Thats really mad that you have just mentioned that dry oil spray from Avon as I actually have a full bottle of it in my desk at work. At least now I don't have to go and buy one.
Thanks everyone.

Well, I've been living in Cyprus for over 3yrs now and I still get bitten by the damn things :x

Jungle Formula always seemed to be the best to keep them at bay but now I buy the local Elephant Spray (in a green tin or pump spray) and it does help a lot.

Unfortunately, we went to Paphos on Saturday afternoon to meet up with some friends and sat at one of the restaurants along the harbour for a couple of hours and I got chewed to bits.

Usually, I only need to put spray on at night - so guess who will be avoiding the harbour for future in Paphos

Its not so good in Protaras, Pernera, Kapparis at the moment. If you are outside in the evening without repelant or sleep without a plug in, you will certainly know about it!
The larger supermarkets in Paralimni all have a good selection of anti mozzie stuff and Boots in UK always carry a variety in their summer section.

I've bought some of the Avon SSS Dry Oil ready for my holiday, I'm not surprised it keeps the mozzies at bay it smells quite strong (not horrible just strong) unless I've got the wrong stuff :D

cazmickandtom,

we got a fab three pronged mozzie plug in at a supermarket in protaras you can use it with liquid or pellets and it wasnt expensive.

Just got back and not 1 bite, I used the roll on stuff from Aldi Dr Johnsons all natural oils and also Elephant roll on mozzie repelant which i purchased in Plus supermarket in Dherynia the kids also used this and like the roll it on.

I carried one in my bag all the time and applied frequently. there must have been plenty about as I seen others with lots of bites,

I also showered in Avon sss and used the soap and body lotion after the shower.

what are the plug ins and where do you buy them please
never had to before but am right scared now

plug ins are basically electronic mosquito killers. simply plug it in and you can actually watch the mozzies drop from the ceiling. slide the pellets on the heated part of the plug and it is the vapour that kills them!! or you can also get a liquid attachment which works the same

Jamie C, hear Andy Johnson rubs it on his head.!!
Seriously used it myself, the dry oil spray is great stuff, its not oily, rubs in quick and has a pleasant smell, not chemically or anything. In the States Avon can say it repells insects, but British and E U laws wont alow them to do so. or so the rep said

Hiya,
Going to CB in late September, will the mozzies be dying off at this time?
Thanks x

Again this season mossies have not been much of a problem here in Pafos area, it will depend on your location but I sit out most evenings until late and so far no problems, a few snakes and one or two very large spiders, but all in all insect free this summer...... so far!!
