Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.
jrwatson,

Sorry, I didn't see it was a different flight back! TCX207L should be an Airbus A321-200, but I can confirm that the first week of May for you.

Hi Darren,

Can you please tell me what aircraft and reg I will be travelling on and where its coming from beforehand

13/05/10 TCX174K Manchester - Airport Cayo Coco
27/05/10 TCX174L Cayo Coco - Manchester Airport

We are sat on row 9 (just behind the bulkhead seat on the TC A330 plan) Is the aircraft a ex MYT plane with the toilets downstairs?
Just wondering if we will have a wall in front of us or the downstairs toilets?

Thanks in advance

Candyboo,

MAN-CCC-MAN (TCX174K/L) are operated by an Airbus A330-200. You'll find further aircaft information on our What aircraft? guide. It's too early to know the aircraft registration, we'll know the day before. It is the ex-MYT's that have the downstairs toilets.

how do everyone...i was just wondering if anyone knows if you are able to pre-order duty free items on thomas cook longhaul flights? i have been having a look at their selection via their in flight magazine on ink publishing.com and there are a couple of perfume and beauty items i would really like to get hold of,,, one of which was sold out last year when i tried to buy it on a thomsonfly flight due to it's excellent marked down special price which is again a similar price in thomas cooks duty free brochure, although, admitedly this was on the return leg after trolley stocks ad been depleted on the outbound journey...if anyone can tell me if this/ is not available before i waste another squillion quid on their call centre attempting to find out from them themselves, i would be greatful for any info :cheers

emmacat,

You can't pre-order before you travel as far as I know, but you can pre-order once on your flight for the inbound.

My in-laws are due back from Goa on the inbound flight tomorrow.Poor them.

Emmacat...
you cannot pre order for your way home. This is something we are hoping to introduce in the future, as mytravel used to have it, but currently you must purchase it on the outbound to avoid disappointment.

Hi there,
Had a good nosey through the 65 pages before posting this so I'm sorry if the answer was already there and I've missed it :)
I'm travelling from Glasgow to Tenerife on 30th April then back on the 7th May.
Can you tell me what type of aircraft I will be flying on?
The outbound no is:TCX519K Inbound:TCX519L

I'm travelling as a single parent with an 8 year old and this is my 1st trip away for 15 years so I'm pretty much clueless to the changes been made over the years.
I'm a little paranoid that they will seperate us on the plane and read that seat allocations are made well in advance.I was told not to bother paying by a relative but after reading some horror stories online I'm a little worried. Will being at check in 2hours before the flight really make a difference to where we are seated?

Sorry for prattling on and thank you so much

leanne1910,

Welcome onboard :tup
GLA-TFS-GLA (TCX519K/L) are operated by a Boeing 757-200. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (see below). There are no guarantees you'll have seating allocated together. For peace of mind, you can pay the extra to pre-book seating together or even select your specific seats. In my experience though, as long as you're at the airport in good time, you'll get seats together. It's only when you arrive at the airport late after most of the seating has been allocated that you'll run the risk of getting split up and get whatever seating is left. If you're at the airport 2 - 2.5 hours before your departure time, you should be fine.

Thanks very much Darren,

I would book the seats together but I booked through OTBeach and it would cost a fortune (£160) to do it now as I can't do it direct with Thomas Cook :( I just discovered that TC open their check in desk at 3.00am at Glasgow Airport (Our flight is at 7.30am) so we'll just be there extra early and hope for the best.I shouldn't worry so much about it,if the wee one has his nintendo he won't even notice if I'm beside him or not :D

Thanks for letting me know what aircraft,I'm glad it isn't the one with the missing windows,I can handle seats that don't recline for 4 and a half hours but I'm a big kid who likes to look out the window at take off and landing :D You can tell it's been a while since I've flew.

Thanks again xx

I'm not sure why you can't book seats together Leanne (and why it would cost so much, those sound more like premium seat prices!). I booked TC seats recently with another operator and was able to go on the Thomas Cook airlines site and book seats together and select seat numbers - this cost about £60 for two people to Mexico! You would need the TC reference number which OTB should have on your confirmation somewhere - the format is AA11111A if that makes sense!

If you would be upset to be parted on the aircraft it may be worth persuing sitting together for your peace of mind, but if you can get to the check-in between 3-4am you should be fine without pre-booking. They do try not to separate children where possible. On a Thomas Cook flight a couple of years ago our take-off was delayed because a passenger who'd checked in late wasn't sitting with her child (aged about 7). No one wanted to swap seats despite being offered drinks or free meals! I think someone was eventually swayed with a batch of free scratchcards and we eventually took off!

...... and while I'm here, can somebody please give me the link to check the IFE on Thomas Cook flights?

Hiya Cazzholly,

I tried that but after putting all the flight details on the Thomas Cook site it flashed up saying that bookings with that reference no need to be amended through the company you booked the flights with.OTBeach charge £25 per person each way and a £30 admin fee per person too, they do this with any amendments you want to make after booking ie meals :( I should have booked them to start with but never mind.
Out of all the changes since budget flights came about this has got to be the craziest of them all,I would have thought seperating children from their parent or guardian would be breaching some sort of health and safety rule if something were to happen and also avoid the disruption you suffered on your flight,it must occur on quite a few.

Thanks for your advice also,we'll just head to the airport early, the wee man will be high as a kite and probably won't sleep much the night before anyway :)
Thanks again xx

cazzholly,

The IFE listing is in Thomas Cooks inflight magazine (page 121+). The link is on our What Aircraft? guide (see below).

Would anybody be able to tell me exactly what the your seat your choice with Thomas Cook means? Basically, we have booked this option at a cost of £20pp when we fly to Florida in May. I thought that this would mean that we would be able to go online and choose our actual seats on the aircraft.

When I tried to do this the other day, the Thomas Cook flights website wanted an extra £115 - I was confused so rang our local TC branch, who I booked the holiday with. They said that the £20 was only to guarantee seats together and not to book the actual seats we wanted - we would now have to pay again to choose the actual seats we want.

Is this correct? How can it be called your seat your choice when I am getting no choice at all? Also, is there another option I could have booked in order to prebook the actual seats on the plane?

I am going in to see them about this next week, so any help would be appreciated.
