Unbelievable. Are they mad!

Why would anyone want to eat at Mcdonalds when there are so many lovely restaurants to choose from.
It beggars belief, but I'm sure there will be plenty of youngsters who love MacDonalds( my grandkids for one.)
I think Macdonalds are rubbish but thats my personal opinion. :shrug

No doubt there will be a flood of moaning posts about Benidorm blah blah blah - McD's in Goa not for me but was bound to happen one year.

At Least they always have the cleanest of toilets

I'll no more visit McDs than I do Dominoes Pizza whilst in Goa, then again I don't go to either in the UK.

Rather a shame, the price of progress :?:

I heard this from the owner of Caps corner on the Baga rd, he seemed to be a very knowledgable guy so it could well be true :? your right Ann the toilets will be its redeeming feature.
Maybe some of the long stayers could verify this ??

Doesnt really matter does it, if you don't like it don't eat there - not exactly limited for choice are we. Good luck to them, they are a franchise arent they - so one way for our lovely Goan people to earn a decent salary. Anyway imagine all the kids'forced; to go to India by their parents living their past dreams - will be bliss for them. Beautiful sun, sand and sea and then ending up with a happy meal :D

I am not happy at all, the thing I loved about Goa was the fact that the large chains hadn't moved in (OK I admit there's a Domino's pizza and Subway) and I think a Macdonalds is horrendous, I saw Ko Samui get ruined by Macdonalds , KFC etc , I hope and pray this will not happen to Goa :x

A few years ago in Bombay I really fancied a go at a Maharajah Burger - just to try it, but when I got there the queues were huge, so never bothered in the end, went to a pure veg cafe and got a couple of samosas instead.

I have to say McDonalds in Koh Samui did not ruin my holiday- I never went near them and ate Thai food the whole time. I would have preferred that it hadn't been there but who am I to dictate to others what they can eat on holiday? The same would surely go for Goa- just don't go if you don't want it. If its not popular it won't stay after all.

I wasn't too happy when they built Subway in Calangute but then I thought, I'm only here for a few weeks holiday, why shouldn't the people who live here have the same choice as me when I'm at home? Sign of the times I suppose!!

Used the one in Mumbai once, as I remember it it was the young locals mostly using it, it was the bog standard fare, but of course no beef is used, I suppose the same will apply to the one in Calangute, used mostly by the locals, but who knows mabey the new breed of package tourists will like Goa even more, once they find live football, Irish pubs, english breakfasts, and now McDonalds !!! Sorry, but don't know what the fuss is all about, new it would happen sooner or later! If you don't like it don't go. It won't stop me from enjoying the magic of Goa. Although I don't eat at McD's when I'm in Goa for 5-6 weeks sometimes I fancy eating a takeaway pizza from Dominos rather than going out every night(well 1 night takeaway in 6 weeks isn't bad!) :)

Beefburgers have never been that popular in India (?) Royal Foods is probably the nearest you'll get to a fast food joint and they mainly sell chicken.
I wouldn't fancy buying a McD's franchise in India.
Good luck to them

:( Oh no!!!!! I also feel it's going the same way as Thailand, I went to Koh Samui years ago not expecting McDonalds, bowling, ice cream bars etc etc but that's what I got! - I've not been back!!
