Claire, we had an extra 20Kg allowance (one extra bag) when we had a TC wedding. They were quite specific that the additional bag could only contain wedding attire and not general holiday gear but that said, no-one checked. The additional allowance wasn't on our original invoice and I asked them to generate one with the extra 20Kg on - felt happier turning up to the airport with that!

With regards to contacting either TC or the airline, best thing is to ring them at 9.00am as soon as the lines open. Good luck with the wedding!

alboy26,

LGW-PUJ-LGW are operated by an Airbus A330-200. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

thanks cazzholly, putting me at rest!

as they say in the brochure your allowed a small extra suitcase for attire....... the dress is bigger than my largest case i think! haha do i just need to contact them on them on the 0844 number? xxx

fairypants,

I only have experience in booking extra baggage allowance for diving. The last time I did it, it was a simple phone call to add it to your booking and get confirmation. I would assume the same for the wedding allowance. They removed the divers allowance about 5 years ago, the reason I don't use TC as often these days.

Thomas cook are well known for their poor communications when you try call the call centre. Even Thomas cook travel agents end up hanging on over 30mins at times even more.

In all the times I've had to call them, I can't say I've had many problems. Certainly no more than calling any other call centre whether it be aviation or holiday related or not. I called Thomson Airways the other week and got through to a representative within 60 seconds. The key thing is to call when it's quiet, ie 10-11am on a weekday. I've never had a problem when calling around then. If you call first thing, at lunch time or in the evening, that's when people are calling most around work commitments. If you can avoid peak times, you shouldn't have any problems.

LAX2000,

It's a little early to be 100% sure, but LGW-MIR-LGW (TCX823K/264L) would normally be operated by an Airbus A321-200 / Boeing 757-200 respectively. If you remind us closer to the time, we'll be able to confirm things for you.

Hi,

Does Thomas Cook have any new orders on planes that are due to come any time soon, if so what are they and when will they arrive?
Reply
TBROWN,

Thomas cook are currently retiring aircraft, not ordering. Apart from G-DIMB (G-TCCB) that's returning from Monarch, there's no new aircraft due. You might want to look at the aviation forums for general aviation / aircraft information rather than our holiday forums. Airliners.net is a good place to start.

Darren

PS an acknowlegemet of posts and a please and thank you would be nice too.

I have just phoned Thomas Cook airlines to book 'your seat your choice' for a holiday to Mexico in September. I was really surprised to learn that all the 'AB and HJ' seats (in premium) but 3 had already been booked!!! In fact now I've booked mine, there is only 5AB available!!
The early bird really does get the worm!

Hey again,

Having a bit of a worry here, probably over nothing but I'm hoping someone can help.

I went to a Travel Agent today just to get advice on who was a reputable transfer company.
After giving my flight details to them they told me that my outbound flight TCX519K had been put forward an hour to 8.35am.I came home to check my booking to see if there had been any changes (Just to note I booked my flights through OTBeach not TC directly). My booking still has the same details but on searching for flights on the same dates TCX519K is still available for the original time which was 7.30am and my inbound flight was leaving 15 mins later but I noticed below that flight listing there was another with the times the travel agent had told me mine had been changed too but with a really bizarre ref: /50C42 it is advertised as a Thomas Cook flight but has no TCX code.
I am so sorry if this post sounds really stupid but I'm really out of the loop when it comes to flying.
I understand flight times can be changed many times but I'm just a little worried because I'm not sure which flight is mine. Also checked the Thomas Cook site and they have no flights TCX519K listed for that date.I'm probably worrying over nothing but I would really appreciate it if someone could put my mind rest.
Thank you very much
Leanne xxx

PS.Hope you all have a lovely weekend

leanne1910,

50C42 is a flight reference number, not a flight number. Flight reference numbers are used in brochures and internal systems by Thomas Cook. Flight numbers are used by Thomas Cook Airways. The reference and flight number may be the same flight. The information given to you by Thomas Cook will be correct and flight times will be confirmed when you get your tickets. If there's a significant change, whoever you booked your holiday / flight with should consult you.

hello,

finally managed to get through. thomas cook (through email) gave me specific numbers to call depending on booking reference numbers. got through to a very nice lady that told me i had to call the airline (yet again) she explained that they were very busy due to customers giving API and that she'd give me a call back when she got put in the que. half an hour later, i got the phone call and was at position 4, and within 20 minutes the call was answered and extra allowance added on within a matter of seconds!

if anyone has any issues in terms of bookings try the numbers on flythomascook.co.uk and their faq. under question "i have booked but have a question" (wont let me post the link!!)

if they cant help you, they will find someone who can!

hope this helps, and thanks for the info given to me :)

Hi

Does anybody know if you can check in at Manchester Airport the day before travel - we are flying with Thomas Cook.

When we flew with Thomsons last year we could check in the day before and it was great. However, I can't find out anything about Thomas Cook.

Thanks vry mch
