I never had any trouble with the tom watch. Only used it for ice creams and pop corn for kids when they went to movie nights at the kids club. When we did use it always got a receipt given showing how much you spent and how much was left on it and got back exactly how much was left on it. You need the tom watch to buy ice creams and lollies, popcorn and if you want drinks after 12pm.

I think a small base ball bat may come in handy if some of the postee's are there at the same time

Is there any preference to which English notes that the Turkish shops & markets take ? Were going tomorrow and all our sterling is in 20 pound notes, do they take these or do you suggest we exchange them for 10 and 5 pound notes ?
Reply
Hi, we had £10 and £20 notes and had no problem with either :D

You will need One Brand new Ten Pound note per person( incl children) for your Visa and then I would suugest a good mix of £5,£10,£20 and only carry in a safe wallet or pouch what you need for the time away from your Appt or Hotel keeping your wits about you ( Don't carry cash and cards together). It a good idea to download the POUND/ LIRA cheat sheet from the top of the HT front page.

We paid the visa with 2 £20 notes and 1 £10 note for our 5 visas. Its not that bad in sarigerme and if you go on any of the trips. We never felt we would get mugged or anything like that. Your more likely to get mugged in this country...

One shop keper ( not a market rip you off merchant) favoured sterling over Euro and or the dollar!!

I never felt worried about being mugged, felt safe all the time, not sure where that has come from. I had an over the shoulder bag and hubby sometimes used a bum bag. Just be sensible like we have to be here, it is fine.

Like the last person said your probably more likely to be mugged over here than there.

Found the complex very nice, clean and tidy, there could be room for improvement with the food ie being a cooked for a start. The hotel staff were very polite and always there to tend to your every need, the same could not be said for first the choice reps (not all) I made a complaint one night about underage drinking and when I made my complaint the reps just stood there and looked at them and asked me where the parents were, I felt that I was being looked down at by the reps. we found children as young as 9 or 10 throwing food in the lifts, out the windows and over the walls, there was absolutely no control of these children, they were running around the hallways screaming, fighting all at 1 or 2 in the morning. The entertainment was reasonably good but the duo that was on at night at one of the bars were very very good.
PS its obvious that these children are out of control because they are never disciplined and are out of the parents control. when your hear the foul language that the parents were shouting at the top of their voices at the poolside in the daytime, not everyone wants to hear it and it made me feel ashamed to be English.

i have to say that i read that there was entertainment for everyone in hotel and yes as off reading earlier posts it is not a "family hotel"and i felt that one night a week for adults only was great,it was a shame that it was spoilt by children running around whilst there parents sat there getting drunk...sorry but this is what we saw and i feel people need to know that they may experiance this, there were pleny of places these children could go for that one night as the adult entertainment was not on at both hotels on the same night as to not cause probs for those parent who "did not want to be parted from there kids"i dont want to get in an argument, but was very angry at the attitude of one person on here who had a problem with this!!!...we had a few nights in ampithearter that were spoilt because kids were tired and running riot...please those parents who allow there kids to do this,u are not the only ones here would be nice if you could think of the other holiday makers also the acts who were trying to perform for those of us who actuly wanted to see these shows...also we felt we should have took more english money as hotel shops were all priced in english..same as market...

Hi Lilac can I once more ask you not to use phone text ie U instead of you etc further posts using phone text will be deleted Briar

I must say that we have only just got back and our children went to 3 evening clubs but only because they had things on that they wanted to do. I do not recall seeing advertised anywhere that the evening show was for adults only so we went to whatever we wanted, however I did tell my children I did not want them running around, and most of the time they pulled up a chair at the front of the stage and watched quite happily. I must say I did not see any children running around out of control, I did see children having fun, but not misbehaving.

i dont want to get in an argument, but was very angry at the attitude of one person on here who had a problem with this!!!...

Obviously directed at me so therefore I am posting a response back in my defence!!!

1. This Hotel was described and sold to me as a "Family"Holiday Village (but there again there was a lot of advertised things in the brochure that we didn't get!)

2. When we were in the amphitheatre my children did not "run about" "misbehave" or "spoil it for others" "whilst we were getting drunk"... In the whole 2 weeks I never had more than 1 drink per night because the choice was diabolical so i therefore chose to drink Coffee and Water.

3. When we booked this Hotel we were not aware they were building a sister hotel, when we were we were told " Oh don't worry about that, it has all it's own facilities so you won't even know it is there"

4. If we had wanted to spend time in the Tropical we would have booked to stay there, but we booked and paid £3000 plus to stay in the Palace and that is where we chose to spend our evenings (A right I think we were intitled too!!!!)

5. On 2 occasions we spent the evening at the Italian restaurant and when we had finished our meal we stayed there and had a drink untill we went back to our rooms... On both these occasions we could hear word for word exactly what was being said in the Ampitheatre!! Should this have been on an "Adults" night where do you propose I go for my meal/evening entertainment - Marmaris perhaps!!!!

6. The same scenario as above exept whilst sat in the outside lobby bar on the rooftop Veranda, you could on most evenings hear the entainment content.

I am not against "adult nights" and Adults having there own time but surely this should be done in a "adult" enviroment, not in a hotel that caters and advertises itself for "Families" then expect families with childrento off load them for the evening. My Children did not wish to go to the "Kids Clubs" due to their age and I sure as hell wasn't going to make them do so just to please those that didn't want them around!!!!

Also no where in the brochure did it state that there would be enetertaiment acts that was not suitable for children, if it had done so maybe I would have chose to go elsewhere (which i wish I had of done now rather than spend £3000 on that Hellhole of a place)

Kind regards

well i didnt mention any names, but have to say i actully stayed in the tropical so maybe the behaviour of clientel there was worse when i was there ,i dont know,i wasent accusing you of getting drunk either, just pointed out there were a lot of parents who were doing this, even on one night allowing there children to climb up on stage when a show was on ,and laughing cause they thought it was funny...also there are plenty of other places to go apart from the ampithearter if someone does not want to watch a certain show and you could eat in both complexces,so you would have no problems eating out either...if parents are fine with there kids watching these shows then thats down to them,i personaly didnt think they were bad and honestly dont think the kids would have understood the jokes anyway...you are right we all were told diffrent things ,i did know that there was a sister hotel i could use,but i was also told my hotel was aimed at couples and not families!!!!so there you go..i to would not go back here, not unless they make it for everycountry and not just brits...another thing we were not told....

Hi Lilicbunnykins, I do agree with you i have never seen so many poeple badly behaved on one holiday complex in the whole time we have been going on holiday 15years(9 AI) altogether and never seen so many peole swear kids running around, theri whre four children in the entertainment area who never stopped running around everynight for the whole fortnight, they where between the aged of 3 and 7, running on the stage when acts where on runnung aroung where you sit alnight long, and all thier parents where doing was smoking and drinking, i know you cannot make young chilren sit for a long period of time, but alnight evernight is a bit over the top, i dont know where they got the energy from up at 8am and running around allday until 12.00pm, then if you wanted to watch the singers their where kids throwing the beakeres in the pool and flower beds, i also noticed that people had already engraved their names on the furniture allready, how can so many poeple have such disrgared for a new hotel, anyone who has been put of by this it is not like that at all AI hotels as many of these poeple would of been thrown out of the hotel if they had been at anyother AI. :yikes

Hi people

You will see from my previous posts that I went to PP on the 29th Sept to the 14th Oct.

Lets start with the good. Lovely hotel which they worked very hard to keep clean. Had a good holiday and weather good and as I have said before a holiday is what you make it! The kids den room was nice and I found it spacious. The Turkish staff were great and if you try to greet them in Turkish and say please and thank you it is even better! No tummy bugs either and mossies were out in full force but some people react better than others to the bites. I did get about 20 in total with Boots Extra strength as well as Sin Kov.

Pools Great can fault these they were clean and well maintained.

Beach party Held on a Thursday with lasers and foam machines as well as fireworks. This was great but very nerve racking if you have children as there are lots of people and it is quiet dark and the kids dive under the foam which is thigh level at the end. One day someone will get lost or seriously hurt so beware. Oh and don't forget you will be washing sand out of your clothes for eternity!

The not so good:-
Main restaurant is like a canteen (self service) and food is a bit on the warm side but there is a good selection. Did not serve your drinks at the table like I would have expected but plenty of bars so no queues and very near your tables! It is very loud in there so forget romantic moments. There is a microwave for those who want the food a bit warmer.

Games Room various selection from Air Hockey table, Football table, Snooker tables, Bowling, PS2 games, Arcade games and 4 computers with intenet access. You pay by token for games and pay at desk for other things. You can pay in Sterling, Lira or Euros for any of these and this is clearly marked. It is very smokey in there and a bit jaded ie carpets a bit rank etc. Bit like an old games room pub. There is also a bar in there.

Amphitheatre They were right the seats are uncomfortable. The entertainment was okay and they tried very hard but must admit did not use this much. There is no entertainment inside the complex all outside and I thought that this made the reception bars etc lack atmosphere as there was no background (nice) music. It would benefit from a piano bar or something

Drinks Limited AL drinks. They do Vodka, Gin, Raki, Brandy, Beer and Wine. Could not see any others so don't hold me to that. They do Soda Water, Tonic and Bitter lemon and there is always a supply of Tea and Coffee.

Would I go back nooooooooooooooo........................... This is personal so those who have booked please don't pay much attention to me as this is just my opinion. For me it was too vast and lacked atmosphere. I cannot even begin to tell you what kind of bad behaviour I encountered in this complex. It ranged from Physical Violence to swearing at children and all sorts. We met some good people there so don't everyone be horrible to me but I have to say that by and large I was so ashamed to be British. It is very Butlins in the Sun and I would not recommend it for couples.

The kids club was fabulous and they did everything to help make your stay and the kids a great experience. The reps are great and had to endure some really challenging customers. One of them even told me that they were sure they were not going to do next year as they thought the calibre of moaning and abuse was just too much. Being poked and screamed at was sworn at was not what they had signed up for!

My friend went at the end of August and had a great time and met some good people and she said that she did not see the physical violence that I had encountered but again she would not go back due to the vastness of the holiday village and some of the behaviour.

I can't just say it was bad an not make any suggestions so I will say a bit more atmosphere like piano bar and entertainment inside. Sell this as a family resort and don't even try to hint at the couples. Be stricter on dress codes in restaurant. Have a zero tolerance on bad behaviour and try to make more of the beach.

It was stated that they are even thinking on making this a 5 star next year which I cannot see happening unless they make radical changes. It was rumoured that they were going to put the prices up to get a better clientèle but I am not sure how this will work as money does not buy you manners.

By the way I met Strewin and Deblis so if you are out there hello!!!!! Only they know what we witnessed! :yikes

Forgot to mention the Football Course.

The football coaches were great and my 5 year old loved it! You get a colour picture at the end as well as a certificate. I thought it was well worth it!

This complex will never make 5* in a million years. Even if they changed the clientele. They would have to totally revamp the canteen (that's what it felt like) before they could even call it a dining room.

It is a lovely place but it was thrown up, if you take a good look at the finishings, that is rally shoddy workmanship. The room furniture is on a par with ikea. The furniture in our room was already badly marked

I would rate it more as 3* until they sort the food situation out, and make sure that there are enough sunbeds, cushions and towels to go around and upgrade the room furniture.

The kids clubs and the gardens are definately 4*, but the worry with the kids clubs could be that next year they might not get the same calibre of staff to work there once word gets around about the abuse suffered
