it was low on list of priorities, tried phoning since but they just keep diverting me to 0870 number. Phoned travel agent and their helpful response was "yeah you'll have to usually hold for about 20 minutes on the premium rate number that's the only way, we can't do it for you because we'd have to have that on our phone bill if we did"....well um yeah? it's your stupid company so surely that's the least you can do?! As if they can't bypass the 0870(!)

Anyway when we log on it shows we have 34A and 34B but I don't know if this is proof enough as we could have just clicked to select them on that page and printed that page without ever booking them if that makes sense? Nowhere does it say it's confirmed these are booked, theyre just selected, if that makes sense. the £24 however has come out of my account so I thought printing out that page and my bank statement might be proof enough? I work over 12 hours a day 6 days a week, I don't have the time to be sitting on hold for 20 minutes trying to sort out something that should be already done...

Dear Shirley, we have the same problem! Maybe for you it is easier, but I no phone from the UK (it is an international call with a significant cost to me).
Today a robot told me that reservation by phone cost £ 5. Okay, but if I book by phone how to pay? Thomas Cook can add a payment on my travelrepublic booking? If they an do that, can they eliminate the double payment?

Not sure whether they'd want to know in the travel agent's because I booked it on-line with direct holidays. What do you think?

Anybody know why TC would sell seats on a flight they apparently don't fly?
I recently booked seats from Glasgow to Orlando (Sanford) on Tuesday 31/08/10, flight TCX35K. When I tried to find out more about the flight i.e. plane type, IFE etc I couldn't find it anywhere! Glasgow Airport doesn't list it in the scheduled or charter flight timetable section and flythomascook don't list it either. The only flight both of them have listed leaves on a Saturday.

The flight number was given on our confirmation from flythomascook but the times listed match the Saturday Thomson's flight on the Glasgow Airport website not the Thomas Cook flights. Very confusing!!

I have tried to phone them but their operating hours don't suit as I am at work all day and they don't open at weekends.

Thanks

You would have to pay Thos Cook over the phone with a card. I doubt they would add it to your travel agents account but you could ask.
Shirley - Extra legroom seats have always come at an extra cost so I don't think the price is misleading.

cocobongo, I am sure the delay with the e-mail confirmation is due to the 'ash' problem and also the reason why the 0161 number is going over to the premium number. I can't remember when you are going on holiday but if it's not for a while,I would wait a week or two and then give them a ring and remind them about the confirmation. I really don't think you will have a problem with the seats, we have travelled before without the confirmation and didn't have a problem.

Shirley, booking 'your seat your choice' is getting to be one of the most complicated things with TC/Direct Holidays. For a start it says that the seats can only be booked 98 days beforehand, thats rubbish, well mine have been booked for weeks and I don't go 'til September. The best way would be to phone TC Airlines as near to 9am as possible and talk to them - they do know what they are doing unlike the website. (I know you work but they are open Saturday)

Yes, I know they are extra but I was under the impression my invoice said that the Priority seat selection cost just £6 pp per flight. Having checked again, my mistake. It does say FROM £6.

Thanks Denny, I've just contacted them via the website and it says they'll send a response within 2 days. I'll wait and see as I'm in no rush.

I received an automated response this morning, informing me they will get back to me within 2 days. I wonder what solution they'll come up with. What's the odds it'll be to telephone them :duh

Shirley i have also requested a call back from them about extra leg room seats we have booked back in august. They have changed the plane so we are now sat in the middle. Just want them to confirm they will change the booking. This is the response i got back this morning as you can see it didnt help.

We would like to thank our customers for their patience during this difficult time.

Due to unprecedented volumes of email's and call back requests during the disruptions due to the volcanic ash cloud, we experienced a technical fault with our server and have not been able to resolve the queries.

Please note that if your query relates to a refund, we have cancelled all bookings that were due to travel between the 15th - 21st of April 2010 and we have automatically processed a refund of the full booking amount back to the original card used. This will show on your account within 7 working days, however if you require further information as to when you will receive the monies please contact your bank.

For any queries unrelated to the volcano disruptions please could you send us a new request that we will aim to resolve within our normal service levels of 24 working hours.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

I have now sent another request.
