Hi, we are flying on the above flights in May to Holguin. Does anyone know what type of plane that will be and whether they have seat-back TVs? Thanks!

The 23kg limit in Prem cabin is definitely in force now, just arrived back from Mombasa last night.

We're flying with First Choice to Turkey in May and upgraded to Premium specifically for the 30kg luggage allowance, but were horrified when they changed it to 23kg.

However, I called them and they said because we'd booked it before 30th December the 30kg allowance will stand.

Jennyherring,

flight will be on a 767-300 with 2-3-2 layout and eat seat does have seatback TV's.

I did this flight with FCA in 2004 when we went to paradisus Rio De Oro and it was great so am sure you'll enjoy the flight.

Hi Andy 2000,

Thank you for your information, its much appreciated. Is the 2, 3, 2 configuration in the economy class or is that just for Premium class?

Many thanks for your help.

A couple of weeks ago I was reassured by another poster saying that the 767's should never be substituted with a 757 again, because there is a spare a/c available at all times...

However, looking at a flight tracking website (flightaware) shows a 757 on FCA75 inbound right now from Santa Maria in the Azores to Sanford - presumably the Azores was a fuel stop?

Does anyone know if this is because one of the 767's is unservicable or was this planned?

Pity the poor souls having to fly all that time in a cramped 757 and have to stop on the way... my nightmares are returning about our own trip to SFB in the summer!!

Breaking news.

First Choice and Tui are merging (looks like First Choice as the 49%, TUI as 51%) . Job losses expected in the UK.

Direct result of the MYT/TCX deal last month I should think!

There will be some job losses no doubt, but this forum is about the travellers so lets focus on the benefits of that. It does have to get passed by the shareholders first.

In general the best things to do for the new company would be to;

Use the Thomson name for short haul holidays and Thomsonfly for the low cost flights.

Use the First Choice name for the long haul services offered with the new B787-8 aircraft for which there could be up to 27 if the rumours that TUI had ordered 15 were true.

Cozzyleicester,
I share those memories......
I think the post was in response to my post about flying from Sanford to Glasgow in June last year in a 757.
Having heard the new about FC/TUI this morning, i'm filled with even more dread - wonder what the impact will be for us the humble customer. I said then i would not fly with them again, that holiday was the first and last with FC as we normally go with Thomsons!!!!!!

Now that the dust has settled a bit its probably coming as no big surprise. Reported in travel press and pages of Holiday Truths away back in October that First Choice werelooking for a partner.....albeit at that time expected to be Thomas Cook who have now ofcourse settled elsewhere.

The low cost operation has hit the tour company hard for many short to medium haul routes - although interestingly enough, I had time yesterday to check the apron at Malaga - where there were no less than 5 First Choice aircraft on the ground at the same time...mind you Monarch beat that with 6!

One thing is for sure though - seat only prices may stabalise with the merging of just about all of the UK big players now.
